Holiday Inn Express Lille Centre

The first thing we noticed was the friendly and helpful staff, which remained consistent throughout our stay. Every request was met with a helpful and positive response. The rooms look very modern in photos, and give a false impression that the hotel is very new. In fact, it is not new at all, as is evident from the ugly external doors of the rooms. However, the interiors of the rooms, including the bathrooms, have been refurbished very well. The only shortcomings are the very small double beds and the lack of power sockets on one side of the bed - whoever designed it presumably believes that only one person in a couple has a smartphone and smartwatch? The breakfast was one of the most disappointing in any hotel I’ve stayed in for a long time. At least it was included in the room price, as I would have been very unhappy if I had paid extra for it. There were two types of cheese, one or two types of meat and some croissants. As a comparison, the Holiday Inn in Calais has at least five times as much choice for breakfast. The location of the hotel is good, being quite central, but some other hotels are more central and closer to the more lively areas. If you have a car, then it's quite easy to find on-street parking spaces close to the Holiday Inn because it's not too central.
Le Vieux Beffroi

The hotel is located at the grand place (main plaza) of Béthune. It has the nice view of the clock tower Beffroi. The staffs are friendly and very helpful. They even gave us free additional bottles of water. The room is clean. There are many parking places nearby the hotel. There are also many restaurants around the grand place.

We booked this hotel as an overnight stay on our way to Rouen and am I glad it was only one night . This hotel is completely run down . The reception was out of the 70s . Although we had booked well in advance, when we arrived they had us booked in for the next day. Fortunately they said they had a room for us . I’m not surprised they did as I don’t think they are Overbooked ever . The whole hotel is very tiered, from the dark hallways (dark Red walls with dark blue wood work and dark linoleum floors) to the rooms with brown painted walls . The furniture was old and worn wood and the carpet (green) were stained in several places. There was coffee and tea facilities in the room but it was powdered milk so we didn’t bother with that . The bathroom was very small and completely white tiled but as with the room could do with completely being upgraded. The shower only had one pressure and that was fast and hard. If you were showing the toilet also got a good dousing as well. Breakfast (well if you call one pain au chocolate and a bit of bread breakfast) was a disappointment . We asked for more pain au chocolates and croissants but we’re told it was all gone ( it was 8.30 in the morning) . There was eggs if you boiled them yourself. My wife did try but I think she would still be standing there a day later as the egg boiler was ancient . Some of the tables had wood and metal garden chairs to sit on . On leaving they tried to charge us for two days breakfast even though we had only stayed one night . We soon corrected that . I can only say “don’t stay at this hotel “ .
Kyriad Chantilly Nord - Saint-Maximin

CAFARD in the room since I arrived the morning, reported to the ”director” who told me ”and this evening you will find a mouse?” A director who allowed his remarks on my suit (a long kimono and a black panty) I told him that I'm already dressing as I want and that my dress is quite suitable, and that I'm not dressing as well as the dressing of the dress. Then he told me ”heat doesn't justify we're dressing any way” and then let me go to take my breakfast, noticed that he ”have seen badly”. After many questions, he didn't want to give me his name while all employees had a name, nor did he want to show me the regulation on ”appropriate” dresses to have for breakfast because ”he won't have fun to write all the rules” . I also told me that if I have nothing to do, he is busy. It is certain that reading 2 mails between 2 walks in the room is very busy as a job. I also asked the regulation on the taking the bags Individuals, since he has allowed a remark, not yet a regulation, but in his great goodness ”he said nothing to me when he could have”. In any case, even if he recognized that he had a bad sight, I had to take a few excuses from his mouth. It is a pity that this experience is done because the receptionist of the reception last night was adorable and made a good impression, so that I didn't want to disturb her or create any problem when I saw the CAFARD The room was very good.
Grand Hotel de l'Univers

The Grand Hôtel de l'Univers is located on a pedestrian-only street in center of Amiens, very conveniently located a very short walk from the train station. Our room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, and the bathroom appeared recently-renovated. The rest of our room, and the common areas, however, were a bit more worn, and a little renovation wouldn't go amiss. WiFi was available, free, and it worked well. Our room was not air conditioned, which didn't matter much during our stay (September) but might be uncomfortable in mid-summer. The front desk staff were bilingual, very welcoming, friendly, and went out of their way to help us. Overall, I'd give it a grade of A for location, A+ for the staff, and a B- for the overall condition of the facilities.

We stayed here very recently, unfortunately by way of oversight I'd got the date of the stay wrong and we arrived 24 hours too early. Fortunately, we were in luck and were able to stay, Marine organised the cleaners in double quick time and within an hour of our early arrival we were able to occupy the flat. The flat is very smart, clean and modern with all the leisure and cooking facilities you will need. We were particularly impressed by the bedside table lamps! The flat is easily accessed and in a great location, a very short walk to shops, bars and restaurants.
