Mostly good experience. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. The French restaurant was delicious. And it was great that there was a ski rental and storage right inside the hotel. Added to that, the convenience of skiing right to the lift is heavenly. The bar/ lounge was chill and cozy. However it either seemed there was a shortage of staff, mostly new staff, or both. The mandatory dinner reservations were very restrictive even though when getting there at the reserved time, the restaurant was half empty. And most frustrating was that there was no options for getting any type of food after 8:30. So if you get hungry after that time or want a snack, you better pre buy one of the 3 options of instant noodles from the lobby store (before it closes also).

We were able to bring our pets and had a comfortable, spacious stay as a family. The hotel staff were incredibly polite, making our experience very pleasant. Having a washing machine in the room was great for cleaning the kids' clothes, and the bathroom was also spacious and comfortable!

Since it was cheaper than other ryokans in the area, I didn’t expect much. But to my surprise, it offered full service—just like the more expensive ryokans I’ve stayed at before! They even provided a pickup service from the train station, which I forgot to book. Luckily, a Western couple sitting next to me on the train had reserved it. When I saw the “Hotel Housei” sign on the van outside the station, I hopped in! The hotel is a bit far from the station and involves walking up and down hills, so carrying luggage all the way would have been quite tough. I was really fortunate to catch that ride! Cherry blossoms were in full bloom along the river, just a few steps from the hotel—such a beautiful sight. The room wasn’t large, but it had enough space and was very comfortable. The elderly gentleman at the front desk seemed to speak multiple languages—he even knew some Thai! He was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The onsen was wonderful. The indoor bath was a bit too hot for me, but the outdoor bath was cooler and more relaxing. Breakfast was a buffet, which was decent. In conclusion, this place was absolutely worth it. Next time, if I go skiing in Shiga Kogen or bring someone to see the snow monkeys, I’ll definitely remember to book the pick-up and drop-off service in advance!

Our stay at Wakata Hakuba Lodge was truly wonderful from the moment we arrived until check-out. We arrived early, together with another couple who were also waiting for their room. Mr. Lu warmly welcomed us and provided plenty of helpful information about the area. As we had time before check-in, he kindly offered to drive us out so we could have lunch and explore the surrounding shops and cafés. This thoughtful gesture immediately made us feel well taken care of. We had the hotpot dinner during our stay, and it was absolutely delicious. We enjoyed it so much that we even ordered extra chicken! It was a very satisfying and comforting meal. Unfortunately, our train departure was very early, so we were unable to try their Japanese breakfast as it is served at a fixed time. However, the kindness did not stop there. The driver who sent us to the station noticed that we had not had breakfast. Since we were leaving early, he kindly contacted the kitchen to prepare some toast for us to take along. We were deeply touched by this considerate gesture.

Come to Hakuba Village Iwadake to see the autumn leaves. The air is fresh and there is a sense of open space. The place to stay is very warm and the landlord’s meticulous reception allows us to rest and regain our strength. Next time we will come to experience the good snow scene.

LLONGFUIt’s the photos taken by mobile phones inside and outside the store. The small hotel run by the old couple is not far from the Yudanaka tram terminal. In the town of hot springs, it’s good to have a 24-hour hot spring bathhouse. The owner is very good. Gentle was able to personally drive us to the foot of the mountain in the Wild Monkey Park to see the monkeys washing in the hot springs. It is a lot more convenient for us. Shared toilets are the place I am least used to, but overall I am satisfied.
