We bought tickets for a group tour, but it turned out we were alone. The guide was a very friendly young man who took us on a tour of the hutongs, explaining in detail Chinese traditions and cuisine, taking us into hidden alleys and showing us the most hidden spots. The entire tour, including dinner, lasted 3.5 hours. We didn't regret a minute of it! His English was good, and everything was crystal clear! Dinner was also filling; my daughter has a gluten allergy, so he quickly changed the dishes. The tour ended at the lake, where the guide explained in detail how to spend our time there and get back to our hotel.

She balanced historical explanations with anecdotes about Chinese culture, and was very willing to give us time to explore on our own and take photos. A great tour! It's very convenient that you can see three main sights in one day. Of course, the tours aren't very detailed and the guide doesn't tell much, but it's more than good for a first introduction! The guide, Van, is pleasant and patient.
