Wow, the Longmen grotto especially is both everything and nothing like I expected! I appreciated the tour guide at both the Shaolin temple and the grotto telling stories and giving explanations for the things we were looking at. Both places were extremely, extremely busy, but I managed to see everything I wanted to!

The booking process was easy, our group of 4 was upgraded to a private car. Mr. Tian, our driver, was exceptional. He communicated with us via WeChat before the trip, arrived at our hotel half an hour early and waited for us. He was courteous, helpful with our questions, picked us up on foot to take us to parking lot so we didn’t have to look for him (like other tour drivers). Made our experience stress free. He even bought us some delicious local fruits to try. He dropped us off a Wanda Mall (2km from our hotel) after we asked him about it, so we could go for the remainder of our evening. The car felt new and clean, he made sure the temperature was to our comfort and adjusted when we said the AC can be turned down. Overall a very enjoyable day.

The guide was very friendly and attentive. She explained everything in detail and with great historical knowledge. She speaks excellent English and was very patient with our English (which is not advanced). She took great care in providing a traditional lunch in an excellent location, which was very tasty. The driver was excellent, drove carefully and attentively, and the car was clean, spacious, and very comfortable.

I was the only foreigner, but the guide took great care of me. The day before, they sent me a WeChat message with the meeting point near my hotel. It would have been a hassle to go to the Shaolin Temple alone, but I think it was a worthwhile choice.

Sightseeing is one way to see a place, but having a fantastic tour guide like Kathy makes it a memorable experience! With a knowledgeable, personable, very professional, organized and flexible to meet ones personal needs raises the experience to a higher level. Kathy, and driver Mr Wang took wonderful care of this older slower but eager to learn person and I am very appreciative! Thanks to both of you!
