Buying tickets online is very convenient and cheaper than buying them at the pier, but you need to exchange them for physical tickets at the pier. It would be even better if you could use a QR code.
Reviews: R2G Boat Tour of the Sai Kung Volcanic Rock Region

I saw an advertisement for a cruise at the WM Hotel for $380 per person. I also inquired with boat operators at Sai Kung Pier, and their quotes were all $360 per person. They said they needed a minimum number of passengers to depart before noon, so I wanted to go earlier and avoid the sun. My son and I signed up for the 9 am cruise. The boat departed promptly at 9 am on Saturday morning. There were 10 people in total, including the guide and crew. We arrived at Sharp Island in about 5 minutes. The guided tour and visit on the island lasted about half an hour. Because there was a foreigner among us, the guide patiently explained the history of the Sai Kung volcanic rock scenic area, its area (which is actually 20 kilometers in total), and we saw different types of rocks and learned about the principles behind their hexagonal formation. I felt it was a very meaningful trip for both adults and families with children. It gave us a much better understanding of the different areas of the scenic area compared to those tours that simply signed up at the pier. My son and I just hiked up and down Po Pian Chau yesterday, a grueling climb with no flat paths and scorching sun – we were exhausted! This boat trip was so much more comfortable. The speedboat was thrilling and so refreshing. At each different rock area, the guide and captain patiently let us take photos. The guide deserves five stars – super nice and helpful! The captain said that at 9 am, only twice out of ten times the sea was so calm that we could get so close to the rocks for so long to take pictures. The weather was perfect, blue skies and white clouds – we were very lucky. On the boat, the commentary revealed that the Po Pian Chau on the back of the 500 yuan note isn't actually Po Pian Chau; over 80% of people get it wrong, haha! It's actually in a nearby corner. Anyway, we experienced both the land hike and the sea trip. Both the Po Pian Chau scenic area and the volcanic rock area are beautiful. If you have the energy, hike; if not, take the boat trip. I think both are worthwhile. I'll definitely participate in this kind of activity again next time. Thank you to the guide and captain.
