Kabukicho

Kabukicho is the location of many host and hostess clubs, love hotels, shops and restaurants. It is often called the "Sleepless Town." During the day tourists come to shop, find food, and explore the red-light district. In the evening, the streets glow under a dazzling array of neon signs. Although referred to a "red light district," there are no red lights in the literal sense with workers in windows as in Amsterdam. Kabukicho is a lively place and certainly worth a visit to glimpse Tokyo's famous nightlife.Tokyo · 12.5 km from Musashino

Shinjuku City

2.1k reviews
Shinjuku City is one of Tokyo's famous bustling districts, featuring dense shopping malls and skyscrapers, as well as unique attractions like Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden, Shinjuku Golden-Gai, and Kabukicho. A visit usually begins at Shinjuku Station, one of the busiest train stations in Japan, connecting over a dozen railway and subway lines. The area around the station is divided into several commercial districts—the East, South, and West Exits—with dense commercial facilities both above and below ground. It has everything from department stores, electronics retailers, 100-yen shops, and discount stores to trendy clothing boutiques, along with a rich selection of dining options like izakayas and cafes. After dark, Shinjuku City is brilliantly lit, with neon lights and crowds weaving together the unique charm of a major metropolis. West of the station is the skyscraper district, where hotels like Keio, Hilton, and Hyatt, along with numerous high-rise office buildings, are concentrated. The iconic Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building North Observation Deck is also located here. The high-rise building features an observation deck that offers a bird's-eye view of Tokyo, and on clear days, you can even see Mount Fuji in the distance. Not far north of the government building, in front of the I-Land Tower, stands a striking red "LOVE" sculpture that has appeared as a scene in Japanese TV dramas. A short walk northeast from Shinjuku Station brings you to Kabukicho. Every night, layers of neon signs light up, and the area is densely packed with leisure spots like izakayas, restaurants, cinemas, and arcades. Adjacent to Kabukicho is Shinjuku Golden-Gai, which consists of several narrow alleys that retain wooden huts from the Showa era and are home to numerous micro-bars with distinct styles. For concentrated shopping, department stores around Shinjuku Station like Odakyu, Keio, ISETAN (Shinjuku Store), and Takashimaya are all great choices. If you prefer a more leisurely pace, take a walk southeast of the station to Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden, where you can enjoy cherry blossoms in spring, foliage in the fall, and lush greenery in midsummer. It is also the setting for the animated film "The Garden of Words." Additionally, renowned institutions like Waseda University are located in this area.Tokyo · 12.7 km from Musashino

TeamLab Planets TOKYO

3.6k reviews
TeamLab Planets TOKYO is an immersive digital art attraction created by art collective teamLab where visitors "step into water." Here, you take off your shoes, roll up your pants, and walk barefoot through water, strolling among flowers and light. The artworks are generated in real-time by algorithms and continuously transform in response to your movements and those around you, subtly blurring the boundaries between people, artworks, and others. This venue once set the Guinness World Record for annual attendance by a single art group's attraction and has twice been awarded "Asia's leading tourist attraction" at the World Travel Awards. Water-themed spaces are the signature here. "The infinite water surface depicted by dancing koi and people" allows you to step into water approx. knee-deep, where countless koi swim across the endlessly extending surface, transforming into scattered flowers upon contact and blooming flora that changes with the seasons. In the "Boundless crystal universe," strings of light sculptures stretch infinitely in all directions, letting you use your phone to cast stars into the space and personally shape this sea of stars. The garden area's "Floating garden" fills the entire space with soil-free orchids growing in midair, where flowers rise as you walk and their fragrance subtly shifts with the time of day. The "Sports forest" zone transforms the art museum into a three-dimensional playground: leap on glowing bouncing balls, climb colorful poles suspended in midair, step on balance stones that change with your movements, and explore the world with your body. The "Capture and collect forest" lets you use a mobile app to capture various extinct animals and compile your own illustrated guide. The "Co-create! Future garden" invites everyone to paint together, with finished airplanes and butterflies flying into the world in 3D—especially great for family-friendly fun. Experience tips: Barefoot is required in water and garden areas. We recommend wearing pants or shorts with roll-up hems for convenience. Some areas have mirrored floors where pants are more practical than skirts. For 3D exploration areas like the sports forest, wear shoes suitable for activity. △Carp swim across the boundless water surface. When they collide with people, they scatter and flee into the flowers. △A series of light sculptures extend infinitely. △In this space, a world full of life is unfolding, with flowers blooming all year round, constantly changing and evolving over time.Tokyo · 21.6 km from Musashino

Ueno Park

4.7/5
2.4k reviews
Ueno Park is one of the largest parks in Tokyo. With its many facilities, you can stroll around to soak in the natural beauty and cultural charm, or spend an entire day exploring its art and culture. Every spring, the park transforms into a sea of cherry blossoms, attracting visitors from far and wide. A prime spot for cherry blossom viewing This is a famous cherry blossom viewing spot in Tokyo. The park currently has over 1,000 cherry trees, with the "Somei Yoshino" variety, discovered right here in Ueno Park, being particularly iconic. When the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, Ueno Park becomes one of the most popular spots for locals to enjoy the flowers. The cherry blossom avenue is a must-visit spot; when the wind blows, the falling petals create a spectacular "rain" of blossoms—this is the very place that inspired Lu Xun's famous line about the cherry blossoms in Ueno. The "Cherry Blossom Festival" is held annually during this time, and at dusk, the park lights up, illuminating the blossoms for a truly enchanting experience. Shinobazu Pond If you miss the "Cherry Blossom Festival," don't miss Shinobazu Pond in the southwest of the park. In summer, the melodious music from the outdoor concert hall complements the lotus flowers in the pond, while black swans, wild geese, and mandarin ducks swim gracefully on the water, making for a delightful scene. You can also visit the 4-story aquarium by Shinobazu Pond to see nearly 600 species of aquatic animals. Ueno Zoological Gardens In the northwest of the park lies Ueno Zoological Gardens, home to approx. 500 species of rare birds and animals. The zoo is divided into East and West Gardens. The East Garden is very popular, featuring two giant pandas from China, "Ri Ri" and "Shin Shin." The West Garden includes a petting zoo with small animals like pygmy goats and ostriches. The Peony Garden next to the zoo is a memorial garden established in 1980 to commemorate friendship between China and Japan. The "Lion Head" peonies here are particularly vibrant and worth seeing. In winter, you can also see winter peonies blooming within protective enclosures—a rare sight that can only be found here in Tokyo. Historical sites Beyond the stunning natural scenery, the park is home to many historical sites worth visiting. The bronze statues scattered throughout the park are a major feature. Additionally, the park contains historical sites such as Ueno Toshogu Shrine, Kan'ei-ji, the Tokugawa Mausoleum, and Kiyomizu Kannon-dō Temple, earning it the reputation as a "treasure trove of historical sites and cultural assets." Be sure to check out the Toshogu Shrine, a masterpiece of classical Japanese architecture, where the 6m-tall "Ghost Lantern" is a true highlight. It also houses many important cultural artifacts. Museums and art galleries Another major feature of Ueno Park is its abundance of cultural and art venues. One of these, the Hyokeikan, is a representative example of Western-style architecture from the late Meiji period and is a treasure in its own right. The National Museum of Western Art houses many masterpieces by renowned artists. The Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum exhibits masterpieces such as traditional Japanese ukiyo-e and oil paintings. There are also the National Museum of Nature and Science, Tokyo Metropolitan Festival Hall, The Ueno Royal Museum, and the Shitamachi Museum, which is why Ueno Park is often called a "forest of culture."Tokyo · 18.7 km from Musashino

In addition to large-scale special exhibitions that uniquely introduce global trends in contemporary art, the museum also hosts a variety of programs, including collection exhibitions and film screenings. This contemporary art museum is open to the world, allowing visitors to experience a diverse range of art from around the world, with a focus on the Asia-Pacific region. "Roppongi Crossing" is a series of exhibitions that Mori Art Museum has been holding every three years since 2004 as a fixed-point observational survey of the Japanese contemporary art scene, co-curated. This eighth edition will feature a curator from the Mori Art Museum as well as two internationally active guest curators from Asia, and will introduce 21 artists, regardless of nationality, who are active in Japan or have roots in Japan but are active overseas, under the theme of "time." The exhibited works include not only paintings, sculptures, and videos, but also crafts, handicrafts, zines, and even community projects. This exhibition will bring together a diverse and varied range of expressions, including an immersive installation by A.A. Murakami, who has garnered international attention for his work transcending the boundaries of architecture and design; a large, colorful ceramic work by Takuro Kuwata, who has also been garnering attention for his collaborations with overseas fashion houses, exuding stunning sculptural beauty; a new sound piece by Miyu Hosoi, who creates works using her own voice and ambient sounds, including stage productions; and Junko Oki, who has received high praise both at home and abroad in recent years, whose embroidery pieces resemble abstract paintings, created with delicate handwork. The subtitle of this exhibition, "Time Passes, We Are Eternal," refers to the preciousness and transience of time. Through the various intersections of time that appear in each work, we will reexamine Japanese art from various angles.Tokyo · 16 km from Musashino

The Imperial Palace is located in Chiyoda District, Tokyo. It is the core area of the Japanese Emperor's residence and is full of mystery. It covers an area of about 17 hectares and is surrounded by moats, stone walls and about 300,000 ancient trees from all over Japan. The inner courtyard buildings are mostly in traditional Japanese style, with green tiles, white walls and brown copper columns, which are elegant and simple. Among them, the main hall "Matsu no Kaku" is the venue for the main activities of the royal family and diplomatic etiquette, and important ceremonies are solemnly held here. The Chowaden is about 200 meters wide and is where the emperor receives congratulations. Although it is a typical traditional Japanese style, it is built with modern materials. In addition, there are buildings such as the Flower Shadow Pavilion and the Waterfall Viewing Pavilion in the palace, which complement the exquisite garden landscape. On special occasions such as the New Year and the Emperor's birthday, the public can enter the inner courtyard through the Nijubashi Bridge to feel the solemn atmosphere of the royal family.Tokyo · 17.2 km from Musashino

The location is great... full of action, colour, and people, if you have light sensitivity, avoid the area! There is plenty of food, shops, and playing arcades too and large walking only streets, though this is after dark, I'm not sure if it's the same in daylight.

Stepping into this mountain forest, favored by time, is like entering a slowly unfolding three-dimensional painting. Morning mist, like gauze, gently entwines the verdant peaks, sunlight filters through the leaves, casting dappled shadows, each step resonating with the breath of nature. Ancient trees reach for the sky, their gnarled branches telling tales of centuries of wind and rain and unwavering perseverance; the babbling brook, crystal clear, is like the earth's whispered poetry. A mountain breeze caresses the face, carrying the fragrance of grass and earth, instantly banishing the hustle and bustle of the world. Birdsong echoes from the depths of the forest, crisp and melodious, like celestial music, adding a touch of vibrancy to the tranquility. Wildflowers dot the path, unassuming yet adorning every inch of the land with their tenacious vitality. Looking out from the summit, the mountains stretch endlessly, a sea of clouds surging, as if heaven and earth have merged into one. Standing atop the mountain, my heart moved by the scenery, I suddenly understood that true beauty is never clamorous, but rather silently awes the soul. At that moment, I didn't want to blink, afraid of missing even the slightest bit of nature's charm. It turns out, the most beautiful scenery isn't far away, but in the instant you're willing to stop and feel it with your heart. Slowly climbing along the old stone path entwined with wild vines, the wind carried the faint fragrance of wild jujube blossoms and the cool mist from the ravine below. A small lizard, its long tail trailing behind, darted into a crevice in the rocks, leaving behind the daily worries that lingered in my heart with each step. The higher I climbed, the wider the view became. Layer upon layer of verdant mountains unfolded in the flowing thin clouds, and in the distance, reed beds swayed in the wind, creating pale white ripples. A few water birds skimmed across the lake, and even the air seemed to soften. There were no noisy announcements or hawkers along the way, only local villagers carrying bamboo baskets, smiling as they handed you a few freshly picked wild akebia fruit. Peeling off the thin skin and taking a bite, the soft, sweet flesh instantly filled your mouth. Standing on the mountaintop, the wind billowed my coat, and the pent-up frustration of the past two weeks vanished with a long howl. Suddenly, I realized that those little things that kept me up at night were nothing compared to the vast mountain scenery. On my way down, I picked a few reeds covered in morning dew and put them in a glass bottle at my lodging. For the next few days, I could look up and see the wild beauty everywhere I looked.

Had such a fun day at Tokyo DisneySea! The whole place is so pretty and there’s so much to see and do. Fantasy Springs was definitely one of my favorite parts, especially the Frozen area 🥹❄️I booked the ticket through Trip.com and it was super convenient and easy. No hassle at all. The whole process was really smooth. It was pretty crowded, but still such a fun day overall. Definitely worth visiting if you’re in Tokyo!

Having traveled extensively and stayed in numerous places, few places have embodied the word "comfort" in every little detail like this. The mattress's firmness is just right to support a back after a long day, the non-slip mat in the bathroom is securely placed, and even the brightness of the bedside lamp is not dazzling. Most remarkably, the service is exceptionally attentive: if you're looking at a map in the lobby, someone immediately approaches to ask if you need help planning your route; if you want to eat quietly in the restaurant, the waiter serves the food and then quietly retreats a short distance away, without repeatedly bothering you. Everyone's smile is genuine, not a forced expression from a training script. Here, you can shed all the fatigue of your journey, sleep soundly for a few nights, and experience a long-lost tranquility and peace of mind—an experience that money can't buy.
