National Day disaster! This Japanese-style hotel, priced three times higher than usual, offered a shower experience that was utterly dreadful. I booked this Japanese-style hotel for my National Day trip, and the price was triple the usual rate. I expected a matching experience, but the awful shower completely ruined my good mood! The most outrageous issues were the shower's safety and design. The edge of the bathtub was incredibly slippery, with absolutely no anti-slip reinforcement. Three toiletries were placed directly on the edge, and during my shower, the shampoo bottle fell twice, landing heavily on my toes. The pain instantly put me off showering. There wasn't even basic safety protection. Even more frustrating was adjusting the shower temperature. The cold water came out incredibly slowly. Finding the right temperature required repeated attempts – it was either scalding hot at first, or I'd have to wait ages for the cold water to come through. This severely impacted my shower efficiency and was completely unacceptable for a hotel at this price point. I do not recommend staying here.

There's more to it than I expected. I thought it was a small hotel, but it turned out to be a Japanese-style hotel. I've always stayed at this chain and it's good value for money, but the breakfast this time was average. Everything else was good.

Located in quiet area (near Ōsaka Social Medical Center Hospital). Close to Shinsekai area, mega don quijote, daiso, etc. Also close to JR Shin-Imamiya. A quiet location, clean room, clean bathroom. You can leave your luggage before check-in time. We can check in until 10PM with easy rules and also easy rules to check-out. A little regretful that we only stayed one night before heading to Kansai Airport.

Overall the staff were almost nice and helpful. But there was one staff on the night shift forced to speak Mandarin to us even we talked in English to him. He sounded rude and not willing to talk more and ask us to check in the room. The room was just ok to us in terms of size but it looked old and stains are found in the toilet. The carpet seemed not cleaned regularly and toilet bowl was not the smart toilet which disappointed us. We thought that the smart toilet was the standard in Japan. Never meet this kind of room type in Japan. The location was nice and convenient. It was very closed to Ebisu food street and Tsutenkaku Tower. There are many shopping areas so this location is very convenient.

If you’re a solo traveller and don’t mind a few scratches on the wall, this hotel is perfect for you. It’s very convenient—just a 5-minute walk to the lift down to the MRT station. The bed and room are surprisingly big and comfortable for Osaka standards. Also, the neighbourhood is quite lively and welcoming, with some interesting spots nearby if you’re looking to explore the local scene in the evening 😉

It wasn't exactly close to the station, but it was convenient and there were restaurants nearby, so I had no problems at all. The amenities in the guest room were new and I was able to use it comfortably. I was quite satisfied with the room for a solo business trip.

The rooms are decent, and the location is convenient, very close to Shinsaibashi. There are many convenience stores nearby, as well as a McDonald's. It's just a 100-meter walk to Yotsubashi subway station, making transportation very easy. I had a great time.

The staff were lovely and the service was very good. I especially liked that the bags were taken to my room in advance while we travelled around Osaka before check-in time. The room was maybe slightly bigger than average in Japan, for the price range, and the bathroom was certainly larger. Bed was very comfortable and made for a pleasant night's sleep. Location was great.

This hotel is really great. It's about 300 meters from the subway station. To the left of the hotel, about 300-400 meters away, is the Osaka Prefectural Police Headquarters – super convenient if you're a Conan fan and want to visit! A little further on is Osaka Castle Park, which is a lovely walk. The room was clean and not small; two 26-inch suitcases could lie flat. The front desk staff spoke English, were very patient, and communication was seamless. It seems to be a church-affiliated hotel, as many Europeans and Americans were staying there. They even have complimentary samples like facial cleanser and face cream at the front desk, which is a nice touch.

This is a small room by any western standards, but pretty avg. for Japan. The location is good, and the small cafe at the entrance serves quite nice toast variations. The rooms are cleaned and sheets/towels changed daily. The washing machine/dryer is useful for a 3-hour clothes wash and quite cheap. However, the walls had smears of people's bogies or blood, and the wall paper was peeling. The lighting and switches felt from the 80's despite Trip.com saying this was a renovated hotel - I think this is common in Japan now. For a solo traveller, the unused second twin bed is useful as a storage place - otherwise there's little walking space. I would stay again for a short trip, but would look for alternatives for more than 7-days. 4-stars.

GGuest UserCompared to places back home, it's definitely on the smaller side, but for Japan, the size is actually quite acceptable. It wasn't as cramped or dated as I'd imagined. With the lights on, it felt quite cozy, and the window provided good natural light. My only minor gripes were the lack of complimentary water and that housekeeping only came every three days. On the plus side, there's a 7-Eleven nearby, which is super convenient, and it's also very close to Tenkachaya Station. The neighborhood is residential and felt very safe, completely unlike what some online comments suggest about the 'western district' being full of homeless people; even at 9 or 10 PM, there were no drunks or homeless individuals around. Luggage storage is under camera surveillance with no staff supervision, which initially made me a little worried, but my bags were perfectly safe after half a day. All in all, it's very affordable and offers excellent value for money. 🫶

AAnonymous UserLocation is super strategic — the metro station is literally 2 minutes away, super convenient for exploring the city. Right next to the hotel is AEON Food Style, open 24 hours, so late-night snacks are never a problem Room is clean, comfy, and practical. The buffet breakfast is surprisingly good with plenty of choices — a great start to every morning! Overall, great value and great stay!

PPstravelHave stayed at the main tower and the residence tower. The family room for residence tower is so much better, very spacious and with lots of space to put luggage. There’s a washing machine within the room and toilet and shower are separated, very good design especially when staying in a group for 4. Location wise is good, room is clean too. 7-11 is just right downstairs beside the the residence tower, metro is nearby as well.

MMaria CharoThe hotel is in between Shinsaibashi Station and Nagahoribashi Station. The staff are polite and friendly. The room is decent size for two people, though 2 open luggages can only be done halfway open, but sti ok. There’s free hot & cold drinks at the lounge area which is open from 5am to 12mn. The buffet breakfast is nice, mostly local Japanese foods (which we like), i can say that the cereal can be considered western. 😁 There’s a family mart just 2-5mins walk. And you can also walk to Namba from the hotel. Overall, it is a good hotel choice when in Osaka.

DDr. Justin HattThis hotel appears to have recently been purchased by the LiveMax Group and so, it was really challenging trying to find this location when I first arrived because the name on trip.com had changed, but the name on various map applications still referred to the original name. The location itself is pretty much halfway between two metro stations, so it is a little bit of a walk away from a station, which is a bit of a problem when you have luggage, although this can easily be rectified by getting a taxi using Uber or another similar application. One thing to note about the location that might be a concern for some particular guests is that there are a lot of bars and locations nearby, including one neighbouring location, that provide explicit services for more “mature” audiences. Generally speaking, though, there were no issues that came up, particularly with the location itself as it remained generally quiet, and Japan is usually considered a safer location for visiting anyway. Staff at the hotel can speak some English, which is good, and they are very helpful. Their service was great throughout. There is also a breakfast buffet every morning, and they serve a wide variety of foods in this buffet; the only thing you need to watch out for is to make sure that you eat everything that you take because they have a clear sign posted to tell you that they will charge a fee if you waste food unnecessarily. The hotel does have a laundromat below ground level, but I did not see much else for amenities. The hotel offers house cleaning daily, but you must request it at reception before 10 AM; otherwise, they will not service your room. The room itself was small, but I understood this going into the hotel and as a solo traveler, this was reasonable. There is a capsule style washroom in the room, similar to other hotels I have visited in Osaka, with a full toilet with bidet features And a tap that works for the sink and bathtub both. The bathtub, however, was smaller at one end and was more challenging to use, especially for me as someone who is a little bit bigger, although not impossible. The one major issue I had, though, was with the ventilation above the bathtub, which clearly was caked in dust; I was able to clean out the dust myself, but I did require house cleaning immediately after. I did have to request house cleaning a few times during the stay, not solely for the issue of the dust, but also because the towels that were provided were not very thick and so, needed to be replaced more often.

GGuest UserIt is just opposite Bentencho Station, just across the street, and the transportation is very convenient. It takes 20 minutes to get to Universal by subway. Tips: When transferring, you can get off directly on the opposite side and transfer, which is very convenient, and their train schedules are well matched, so you don't have to wait for the train. There are two 711s downstairs, a life 350m away, and a Don Quijote 900m away. You can also take the subway to Osaka Station for shopping, which is also very convenient! The hotel's breakfast is free for guests! No need to spend extra money, don't book the one with breakfast! The room has a bathtub, and there are free bath salts on the first floor. I saw a comment about the problem of storing luggage for money, because we left in the morning, so we didn't store it. However, all subway stations have storage machines (charged), you can pay attention to it.

__WeChat299669****The room is tiny, just right for one person; any more and you'd be fighting for space. My 28-inch suitcase couldn't stay open, but there was room to store it when closed. There's hardly any staff around, which actually made for a very relaxed stay. The location is decent; if you're up for a walk, you can get to Shinsaibashi in less than half an hour. The closest subway station is about 500 meters away, a straight shot. There's a FamilyMart right next door, which is super convenient. The soundproofing isn't great, but the hot water in the bathroom was perfect for a bath.

RRowell SantiagoI recently stayed at Hotel Cargo Shinsaibashi during my trip to Osaka, and I was pleasantly surprised by the comfort and quality packed into this compact, capsule-style accommodation. One of the biggest highlights of my stay was the toilet and bathroom area — exceptionally clean, modern, and cozy. Despite being a shared facility, everything was spotless and well-maintained at all times. The design was sleek, and the space felt more like a boutique hotel than a budget capsule. The toilets are equipped with Japan’s signature high-tech bidet functions, and the overall cleanliness really exceeded my expectations. Even the subtle lighting and warm wood tones added to the relaxing feel every time I used the bathroom. The rest of the hotel was equally impressive. The capsules were comfortable, quiet, and felt more private than I expected. The lounge area was a nice place to relax or do a bit of planning for the day. Plus, the location is perfect — just a short walk from Shinsaibashi shopping street and a quick train ride to most Osaka hotspots. If you’re looking for a well-designed, clean, and cozy place to stay in Osaka, I highly recommend Hotel Cargo Shinsaibashi. Especially if you value hygiene and comfort in shared facilities, this hotel delivers above and beyond.

MM224157****The room was very clean, the bed was comfortable, and it was quiet. The location is quite convenient, close to all the popular attractions. The front desk staff had excellent service. Due to personal reasons, I had to go to Tokyo for two days, but I was returning to this hotel for my last night. The hotel helped me store my luggage for two days, which allowed me to explore Tokyo hassle-free. I was very happy about that. Although the hotel breakfast didn't have a huge variety, the ingredients were good.

GGuest UserTLDR: Beware of excessive hidden charges for additional guests (JPY 5,000/night vs. normal rate JPY 1,500/night). Nice hotel with good location, but lacks transparency in pricing policies. Not recommended due to unreasonable extra charges. I recently stayed here and had an unpleasant encounter. I made a mistake booking for 1 person instead of 2, and informed the front desk upon check-in to correct this. Rather than charging us the rate difference (about JPY 1,500 extra per night as shown on the hotel website for the same room type & period of dates), they demanded JPY 5,000 per night for the additional person - more than 3 times higher than the normal rate. This pricing felt unfair considering we used the same room with no upgrades or additional services. The hotel only provides housekeeping every 3 days, so there was no extra cleaning to justify this excess charge. When questioned about this significant price difference, the staff merely stated it was ”hotel policy” but could not show any written documentation or website information about these charges. This lack of transparency is concerning, as guests have no way to anticipate these excessive fees before arrival. On the good side - the hotel itself is clean, stylish, hotel staff are friendly, and it's located near Osaka Station. However, be aware that basic amenities are lacking. Guests need to purchase their own water as the hotel does not provide bottles beyond the first day. I feel like they took advantage of my booking mistake to charge extra money. While the hotel itself is decent, I cannot recommend it due to their hidden charges and unreasonable pricing policies. Would I return? No - the management's approach to pricing and extra charges has permanently lost my trust.
