3-Star Hotels in Kedah, Malaysia

The hotel is quite beautiful, but a bit inconvenient as it's located on a hill, requiring a shuttle bus to get down. Also, you have to pick up amenities yourself. However, the staff's service attitude is very good! There's a Chinese-speaking front desk staff. At night, you can hear crickets and cicadas, and in the morning, there's a chance to see small monkeys.

The reception staff seem to have an issue when asked questions, like they can't be bothered to help. For example, I asked if I could hang my swimming clothes for a bit near the pool because I was flying back soon, but they all said no. However, other staff, like the cleaning crew, were very helpful. They told me I could hang them here and there. This was really helpful because I mentioned I was catching a flight. All the breakfast staff were good and helpful. The breakfast was delicious. The hotel ambiance was great and beautiful. There were also restaurants within the hotel area. Cenang Beach is less than 5 minutes away. The only downside was the reception. They should be a bit more creative.

We stayed at the hotel for two nights. The grounds are well-kept, but not very cozy. It was sparsely populated, the pool was small and green, and our child really wanted to splash around in the pool. We'd chosen a room with a pool, but we didn't get to use it. The location is good, close to the aquarium and Chenang Square. There's an excellent warung nearby; we only ate there, and people we met recommended it, and we often met there. The hotel is okay for 1-2 nights, but nothing more.

I loved the location – right by the sea, quiet and incredibly relaxing, perfect for unwinding. The owner was also fantastic, very warm, welcoming, and attentive to guests. It’s centrally located, so everything is within easy reach. The bed was really clean, which is something I always prioritize. I had a wonderful stay and would definitely choose this place again next time.

Overall, it's a decent hotel. The grounds are clean and regularly maintained, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The 50 MYR deposit is returned without any issues. They provide receipts for the environmental fee for each day. The rooms are large. We ended up with a very dusty room. We asked for it to be cleaned, and they did it the next day. Housekeeping is by request, not daily. The bedding was spotless – it was a pleasure to sleep on the huge bed. You can ask the staff to heat up food for you. The hot and cold water dispensers are also very convenient. There are monkeys on the property, and they might steal food, so it's best not to leave anything out. The hotel isn't very conveniently located if you don't have transportation. We rented a motorbike, so it was fine for us. People on foot complained that it was far to shops, cafes, and the beach. As far as we understood, there's no motorbike rental at the hotel. We rented a bike nearby, about 1.5 km from the hotel, and the hotel staff actually recommended a very good service there. The overall impression of our stay was good; if the room had been cleaner, it would have been absolutely perfect.

Initially, I was assigned a room on the first floor, even though I booked a deluxe twin room. When I entered, I couldn't see anything 'deluxe' about it. It was just a very, very ordinary Shenzhen seaside apartment-style room, and not even as new as typical Shenzhen apartments. It looked run-down and dated, like something out of the 80s, though it was managed like a hotel with staff, not fully self-service, and there was a front desk for deposits and 'cultural relic maintenance fees'. The main issue was being on the first floor near the kitchen, with no outward-facing windows. The only window opened onto a small corridor where people could walk by. The experience was terrible, with no view whatsoever. Plus, there was a locked door inside the room that couldn't be opened from my side. I had no idea what was on the other side, or if it could be opened from there – quite a scary thought (see picture 4). I then contacted Trip.com customer service to help communicate with the hotel. They said there were no rooms available on other floors, but for an extra 40 MYR paid at the front desk, I could switch to a treehouse room on the 4th floor. I paid the additional 40 MYR myself, and it was much more comfortable – a private courtyard (see picture 5). Picture 2 shows the hotel restaurant, which was actually what made me choose this hotel based on Trip.com's beautiful photo, but the initial room was really bad. After paying extra for the treehouse room, it was quite good; at least I felt safe and didn't have to worry about someone on the other side of that door opening it in the middle of the night.

Located on the edge of Cenang Beach, about a seven or eight-minute walk from the beach, this single-story, courtyard-style hotel sits by the roadside. The swimming pool in the courtyard and the lounge area outside each room are quite beautiful, and the bathrooms in the rooms are relatively large. However, the hygiene of the linens is rather poor; the bedding has obvious old and stained marks, and the bath towels are yellowed and not very hygienic. The hotel service, however, is acceptable; any requests are readily accommodated. The popular Zhenlang Seafood Restaurant is just a ten-minute walk away, and there's a mobile night market near the hotel every Thursday. It's also close to the airport, with a round trip taking only about ten minutes.

If you're a family of four, I recommend booking two queen-size rooms. They're better value and cleaner. The room with one queen bed and two separate single beds was very uncomfortable, had ants, and faced a garage. Also, don't bother with the breakfast; you're better off eating somewhere else near the beach. That's the only positive thing I can say.

I booked a garden view bungalow at a reasonable price, so I wasn't expecting anything extraordinary. This hotel has a super convenient location, and the front desk staff are friendly. The breakfast isn't bad either; it's not fancy, but again, considering the price, it's a budget hotel. We booked two bungalows, 100 and 204. In 204, the air conditioner was incredibly dirty and covered in dust. I think at the very least, they could clean the dust that's practically falling on your head; it's not expensive and doesn't require much effort. Also, there are no adapters in the room for standard power outlets. Overall, if you're a budget traveler who understands what you're getting and for what price, I would recommend this hotel.

Loved this hotel! The staff were super friendly, the room was spacious with a bathtub, and they even have free-flow alcohol (FREE!) They also have 3 fluffy little staff members🐱one even followed me into my room and watched TV with me hahaha Would totally come back to Langkawi just for this stay!!
