Suoluo National Nature Reserve

Guizhou Chishui Alsophila Natural Reserve (hereinafter referred to as Alsophila Reserve) takes Alsophila and other national rare and endangered plants and animals and natural ecosystems as its main protection objects, with a protected area of ​​13,300 hectares. The forests in the Reserve are mostly evergreen broad-leaved forests, covering an area of ​​185,000 mu, most of which are original natural forests, playing an important role in soil and water conservation in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River. The Sizhan River and Jinsha River are mainly natural evergreen broad-leaved forests, followed by bamboo forests and fir and pine forests. In addition to natural evergreen broad-leaved forests, Banqiao River is pine forest or pine and fir forest. After the national natural protection project was fully launched, the fir, pine and miscellaneous woods in the area were all prohibited from being cut down. The bamboo forest can be selectively cut down for breeding purposes, with an annual cutting volume of 100,000 roots.

The rocks in the tree protection area are red sandstone exposed in the Jurassic period. After long-term weathering and erosion, they have developed into "Danxia landforms" along the joints, with unique landscapes. The valleys in the area are subtropical landscapes. Some subtropical plants, such as Alsophila spinulosa, wild banana, calla lily, Fujian Guanyin Sea Lotus, and subtropical animals, such as red-headed trogon, fork-tailed sunbird, muskrat, yellow-bellied weasel, weasel badger, needle-haired rat, etc., grow and live here. Therefore, experts call this a "South Asian enclave". People can enjoy the subtropical landscape here, which is very rare. The mountains in the area are high and steep, the valleys are deep, and the vertical difference is large. After rain, the stream water pours down from the top of the mountain. The mountains are full of silver waterfalls, and people call it the "Thousand Waterfalls Area", and its scenery is intoxicating. The tree protection area is lush and beautiful, the peaks are strange and beautiful, the water is clear and varied, the valleys are quiet, the flowers and trees are fragrant, the birds sing and the cicadas sing in rhythm, and the exotic flowers and plants, birds and beasts are fascinating. Alsophila spinulosa is an ancient relict fern plant that coexisted and thrived with dinosaurs in the Jurassic period 180 million years ago. Most of them are now extinct on Earth, and only a few have survived in "refuges". Its habitat is ancient and primitive. There are about 60,000 Alsophila spinulosa plants in the area, and the outside world calls it the "Altha Kingdom". Therefore, the National Tourism Administration has established the authentic "China Jurassic Ecological Park" here, where people can return to nature, return to simplicity, cultivate sentiments, and increase knowledge. It is a great place to develop ecotourism.
