Datong Museum(Datong City Museum)

Datong Museum is a comprehensive museum, now a national first-class museum. It contains more than 10,000 pieces of cultural relics, and the majority of them are locally found. There are four exhibition halls in the pavilion, each of which shows the gorgeousness of Datong as the capital of Northern Wei Dynasty. The displays mainly include the ceremonial troops unearthed from Sima Jinlong's tomb, the headstones of Song Shaozu's ancestors, Persian silver coins, Xianbei accessories, and the Northern Wei Dynasty celadon. Among them, the stone carvings unearthed in the Northern Wei architectural sites outside the South Gate of Datong City are rarely seen in the art of stone carving.
