We enjoyed the hot springs. The kids wanted to try something else (skating and so on). A bit expensive for tourists, but it was worth it. After driving from QT for an hour, on the way to Christchurch, this provides a place to relax. We didn’t prepare, but they let us rent a set for $5 (swimming suit/towels). The lockers worked well. The only missing amenities: soap and shampoo in the shower room.
