Xu Guo Stone Archway

Xu Guoshifang is in the area of Jixian County, Huangshan City, Anhui Province, also known as University Shifang, this archway building is very special, not the usual four pillars, but eight pillars, forming four sides, commonly known as "octagon archway", the country is only this case. The southeast and northwest of the archway, both inside and outside, have exquisite pictures, such as dragon flying, fish Yuelongmen, gong play color ball, Feng wearing peony, etc., it is worth tasting.

The most famous of the more than 20 national cultural relics protection units in Jixian County, the only eight-legged archway in the country. At that time, Huizhou people were a archway for Xu University, and they reported to the court after they were built. Four more feet could only be gone. The archway is right next to the Huizhou mansion and is worth a look.

Xu Guo, a cabinet university graduate in Ming Wanli, was honored for his work in his hometown of Jixian to build this stone square. Xu Guoshifang is a landmark of the ancient city of Huizhou and the top representative of the Huizhou archway that has been retained to date. I went to Huizhou once when I was a child. The only building that left an impression was this Dashifang. This time I visited again and took a careful picture of Shifang up and down. In Beijing's Xiannongtan Ancient Architecture Museum, there is also a not-small model of Xu Guoshifang.

This stone square is not special from the outside, but the structure is relatively unique, because it is eight pillars, only one case in the country. Therefore, it has obvious characteristics, reflecting the scenery when the officials returned home from their clothes. The overall building is well preserved.

Xu Guoshifang is a rare double archway, it has been standing for 500 years of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, carrying the historical vicissitudes is so heavy. Xu Guoshifang is the most outstanding representative of Huizhou Shifang, which comprehensively reflects the highest level of Shifang construction technology. As a rare large stone monument in the Ming Dynasty and the only octagonal archway in China, the gong became one of the symbols of the ancient city of Huizhou.
