One of the Oldest Shopping Streets in CQAs an ancient town in the Shapingba District of Chongqing, we had to go and check out what all the fuss was about during our visit there. This old architectural landmark has a history of around 1,000 years, and there are still sections of it that live on today that will allow you a glimpse into the past. It wsa pretty busy throughout our visit during National Week, but it was still a great place to wander through for a couple of hours, dipping into quaint little boutique shops, trying some local delicacies and snapping pictures of the picturesque buildings. Today is the last day in Chongqing, I went to the ancient town of Ciqikou. This place is bigger than I thought. It is still very tired to walk around. However, the commercialization is too serious, and the shops on both sides are basically selling the same tourist goods, and there are no special features.
Ciqikou Ancient Town is located in the center of Chongqing, is a well-preserved ancient town, famous for its unique architectural style, long history and rich cultural connotation. The architectural style of Ciqikou Ancient Town has Bayan characteristics, mainly Ming and Qing buildings, mostly two or three floors of small buildings, using wooden or brick structure, blue tile roof, stone road, simple and elegant. The architectural style of the ancient town is in stark contrast to the modern buildings in downtown Chongqing, making it seem to have traveled to ancient times. Ciqikou Ancient Town has a long history, dating back to the Song Dynasty. According to the history books, Ciqikou in the Ming Dynasty has become a bustling commercial terminal, business travel is gathered, convenient transportation. In the Qing Dynasty, Ciqikou has become a commercial town in the East Sichuan area, and it has a history of hundreds of years. The cultural connotation of Ciqikou Ancient Town is also very rich, with a deep Bayan culture heritage. In the ancient town, you can enjoy traditional Bayan dance, Sichuan drama, book review and other folk art performances, and you can also taste a variety of authentic Chongqing cuisine. The main attractions are the ancient pier, Jiushigang River Beach, Bookstore Tea House, Sculpture, House of Residences, Baolun Temple, Wenchang Palace, Yuanjiayuan, Diaojiaolou, XiaoChongqing Monument, etc.
The ancient town of the mountain city is different. Although there are many people, the scenery on the mountain is really beautiful. The ancient town without a small bridge and flowing water is still beautiful.
