An Unforgettable Wedding Experience at Woodlands — traveler post in Leeds

An Unforgettable Wedding Experience at Woodlands

WOW WOW!!🥹❤️ Our wedding on 1st August 2026 was absolutely amazing. We had booked Woodlands back in 2024 and attended every showcase and event leading up to our big day😅✨—and we’re so glad we did! From our very first visit, which happened to be the first venue we checked out, we immediately knew this was the perfect place to say “I do.”🤍 The staff at Woodlands were incredible—friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help. Whenever we came in for a meeting, they’d ask if we wanted a drink, which was such a thoughtful touch. Our wedding coordinator, Jess Tomlinson, was nothing short of fantastic. She was always available to answer our questions, just an email or call away. Her communication was impeccable, especially during the final run-up to the big day. From start to finish, Jess meticulously helped us plan every detail, ensuring nothing was overlooked. She even switched my complimentary drink to a gin and lemonade and my mum’s to a sex on the beach when we wanted to switch things up😅🧡🍹. Truly amazing! Marc, our toastmaster, was another standout. We had a meeting with him just before the wedding, and he went over every detail, putting our minds at ease. On the day, his energy and personality were unmatched. The wedding breakfast was electric—his lively, booming welcome made it unforgettable! He brought so much hype to the room; it was incredible!😃🥳 Speaking of the food, we were thrilled with our menu tasting—everything was delicious, with perfect portion sizes. On our wedding day, the food was impeccable, and countless guests told us how much they enjoyed it🍴. Huge applause to the kitchen staff and chef👏🏻—their hard work truly shone through. They even left some of our wedding cake in our room for us at the end of the night (thank you!!).🍰 The rooms were spotless, and both the venue and surrounding areas were beautifully maintained. I honestly can’t say enough good things about Woodlands and their outstanding staff. They made our day amazing and unforgettable❤️. Thank you so much, Woodlands! We’ll definitely be back for more delicious meals in the future! – Amy & Josh – 01.08.26.

Accidentally Discovered the Ancient Abbey of Leeds — traveler post in Leeds

Accidentally Discovered the Ancient Abbey of Leeds

Visiting Kirkstall Abbey in Leeds was purely by chance. Sister Deng had a 9:10 PM train from Leeds back to London, and Jen was going to drive her to the station. Since there was still plenty of time, we wanted to find a place near Leeds, not far from the station, where we could pass the time. That’s when this abbey appeared before us. The abbey is about 5 kilometers northwest of Leeds city center, located by the River Aire. It is one of the best-preserved medieval Cistercian (also known as the Order of Cîteaux) abbey ruins in the UK and is a Grade I listed historic site. Featuring Romanesque and early Gothic transitional styles, it is a hallmark of the Cistercian order’s minimalist stone architecture, without elaborate carvings; its giant arched windows, the remains of the bell tower, and the intact cloister foundations offer excellent photographic appeal. Managed by Leeds City Council, it is open to the public free of charge.

We accidentally came across the oil painting-like Roundhay Park🖼️

#JanuaryGoodPlaces2025 #globaltravel #must-visit-spots-in-the-uk #uktravel #leeds 🎨In Roundhay Park, Leeds in January, there is a hint of freshness in the cold wind and the air is filled with the unique tranquility of winter. But it is full of romantic atmosphere. In this romantic season, stepping into this world like an oil painting, let us feel the warmth and beauty of love in silence, and feel the beauty and tranquility of nature. No matter how the seasons change, this memory will always be treasured in our hearts. 🍀First sight of Yuanhai Park When we walked into the park, the first thing that caught our eyes was the silvery-white frost covering the grass and branches, as if the entire park was wrapped in soft white silk. We wandered through this winter wonderland, stopping occasionally to feel the soft breeze on our faces. 👩🏻🎨Oil painting-like scenery By the lake in the park, the water surface is like a mirror, reflecting the blue sky and tree shadows, like a quiet oil painting. We came to Swan Lake, where several elegant swans were floating on the lake. They were swimming leisurely in the water, forming a quiet and romantic picture. My partner held my hand, pointed at the lake, and said with a smile: "They are just like our love, quiet and elegant." 🖼️Winter sunshine The sunlight shines through the treetops, creating mottled light and shadows, filling the entire park with a warm atmosphere. We walked along the path, holding hands and enjoying the quiet time. Every step is like stepping on a canvas, leaving our footprints and countless memories. 🦢The romance of Swan Lake We sat on a bench by the Swan Lake and enjoyed this moment of tranquility. The scenery by the lake was like a painting. My partner whispered to me, "Even in the cold winter, love can bloom in such a beautiful scenery." These words warmed my heart like the warm sun in winter. 💞Summary As the sun gradually set, the clouds in the sky were dyed with golden light. We decided to leave our final mark in this romantic oil painting world. We lay on the grass in the park, looked up at the sky, and shared each other's dreams and future.

Exceptional Stay at Dakota Manchester — traveler post in Leeds

Exceptional Stay at Dakota Manchester

I recently stayed at Dakota Manchester. I've previously stayed at this location as well as Dakota Glasgow and Leeds, though my experience at Dakota Leeds was less enjoyable. This time, I stayed for one night in the Signature Suite. Upon arrival, I was greeted by Ryan at reception, who checked me in with great professionalism. I have high expectations for service, comfort, and cleanliness at Dakota hotels, and this stay exceeded them. The suite was on the first floor, overlooking the private car park and adjacent to the main road, but the excellent soundproofing and insulation ensured the room was very quiet. The suite featured two separate bathrooms across the corridor—one with a shower and the other with a roll-top bath. It was spacious and came with great amenities, including excellent hot drink-making facilities and a complimentary stocked minibar with essentials. The bedroom was set back from the main door, minimizing noise from the corridor, and sliding doors further separated the bedroom from the entrance. The comfort level in the suite was outstanding. The bedding and pillows were of fantastic quality and incredibly plush. I chose a late 1 p.m. checkout, which allowed me to fully enjoy the suite’s comfort. The full-length blackout curtains were also highly effective. Everything—from the room to the service and cleanliness—was flawless. I highly recommend Dakota Manchester, especially this suite. All my photos were personally taken with an iPhone, not AI-generated.

Lovely Destination with Scenic Gardens and Delightful Dining Options — traveler post in Leeds

Lovely Destination with Scenic Gardens and Delightful Dining Options

A beautiful place to explore, offering numerous walks around the gardens, including the walled garden and lakeside trails. Visitors can also tour the house for an entrance fee. There's a farm for kids and a tea room located in the old stable blocks. We enjoyed a light lunch here, consisting of the quiche of the day and a tuna and cheese toasted panini, paired with two pots of tea. Everything was delightful. It's definitely a spot we plan to visit again.

📅 Itinerary Day1: Arrive in Leeds by train at 2:30pm and walk 10 minutes to hotel check-in.Make advantage of daylight walking around the city center. First go to Leeds corn exchange, which has small shops selling different goods, each with its own characteristics. A little further from Corn Exchange leads to Leeds Kirkgate Market, which is divided into two parts, one covered indoors and the other open-air market. In the indoor store I even saw the site of M&S's origin. Next to the open-air market is the John Lewis department store. Walk all the way from the original Briggate, there are shops on both sides, continue on to Merrion Center. After dark, go back to the hotel to rest😴. Day2: Then walk downtown to Victoria Leeds, next to John Lewis. Go back to the train station and walk around Trinity Leeds to complete the entire City Centre. The hotel staff introduced me to Leeds Dock, which is worth a visit, which also has the Royal Armory Museum. After the visit, you can take a water taxi back to the train station, or take a slow walk back to the City Center by the original river. Day3: Before leaving Leeds, went to Art Gallery, Library, and Town Hall. If you have time you can also visit the City museum. 🏨 Accommodation recommendation: Stay in Roomzzz Aparthotel Leeds. The location is quite convenient.

At Roundhay Park in Leeds, the changing colours bring a special atmosphere to the walking paths and open green spaces. Golden leaves cover the ground, colourful branches stretch across the sky, and the fresh autumn air makes every walk feel refreshing. 🌳🤎 Autumn reminds us that change can be beautiful. As the trees slowly let go of their leaves, the landscape becomes softer, warmer, and full of character. The colours may only last for a short time, which makes these moments even more precious.
