RRose’s travelling: Everything was optimal, from checkin to checkout, the breakfast was decent with a good variety. The 5th floor has a terrasse that’s the only smoking area in the property, the rooftop bar seems nice, but I couldn’t go because it closes at 10 pm and I arrived late. The pool is on the rooftop, small but private. The room has all the necessary amenities and it’s comfortable. The location is the best in the heart of the CBD in Nairobi. Very good price-quality hotel.

GGuest User: The location, cleanliness, service, food, and facilities are all excellent. The only downside is the night club next door, which plays loud music until 4 AM on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. If you're staying on those days, ask the front desk to assign you a room on the side where you can't hear the music. Everything else is great.

GGuest User: This hotel is located in the CBD. While the CBD area can be a bit busy at night, the hotel's security, service, and restaurants are top-notch. The rooms are also very spacious, and there's a gym and an outdoor swimming pool. The hotel boasts three dining options: a 24-hour bar and a buffet restaurant. It's also conveniently close to East Africa's largest mosque and a museum, both great for daytime visits. Plus, there are safe bars and restaurants right next to the hotel that you can check out during the day.

GGuest User: I’m having a wonderful stay at this hotel. The location is excellent, with the metro just a short walk away, making it very convenient to explore the city. The room is spotless, comfortable and has a beautiful view. I am also impressed by how friendly, welcoming, and helpful the front desk staff were. Overall a great experience and I would happily stay here again!

GGuest User: I stayed for a week, and the hotel room was clean. Perhaps because it was a city view room and didn't get much sun, the duvet felt a bit damp. I hadn't noticed this when I stayed in a forest view room before. The staff were very friendly. Just a reminder to everyone to definitely put your valuables in the safe. There's a Carrefour opposite the hotel, making shopping and dining very convenient. You should try all the different egg options at breakfast; I personally thought they were quite good.

EEric.R: we spent 4 days in this superb well-located hotel. The meals were varied, the room very clean, and special mention goes to the many attentive staff members especially to the lady at the travel desk who gave us great advice for our safari in Nairobi National Park and to our Uber driver. One negative point: the pool is not heated.

YYao bukeyan: This is a relatively new and luxurious hotel in Nairobi. Security is very strict, with security personnel questioning guests at the entrance, dogs checking for explosives, and even armed security personnel checking bags in the lobby. However, there's no need to worry about security; it's purely a government requirement. The staff at the hotel are very nice, from the front desk to the concierge and the restaurant. Everyone is friendly and willing to help with any questions. The hotel has comprehensive facilities, including table tennis, darts, a gym, and an outdoor swimming pool. The restaurant offers a rich breakfast and excellent coffee. The hotel's location isn't very central, so there are no restaurants nearby. You can either dine at the hotel or take an Uber to the nearby village market, which offers both food and shopping. It's very convenient.

GGuest User: My stay at Pride Inn Azure was fantastic. The staff were accommodating, friendly, helpful, kind. Everyone smiled and went above and beyond if I had any questions. The room was huge. The bed was so comfortable. I slept like a baby both nights. The breakfast was very tasty, with so many options to choose from. The service was outstanding. The hotel’s décor and furnishings was immaculate. I felt very comfortable here and I highly recommend it. As a solo traveller I felt very safe. The only thing that’s a bit uncomfortable is where the pool is located. You have to walk past the outdoor restaurant seating to go to the pool. I wish the changing rooms lead directly to the pool. I didn’t use the pool for that reason. The gym had great equipment. There was a personal trainer there who helped me achieve a fantastic full body workout. He was brilliant. I love mostly everything about the hotel. I’d love to thank Maryann in particular for her outstanding service. She’s a real gem. But honestly, all the staff were amazing. The hotel is also in a great location - woth shops and malls within a short walking distance. I’ll be back and I’ll tell everyone I know about my experience. Thank you!!

If you’re tired of mountains, rivers, and seas, Masai Mara will show you what a “shock of life” really means. Masai Mara National Reserve is located in southwestern Kenya, connected to Tanzania’s Serengeti, forming the largest wildlife ecosystem on earth. It’s a frequent feature on BBC’s Life’s 50 Places to Go and tops the list of the world’s natural wonders. There are no fixed landscapes here—everything changes by the hour and every day is different. 🐃 Great migration of wildebeest: the most breathtaking animal event on earth From July to October each year, over 1 million wildebeest and 200,000 zebras travel north from Tanzania’s Serengeti, crossing the Mara River into Kenya’s Masai Mara. The most thrilling moment is the “crossing of heaven”—wildebeest gather at the riverbank, crocodiles lurk underwater, hippos watch from the shore, and the wildebeest leap into the rushing river, fighting to cross between the rapids and predators. Those who make it are the lucky ones; those taken by crocodiles are part of nature’s law. No number of BBC documentaries compares to the shock of witnessing that moment in person. 🦁 Big five safari: the ultimate list of African wildlife Masai Mara is one of the best places to see the “big five” (lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo, leopard). Set off early in an open-top safari vehicle—cheetahs resting on rocks, lions napping under trees, elephants strolling across the plains—this is the most authentic daily life. Locals call safari a “game drive.” It’s not a zoo visit; it’s a hunt—using your eyes and camera. What you see depends on luck. Leopards in trees, lions hunting, wildebeest crossing the river—everyone witnesses different stories unfolding on the same grassland. Be sure to find a Masai guide who grew up with these animals and can read footprints to tell which way the elephants just passed. 🌅 Hot air balloon safari: see the African savanna from above Wake up at 4 AM and board a hot air balloon in the dark. As dawn breaks, you rise above endless golden grasslands, wildebeest and zebras running in the morning light, a few solitary acacia trees in the distance, and elephants quietly feeding beneath them. When the sun rises over the horizon, the entire savanna turns orange-red—more vast than any movie scene. After landing, enjoy a champagne breakfast on the plains—one of Masai Mara’s most unique experiences. 📌 Practical information · Visa: Kenya e-visa (ETA) · Transportation: fly to Nairobi, then take a small plane to Masai Mara (about 45 minutes); or drive from Nairobi for about 5–6 hours · Best season: July–October (wildebeest migration), January–February (dry season, animals gather near water) · Suggested itinerary: 3–4 nights recommended, with a game drive each morning and evening (when animals are most active) · Notes: mosquitoes are common, get a yellow fever vaccine; choose campsites with good local reputations for safari—professional guides make all the difference 💡 Final honest thought Masai Mara is the kind of place that feels expensive before you go but worth every penny after. The moment the hot air balloon lifts off, the minutes of wildebeest crossing the river, the lion yawning in the sunset—some scenes only Africa can offer.

East Africa’s wilderness never looks the same twice. If Maasai Mara is an endless, vibrant poem of the plains, Tsavo is a red earth secret with its own rugged spirit and a naturally somber atmosphere. This land has a distinctly wild texture. The vast red soil stretches to the horizon, coloring the entire landscape. Scattered solitary trees shed their lush softness, their branches sparse and sturdy. In the wind across the plains, they create a cool, austere wild scene that is uniquely Tsavo’s deep and expansive character. From Voi Safari Lodge, the view is unobstructed. Rolling distant mountains rest between the red earth and clouds, their layers hazy, the land’s texture rising and falling. Unlike Maasai Mara’s flat, open plains, Tsavo’s terrain is varied and unpredictable, with every inch hiding untamed charm. The most striking feature is the red earth wildlife unique to this secret land: elephants roaming here are covered in red dust, shedding their usual appearance and carrying a powerful, primal presence. Herds of zebras are also stained by the red soil, their stripes tinged with warm red. The sky, grass, and creatures blend into one, as if the entire wilderness has been soaked in flames, creating a one-of-a-kind red wilderness spectacle. Along the way, Tsavo’s distinctive mountain camps offer excellent viewpoints. The waterholes are always lively, with large elephant herds gathering to drink and rest, their movements relaxed yet steady. Agile monkeys chase and play in the forest, adding lively energy to the cool mountain wilds. Various water birds perch along the shore, fluttering gracefully, including the elegant national bird of Zambia. The waterside and forest scenes form a gentle, ever-living natural painting. The camp’s meals are warm and comforting, with simple, flavorful dishes that perfectly match the relaxed mountain atmosphere. Compared to other national parks in Kenya, Tsavo offers a lighter, more convenient way to arrive. Take the high-speed train from Nairobi directly to Voi town, then hire a local vehicle to explore the wilderness. This saves time and is more cost-effective, avoiding the fatigue of long, bumpy journeys. Here, safari is not just about rushing through the wild but also about lazy, relaxed mountain leisure. You don’t need to buy tickets to venture deep into the park. Just pick a nearby mountain camp, sit quietly with afternoon tea, and enjoy Tsavo’s wilderness scenery, letting the red earth breeze soothe your mind. It may not be the first choice for long cross-border trips, but it perfectly suits travelers who have lived in Kenya for a while and want to escape the noise and clear their minds. This red wilderness holds East Africa’s most unique blend of ruggedness and gentleness. It’s unassuming and quiet, patiently waiting for everyone who wants to retreat to the wild and find peace.

I stayed at this Novotel during my Kenya Safari layover, and the experience was fantastic – perfect for a relaxing trip. The hotel boasts a modern, minimalist style with trendy and clean decor. The public areas are quiet and elegant, creating a clean and comfortable environment without any sense of age or confinement. Its location is excellent, about a 30-minute drive from the airport. Whether arriving or catching your flight, you won't be rushed, making layovers incredibly convenient. The hotel is also incredibly conveniently located next to a shopping mall, with a Carrefour supermarket just a short walk away. Snacks, drinking water, and daily necessities are readily available, making travel supplies super easy. The room details are a big plus. The shower water is soft, alkaline, with a smooth and delicate feel – perfect for relieving fatigue and dryness after a long day of sightseeing. The buffet breakfast is plentiful and diverse, offering a wide selection of Western light meals, local specialties, fresh fruits, and drinks – a great way to start your adventures. The rooftop features an outdoor swimming pool, offering panoramic views of Nairobi while you relax in the water. The evening breeze and the view create a wonderful atmosphere, making it suitable for both business trips and leisure travel.

After our safari, we returned to Nairobi from Samburu. The bumpy roads gradually gave way to wide expressways, which our driver, Rose, proudly mentioned were built with Chinese assistance. We bought some things at Carrefour, and that evening we checked into the Novotel Nairobi Westlands. The transition from wilderness to city was a refreshing experience, showcasing the brilliance of modern civilization. ❤️Hotel Security 24-hour security, strict checks, multiple checkpoints at the entrance, and even sniffer dogs checking luggage. ✈️Airport Transfer Service Booked at the Front Desk Our flight was at noon the next day, and we had the concierge book an airport transfer a day in advance. The price was transparent: $75 for four people and seven suitcases, credit card payment was accepted, and the driver was waiting for us in the lobby on time – very convenient. 💎Modern and Brand New Room Opened in 2024, there was no unpleasant odor. The bedding was so comfortable I fell asleep instantly. The shower water was softened, leaving my skin smooth and refreshed – a perfect way to wash away the fatigue of the safari. 🍕A wide variety of breakfast options are available, including freshly made omelets, Kenyan fruits, and hot dishes. Coffee can also be taken away. 🛍️Convenient shopping nearby. The Sarit Centre and Westgate Mall have supermarkets, cafes, and souvenir shops. I bought Kenyan tea, coffee beans, and affordable handicrafts – much better shopping than in the service area. 🏙️Overlooking the Nairobi cityscape. There's a rooftop pool and the Trunk & Tandoor rooftop bar, offering stunning views of the Nairobi skyline – a truly memorable farewell.

Deep within Samburu National Park, we stayed in a place closest to the animals. As soon as the car arrived at the gate, a large herd of reticulated giraffes leisurely crossed in front of us. We frantically turned on our equipment, screaming and snapping photos. Staff dressed in traditional Maasai attire greeted us with songs and dances, their colorful beads shimmering in the sunlight. The safari was right outside our door. We set off before dawn each day. The camp host packed our breakfast, and we drank coffee at a table and chairs set up in the open field. Our guide constantly scanned the surroundings to prevent any animals from approaching. Eating at the camp was like opening a blind box—facing the Ivasollo River, sometimes we saw a family of elephants crossing the river in a procession, sometimes we saw crocodiles bobbing their backs in the water. The hornbills from *The Lion King* were incredibly bold; one of them would suddenly swoop down and snatch a piece of bread. At dinner, the Maasai people sang and danced around the campfire, leaping into the air to imitate bird calls—primitive and infectious. At night, the wind howled, and we could hear the roars of wild animals and the bellows of elephants. I think I'll always cherish those evenings sitting outside my tent, feeling the breeze and being enveloped by the magic of nature. ✨Practical Information ▫️Camp Name: Soroi Larsens Camp ▫️All tents face the river. Breakfast and dinner are included in the room rate. National park entrance fees are separate. ▫️Transportation: Approximately 5-6 hours drive from Nairobi. ▫️Safety: No need to leave the tent at night; a steward will accompany you throughout the trip. ▫️Recommendation: Going on a safari before breakfast is the most comfortable, as it's cooler and there are more animals. If you get hot, return to the camp to lie down and catch up on sleep.

For first-timers on an African safari, 90% get stuck on the accommodation choice! Terms like Lodge, Camp, and mobile tents can be confusing😵. You might think: tents are uncomfortable, hotels are more comfortable, but on the African savannah, that hotel logic doesn’t apply at all! Choosing the wrong camp means missing out on most of the wildlife scenery; choose right, and you can watch elephants stroll by right from your bed. With years of experience in African travel, here’s a comprehensive guide! How ordinary travelers can choose accommodation without pitfalls, without following trends, and matching their own travel pace✅ Three Common Types of African Accommodation (Easy for Beginners) ▪️Hotel | City Transit Hotels Best for your first day on arrival or for quick transit stays! Located mainly in cities like Nairobi and Arusha, these hotels are neat and well-equipped but lack the savannah atmosphere. They are far from national parks and mainly serve for rest and jet lag recovery. Examples: Nairobi Argyle, Arusha Mount Meru. ▪️Lodge | Comfort Choice · Savannah Cottages The type that best suits Chinese travelers’ habits! Perfect for elders, children, or those who dislike rough conditions👌. Usually fixed buildings made of stone, solid wood, and glass, no more than two stories, with African-style thatched roofs. Well-equipped with private bathrooms, air conditioning, TV, viewing terraces, gyms, and infinity pools. Good soundproofing and stable living conditions make it the most comfortable among the three types. Mostly located on park edges or open volcanic areas, offering great views and smooth travel, ideal for leisure vacationers. ▪️Camp | The Soul of Safari · Tent Camps African camps vary greatly, representing two extremes! Low-end camps have shared bathrooms and outdated facilities, suitable only for hardcore budget travelers—ordinary people should avoid these; mid-range fixed camps are located deep in the savannah, raised foundations to prevent moisture and insects, balancing atmosphere and comfort; high-end luxury Tented Camps offer a noble vintage experience! Canvas exteriors with luxurious interiors, leather furnishings, dedicated butlers, and exquisite furniture. The key advantage: located in the heart of protected areas, no long drives needed, stepping outside leads directly to wildlife sanctuaries🌿 Exclusive Great Migration | Mobile Camps This deserves a special mention, known to experienced deep travelers! The rarest and top-tier migration accommodation in East Africa✨. No fixed foundations, steel frames preserve the original savannah landscape, hardware is simple (sometimes with vintage barrel showers), but its unbeatable perk: moving with the animal migration all year round! January-March: Stationed in the south to watch births and hunts | May-June: Guarding the lesser-known Grumeti River crossing | July-October: Northern Mara River, the heavenly crossing Only about a dozen in Tanzania, very limited availability, often fully booked with high premiums, even with money, booking is not guaranteed! Top luxury camps’ four big names (for those with ample budget and no hesitation): Singita, One Nature, &Beyond, Bushtops Other cost-effective and well-reviewed camp brands (friendly to the general public): Serena, Sarova, Asilia, Meliá In short, there is no absolutely perfect accommodation. Lodges include affordable, basic options, and camps can have simple, basic facilities; not all lodges are luxurious, nor are all camps ultra-luxury. Each camp varies in location, management, and age, with mixed quality. The one that suits you best is the best choice🫶

Evelyn The standard currency in Nairobi is KES
Current exchange rate approx.: MYR ≈32.0KES (actual exchange rates depend on the bank). Currency exchange tips:
1. Exchange currency at your local bank before departure, as rates are usually better than at the destination.
2. You can also withdraw cash from local ATMs.
3. Avoid exchanging currency at airports or hotels, as they offer the worst rates.
