GGuest User: The service here definitely deserves a full five stars! From the lovely ladies at the front desk to the shuttle drivers, everyone was incredibly helpful. They confirmed our itinerary and transportation in advance, arranged parking, checked if our car needed charging (whether it was gas or electric), confirmed our arrival time, provided full pick-up and drop-off service, helped us get seated at popular restaurants, even got us discounts, and were always quick to respond. This is honestly the most attentive service I've ever experienced at a B&B! The room was spacious, clean, and well-equipped, and the courtyard was perfect for taking photos. The guesthouse is very close to the main street but still tucked away and quiet. Overall, I'm very satisfied. The only thing they could improve upon is the breakfast.

GGuest User: Let me elaborate. **Courtyard Design:** Very beautiful, many scenic spots within the ancient city are decorated in a similar style. **Room Amenities:** Given the prime location, the room isn't large, perhaps around 15 square meters. It has all the essentials and is very clean. The mattress was comfortable. Of course, it can't compare to high-end or luxury hotels. Its main advantage is its excellent location; it's very convenient for exploring, and you can easily pop back for a rest when you get tired. **Service:** The staff were very service-oriented. When we arrived, there weren't many guests, and the service was very attentive. **Breakfast:** It's not a buffet; it's a fixed-menu breakfast, like a 'nine-grid' style. It looks very appealing, and the taste is decent enough to fill you up. Overall, it's a good stay. Naturally, for this price point within the ancient city, you shouldn't compare it to hotels of the same price outside. It's incomparable, primarily due to its superb geographical advantage.

GGuest User: This is a century-old house located in the ancient city. The designer renovated it while preserving its original features and adding modern elements. The room is spacious and comfortable, and kept very clean. The amenities provided are of good quality, not cheap. It's a quiet retreat away from the hustle and bustle of the ancient city, yet just a short walk to the main street, making it very convenient.

GGuest User: This distinctive Jin merchant courtyard was a special experience we wanted for our child. Our room, with its small attic, surprisingly had three 1.8-meter beds including the downstairs one, which is perfect for family travel. The owners are really lovely; they helped us with our luggage at the entrance and gave us directions to avoid any pitfalls. They even gave us two bottles of vinegar when we left – absolutely fantastic! 👍

MMladen A.: The look and feel of this place are great, one can really think that is in a old Chinese movie. Rooms are fairly large with comfortable beds. Cleanliness is average, but everything that's advertised is available as far as amenities go. Location is great, no breakfast available. Staff speaks a little bit of English and are trying to help as much as they can. If you are a fan of the authentic Chinese housing then this is a place for you, bit if you expect European level of service and tidiness probably should avoid.

AAnonymous User: Staying at this hotel inside the ancient city of Pingyao was one of the absolute highlights of our trip. From the very beginning, the hospitality was flawless. The staff were exceptionally kind and helpful—they even met us right at the entrance of the adjacent hutong to guide us to the property and help with our luggage, making our arrival completely hassle-free. The hotel itself is breathtaking, built around beautifully preserved, traditional Chinese courtyards with meticulous attention to detail. The atmosphere is authentic, peaceful, and full of charm. Despite being in such a central location, it was extremely quiet, allowing for a deeply restful night's sleep in a comfortable bed and clean room. The on-site restaurant is another major plus: the food is generous and delicious, and hotel guests receive a very welcome discount. Highly recommended for anyone looking for authenticity, comfort, and top-tier hospitality. We would definitely stay here again!

GGuest User: The host was incredibly enthusiastic and explained every ancient city detail meticulously. It was especially thoughtful that they pre-cooled the millet porridge for breakfast, which was not only ample but also nutritious. The hotel is very close to the bustling South Street, making it super convenient for aurora viewing. For every aspect, this is the top choice. Highly recommended!

GGuest User: The hotel is located in a bustling part of the ancient city, yet the rooms are surprisingly quiet. It boasts two large courtyards, front and back, both beautifully landscaped. The courtyards are perfect for photoshohoots; I took some great pictures of my friend there. We stayed in the back courtyard with my friend this trip, and our room even had its own private small courtyard, ideal for friends or family to enjoy tea and conversation. While the breakfast options were a bit limited, the millet porridge was absolutely delicious and filling.

What stood out, especially upon departure, was how genuinely enthusiastic they were in seeing us off, even gifting us a bottle of aged vinegar as a thoughtful souvenir. Truly exceptional!

If you know, you know! Shanxi is more than just ancient cities! Luya Mountain is a hidden wilderness gem😭 When people think of Shanxi, the first things that come to mind are the Ancient City of Pingyao and the Shanxi Merchant Courtyards! I was completely blown away by my visit to Luya Mountain. Who knew Shanxi hid such stunning natural scenery✨ It's uncrowded, not overly commercialized, and affordable. You get it all in one trip: alpine meadows, a million-year-old ice cave, hanging villages on cliffs, and cloud-covered forests. I really struck gold! 📍Location: Luya Mountain, Ningwu, Xinzhou, Shanxi 🌿Malun Grassland | North China Alpine Meadow At an altitude of over 2,000 meters, the sub-alpine meadow opens up before your eyes! Green grass spreads across the mountains, cattle and sheep graze leisurely, and the strange peaks of Luya Mountain stand in the distance. It's very easy to encounter a sea of clouds on mornings after rain, with mist rolling through the valleys. Standing on the meadow, the wind carries the scent of grass and trees—it's like a mini Altay for photos🌈 No need to fight crowds; just find a patch of grass, sit back, and zone out. It's incredibly healing. ❄️Million-Year Ice Cave | A 3-million-year-old ice and snow wonder It completely defies imagination! It's sunny and hot outside, but the cave stays at a constant -4°C. Inside, you're surrounded by ice pillars and ice waterfalls. When the colorful lights hit them, they look crystal clear, like stepping into a palace from Frozen. It's very cold inside, so you can rent a padded jacket on-site. You must experience this magical contrast of "midsummer outside, deep winter inside" for yourself. 🏡Hanging Ancient Village (Wanghuagou) | A village on a cliff Truly breathtaking! The village is built on a 2,300-meter cliff. The back half of the wooden houses leans against the mountain, while the front half is supported by sturdy wooden pillars, with wooden walkways extending along the cliff edge. A few original residents still live in the village; there are no crowds of influencer shops, just quiet, original ecology. At sunset, the light hits the wooden houses, creating an incredible atmosphere. Walking on the boardwalk, you look down into a bottomless valley. ⛰️Luya Mountain Main Peak & Primitive Forest The path takes you through dense, primitive forests, lush with green. If you're lucky enough to encounter heavy fog, the whole mountain is wrapped in mist, with clouds flowing through the trees, as if you've stepped into a fantasy realm. If you're not feeling up to the climb, just hiking through the forest is comfortable enough. 🍜Local Food & Accommodation Eat and stay in Dongzhai Town for great value! I recommend youmian kaolaolao (oat noodles), potato stewed with lamb, and stir-fried mountain mushrooms with meat—all made with local ingredients, with generous portions at affordable prices. There are many homestay options in town, where you can get a clean room for around 100 yuan, so there's no need to squeeze into expensive scenic area hotels. ⚠️Travel Tips 1. The attractions are far apart, so I highly recommend driving yourself or hiring a car. There are no shuttle buses to the Ice Cave or Hanging Village on the north line! 2. The temperature difference between day and night in the mountains is huge! Even in summer, it's very cool on the mountain, so be sure to bring a windbreaker. 3. The mountain roads have many curves, so drive slowly and watch out for falling rocks. Wear non-slip sneakers, as there are quite a few steps to hike. 4. You can buy tickets separately; no need to buy the full set at once. Choose what you need, and the overall ticket prices aren't expensive. 5. The UV rays are strong on the mountain, so bring sunscreen and mosquito repellent. There aren't many convenience stores in the mountains, so bring your own water and snacks. I really love this kind of scenery that isn't over-packaged. No noisy influencer shops, just the wilderness, ice caves, and ancient cliff villages—all quiet and peaceful. If you want to escape the city and see original, natural scenery, Luya Mountain is the place.

November in Pingyao is a total winner! After the start of winter, the ancient city is around 12°C during the day and drops to -1°C in the morning and evening. The air is incredibly crisp. Sunlight hitting the blue bricks and gray tiles makes the outlines much clearer than in summer. Red lanterns on South Street light up around 5:00 PM. After a cold snap, the tiles might even have a thin layer of frost, creating an incredible atmosphere! First, the bottom line: If you want to see empty streets in the morning and walk under night lights, stay inside the city. If you're a light sleeper, have large luggage, or are driving, stay outside the city. The price difference is CNY 80–180 per night; wouldn't it be better to save that money for a good meal? —— 🌟 Quick guide Suitable for: Ancient architecture lovers / photography enthusiasts / weekend slow travelers Recommended duration: 3 days, 2 nights | Physical intensity: Moderate. About 7 km of walking on stone roads per day Average cost: CNY 900–1,400 (excluding round-trip transportation) 🗺️ 3-day itinerary breakdown Day 1: City wall and streets Morning: Yingxun Gate → Pingyao Ancient City Wall (all-inclusive ticket CNY 121, opens at 8:00 AM) Afternoon: County Government Office → Confucian Temple → City God Temple Evening: South Street → City Tower night view (district is free, City Tower is open all day) 📸 Yingxun Gate has fewer people and amazing light before 8:00 AM; the lantern layers at the City Tower after 5:00 PM are legendary Day 2: Draft banks and courtyards Morning: Rishengchang Draft Bank → Weitaihou Afternoon: Xie Tong Qing → Ma Family Compound Evening: Watch "See Pingyao" (approx. CNY 238, arrive 40 minutes early) Day 3: Ancient architecture outside the city Morning: Shuanglin Temple (CNY 35, opens at 8:00 AM) to see the pinnacle of colored sculpture art Afternoon: Zhenguo Temple (CNY 25) → Return to the city for a bowl of hot beef noodles Evening: Depart from Pingyao Ancient City Station 🍜 Hidden gem food (locally approved) 1. Tianyuankui Restaurant (Main Store) 📍 73 South Street (near the city center, 100 meters south of the City Tower) Long eggplant with Pingyao beef, CNY 65 per person. The old courtyard atmosphere is amazing, great for photos. Beef copper hot pot and yellow rice cake are must-orders! The vinegar eggs are sweet, sour, and appetizing—enough to eat two bowls of rice. 2. Hongwuji Restaurant 📍 Yamen Street The yellow rice cake is incredibly soft and chewy! Kaolaolao with dipping sauce is a perfect match, CNY 55 per person, portion size is good for sharing between two. 3. Dongji Fried Wantuo · Yuchengyuan Store 📍 41 Yamen Street Fried wantuo with pork intestine is a divine combination, CNY 22 per person. Freshly stir-fried with great "wok hei," shorter lines in the afternoon. Beef and ham fried wantuo, bubble oil cake, and egg fermented rice soup are all local favorites. ⚠️ Pitfall avoidance guide (hard-learned lessons) ❌ Thinking the ancient city being open all day means attractions are open all day; most all-inclusive ticket attractions stop checking tickets before 5:30 PM in winter ❌ Dragging a 28-inch suitcase on stone roads will shake your wheels to pieces; book a shuttle with your inn in advance ❌ Staying in a room facing South Street means shop music lasts until late; light sleepers should choose a courtyard in a side alley ❌ If driving, never drive into the ancient city; official parking lots outside are CNY 10–30/day ❌ I was the unlucky one who climbed the city wall in the afternoon; winter sunsets are early + some exits guide you down early, so I recommend going up before 3:30 PM ❌ Buying show tickets last minute? Watch out for Monday closures! Always check dates and showtimes before you leave 💰 Cost breakdown (per person) Tickets CNY 181 (Ancient City all-inclusive 121 + Shuanglin Temple 35 + Zhenguo Temple 25) | Local transport CNY 60–120 | Accommodation CNY 180–380/night | Dining CNY 35–80/meal | Show approx. CNY 238 (optional) | 3-day total CNY 900–1,400 💡 Practical tips 🚄 Pingyao Ancient City Station to Yingxun Gate is about 8 km, about 20 mins by taxi 🏨 Courtyards inside the city are CNY 220–420/night, hotels outside the city are CNY 140–300/night 👗 Daytime 12°C, morning/evening -1°C; pack a thin down jacket + warm socks + non-slip flat shoes 🎫 Buy the ancient city all-inclusive ticket with real-name registration; confirm show tickets 1–2 days in advance November is just in time for the off-peak season; West Street and Ma Family Lane before 8:00 AM on weekdays are quiet enough to hear your own footsteps. Walking in ancient temples with someone you love, looking at Buddha statues, eating hot Jinzhong cuisine, and watching the lights flicker in the courtyard at night—it's so healing. Would you choose to stay inside the city for empty morning streets, or outside the city for quiet and convenient parking? Let's chat in the comments.

Pingyao in October is absolutely amazing! The sky is high and the air is crisp, the grass on the city walls has turned yellow, and the red lanterns against the gray bricks are incredibly photogenic💥 It's 20°C during the day and 5°C in the morning and evening. You won't feel tired walking around all day, there are far fewer people than in the summer, and it's super easy to book tickets for the magistrate's office performance and "Encounter Pingyao"! 📍 First, the verdict: If you don't have a car, staying inside the city walls offers a better atmosphere. If you're driving, stay near the parking lots outside the city. This choice really impacts your experience! · — 🏮 3-day itinerary breakdown Day 1: Ancient city highlights Ancient City Wall (all-inclusive ticket CNY 125, recommended to enter from the South Gate in the morning) → County Government Office (magistrate's office performance at 9:30 AM) → Rishengchang Draft Bank → Night stroll on Ming-Qing Street → Watch "Encounter Pingyao" (CNY 238, booking required in advance) Day 2: In-depth exploration Confucian Temple → City God Temple → Qingxu Taoist Temple → Xie Tong Qing (the underground vault is truly stunning!) → Sunset on the city wall in the evening🌅 The West Gate section is breathtakingly beautiful Day 3: Two temples outside the city Zhenguo Temple (Five Dynasties wooden structure of the Hall of Ten Thousand Buddhas) → Shuanglin Temple (famous for the Ming Dynasty colored sculpture of Skanda) · — 🍜 Hidden gem food (where locals go) 1. "Changshengyuan" Pingyao Beef on West Street: CNY 45 per person. Locals buy the loose sliced version; gift boxes are tourist-priced 2. "Tianyuan Kui Restaurant" at 73 South Street: CNY 35 per person. The beef kaolaolao + balsamic vinegar eggs are amazing! Dipping them in lamb sauce is the authentic way to eat them🥢 3. "Lao Zhao Jia Shanxi Copper Hot Pot" at 112 South Street: CNY 12 for a Pingyao beef sandwich! A driver took me there; it's much cheaper than inside the ancient city, and the beef copper hot pot is also fantastic🔥 —— ⚠️ Pitfalls I encountered 1. The CNY 125 all-inclusive ticket covers 22 attractions but is only valid for two days, so don't pack your schedule too tight! 2. Parking at inns inside the ancient city is extremely difficult; I circled for 40 minutes... If you have a car, I recommend staying outside the city 3. "Encounter Pingyao" is a walk-through theater performance. You'll be standing and walking for 90 minutes, so wear comfortable shoes! 4. "Free tour guides" on Ming-Qing Street will take you to specific shops to get a commission. Official guides are at the visitor center 5. You need to take a taxi or charter a car to Shuanglin Temple and Zhenguo Temple (about CNY 80 round trip) 6. For dining inside the ancient city, walk a couple of alleys deep; the same noodles are half the price! · — 💰 Cost breakdown (per person) All-inclusive ticket CNY 125 + "Encounter Pingyao" CNY 238 = CNY 363 | Inn CNY 200–500/night | Dining CNY 35–80/meal | 3-day total CNY 1,000–1,600 · — 💡 Practical tips 🚄 Transportation: A taxi from Pingyao Ancient City Station to the ancient city costs about CNY 15; the high-speed train from Taiyuan to Pingyao takes about 40 minutes 🏨 Accommodation: If you don't have a car, staying near Ming-Qing Street has the best atmosphere. The ultimate 5–6 day road trip guide from Chongqing to Taiyuan Perfect for families and friends traveling together, this itinerary balances must-see attractions with a comfortable driving pace. Enjoy a relaxed trip without rushing, crossing the Qinling Mountains and the Yellow River while visiting iconic landscapes and historical sites in Shanxi and Shaanxi before arriving in Taiyuan. Estimated cost: 2,800–3,800 CNY per person, covering shared fuel and toll costs, accommodation, admission tickets, and meals. Vehicle maintenance and personal shopping expenses are not included. The 5-day version is compact, while the 6-day version offers a more relaxed pace. Day 1: Chongqing to Xi'an – Cross the Qinling Mountains and get your first glimpse of the Guanzhong region Depart from Chongqing in the early morning and head north along the Baomao Expressway. Cross the Qinling tunnel complex and enjoy the layered mountain scenery along the way. The mountain area has many tunnels, so be sure to control your speed. Rotate drivers to avoid fatigue. The total distance is about 680 km, with a driving time of around 8 hours. Grab a quick lunch at a service area. Arrive in Xi'an in the evening and check into a chain hotel in the city. Today is not about deep sightseeing; save your energy for the road. In the evening, you can take a quick stroll around the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda and try local snacks like roujiamo (meat burger) and liangpi (cold noodles). Get some rest early to recharge for the next day. Day 2: Xi'an to Hukou Waterfall – Cross the Yellow River into Shanxi and experience its grandeur After breakfast, take the Jingkun Expressway to Hukou Waterfall, a journey of over 310 km taking about 4 hours. Upon arrival, visit Hukou Waterfall to see the magnificent, roaring Yellow River up close. The mist is thick, and if you're lucky, you might see a rainbow. The view from the Shanxi side is better. Spend 3–4 hours exploring, then drive to Linfen to check in. For dinner, try local southern Shanxi specialties like beef meatball noodles and soak in the atmosphere of the Loess Plateau. Day 3: Linfen to Wang Family Compound to Pingyao Ancient City – A deep dive into Shanxi merchant culture Depart in the morning for the Wang Family Compound. This "folk Forbidden City" perfectly showcases the carving art of Shanxi merchant architecture. Take your time to admire the brick carvings on the gate towers and the courtyard layout, and get a feel for the prosperity of the old Shanxi merchant families. In the afternoon, head to Pingyao Ancient City. Park your car in a lot outside the city and walk in. Wander through the ancient streets and alleys, visit the Pingyao County Government Office and the Rishengchang Draft Bank. In the evening, climb the ancient city wall to watch the sunset; the grey bricks and tiles against the setting sun create a wonderful atmosphere. Stay in a guesthouse inside the ancient city for the night, where the red lanterns create a perfect nighttime vibe. For food, try Pingyao beef, wantuo (buckwheat jelly), and youmian kaolaolao (oat noodles). Day 4: Pingyao – A slow tour of the ancient city (the 6-day version allows for an extra half-day) 5-day version: Continue exploring Pingyao in the morning, visit Shuanglin Temple to admire the stunning Ming Dynasty colored sculptures, then depart for Taiyuan. 6-day version: Spend the whole day in Pingyao, strolling slowly through the streets, experiencing the local life, and deeply immersing yourself in the history of Shanxi merchants. Stay in Pingyao. For meals, choose local family-style restaurants for fresh and safe ingredients, and avoid overpriced souvenirs in tourist areas. Day 5: Pingyao to Taiyuan – Arrive at your destination and unlock the highlights of Taiyuan Drive from Pingyao to Taiyuan, a trip of about 1.5 hours. After arriving, check into your hotel and rest. In the afternoon, visit the Shanxi Museum to understand the thousand-year history of Shanxi. Be sure to book online in advance; it is closed on Mondays. In the evening, stroll through Zhonglou Street and the Liuxiang old city district to experience the local life of Taiyuan. For dinner, try Taiyuan specialties like guoyourou (stir-fried pork), tijian noodles, and yangzaguo (lamb offal soup). In the evening, take a walk in Fenhe Park to enjoy the sunset and night views by the river. Day 6 (Optional, 6-day relaxed version): In-depth tour around Taiyuan Spend the whole day visiting Jinci Temple to see the Song Dynasty ancient architecture, Zhou cypresses, and Nanlao Spring, and experience the beauty of ancient gardens. If you have time, you can also visit the Taiyuan Ancient County City. The trip ends after you've fully explored these sites. Travel tips 1. The route is mainly on expressways. The Qinling section has many tunnels with frequent speed limit changes. Perform a full vehicle check before departure, focusing on tires, brakes, and coolant. Prepare drinking water and snacks, as some service areas are far apart. 2. Some venues, such as Hukou Waterfall, Wang Family Compound, Shuanglin Temple, and the Shanxi Museum, require online booking. Check opening hours before you go and avoid closed days. 3. There is a large temperature difference between day and night in the mountains. Even if traveling in summer or autumn, bring a light jacket. Avoid driving while tired throughout the trip and try not to drive at night. 4. Shanxi has a rich variety of noodle dishes. Prioritize local family-style restaurants for meals, consume rationally, and do not blindly buy overpriced souvenirs. 5. Students should bring their student IDs, as most scenic spots offer discounted admission tickets, which can further reduce travel costs. Topics

We came to Pingyao as a stop off on the way to Xi’an from Beijing. We didn’t book a guide, just thought we’d explore and that turned out to be perfect for us. We spent one full day exploring the streets, attractions, the wall and the many shops and restaurants. We also caught the evening light show which was a highlight. A great day and well worth the visit.
Kimberly NolanShuanglin Temple truly lives up to its reputation as a "treasure trove of Eastern painted sculpture art." As part of Pingyao's World Cultural Heritage site, its exterior is simple, yet its interior is breathtaking. More than two thousand Ming Dynasty painted sculptures display a variety of expressions: Weituo exudes heroic spirit, while the Water-Moon Guanyin is gentle and graceful. The suspended sculptures in the Thousand Buddha Hall and Bodhisattva Hall are layered and lifelike. The ancient temple is quiet and uncrowded, free from excessive commercialization, allowing one to calmly appreciate the ingenuity of ancient artisans. On the clay figures, every expression conveys emotion, and every garment seems to move with the wind. Every brick and every sculpture holds a thousand years of history. A visit to Pingyao is incomplete without seeing this place and experiencing the unique, expressive beauty of Chinese sculpture.
超酷的小王同学。"Encounter Pingyao," a pioneering work of immersive performance in China, has always received highly polarized reviews. Its most distinctive feature is its "walking experience"—there are no seats; you walk through different scenes for 90 minutes following the plot. * **Extremely Immersive (Like Being There):** This is not just a performance, but more like a journey through time. You walk on the realistically constructed streets of Pingyao Ancient City, with bodyguards brushing past you, and flour and water spray realistically splashing on you. This "being in the play" experience is unparalleled by traditional theaters. * **Visual Impact (Sound, Light, and Electricity):** Especially the "Soul Returns Home" segment, which uses projection and sound, light, and electricity technology to make the deceased bodyguards "possess" themselves on the walls, creating a visually stunning effect that often moves audiences to tears. * **Unique Cultural Value:** It tells the story of Zhao Yishuo, the owner of a Pingyao bank in the late Qing Dynasty, who, to preserve the Wang family bloodline, squandered his fortune and ultimately died far from home, profoundly showcasing the "righteousness" of Shanxi merchants.
傻乎乎的飞侠Zhenguo Temple is a hidden gem of an ancient temple in Pingyao, not widely known but rich in historical significance. The Wanfo Hall is a rare example of a Five Dynasties wooden structure, over a thousand years old. Its imposing and simple bracket sets, constructed without a single nail, have stood the test of time, making it a living fossil of wooden architecture. The painted sculptures inside retain their original Five Dynasties appearance, with a dignified and weighty style, a stark contrast to the lively Ming Dynasty sculptures of Shuanglin Temple. The temple is serene and quiet, with few tourists, perfect for slowly appreciating the beauty of its ancient architecture. If you appreciate ancient architecture, after visiting Shuanglin Temple, a stopover at Zhenguo Temple offers a unique and worthwhile experience, allowing you to understand the architecture and sculptures of different eras.
超酷的小王同学。I like it. Pingyao was a discover for me this year. As a foreigner I immersed in this old city.
Anonymous userThe scenery is antique and full of historical charm. There are many scenic spots inside, and I especially recommend the county government office, the security escort agency, and the money exchange. There is also a light show at night, but it gets very crowded on holidays, and the scenic area is probably overwhelmed. You can have to wait for half an hour to get into the county government office.
jingtao98771Pingyao County Government Office (National Cultural Relic) Located in the center of the ancient city, it was first built in the sixth year of the Zhizheng era of the Yuan Dynasty (1346) and rebuilt in the third year of the Hongwu era of the Ming Dynasty (1370). It is one of the best-preserved and largest feudal county government offices in China, second only to the Neixiang County Government Office in Nanyang. Travel Guide Transportation: Accessible by high-speed rail and bus (buses run every 20 minutes; free for veterans with preferential treatment cards). Ticket Price: 125 RMB for the entire ancient city (free for those over 60 and veterans with preferential treatment cards; no ticket exchange required). Time Spent: 1 hour. Accommodation and Dining: Convenient. If not driving, it is recommended to stay near Pingyao Railway Station, which is close to the ancient city, convenient for transportation, and not far from the other two attractions. Nearby Attractions: Pingyao Ancient City, Shuanglin Temple, Zhenguo Temple.
殷都老虎Visiting ancient temples in Shanxi is the only way to truly understand the beauty of clay sculptures. A glance at a thousand years: the painted sculptures of Shuanglin Temple, with their lowered heads and silent expressions, tell the story of human joys and sorrows; the ten thousand Buddhas of Zhenguo Temple stand silently, yet have witnessed the vicissitudes of time.
M37***45The Pingyao City God Temple faces south and has three courtyards. On the central axis, there are archways, mountain gates, a stage, a sacrificial hall, the City God Hall, and a sleeping palace. There are also the Six Cao Mansion, the Land God Temple, the God of Wealth Temple, the Kitchen God Temple, etc. "All the gods live in one temple and receive incense together." The Pingyao City God Temple is a Taoist building. It is a complex of buildings that integrate the ancient government office buildings with the temple architectural style. It is a physical relic for studying the layout of the ancient city of Pingyao, the development of Taoism, and folk customs!
M45***14"The Story of Shanxi Merchants' Banks" was full of surprises! My expectations weren't high, but it exceeded them. The actors' performances were excellent, and the immersive experience of the real-life courtyard setting was wonderful. My child was completely absorbed and gave it a very positive review. Learning about the history of Shanxi merchants' banks while watching the story was a great parent-child historical experience.
