GGuest User: The price is unbeatable, and the location as well. The Hotel seems to be in the middle of restoration works, and it is quite messy and dirty in the common areas and floors, bur if you need a place to sleep in the centre, that's just perfect. The garage got full, so I had parked outside and asked the receptionist if I could leave the car there, which he confirmed, by taking my licence plate number. Then when I came back after 22.00 the car was gone. Luckily the next receptionist helped me to get a taxi and go to get the car back. The fine was very reasonable. And the next night the garage was full again, but this time I went to the public garage instead.

The staff was very helpful and even after checkout helped me to find an item I had lost. Amenities offered are on a very good level too. They offered me a steamer when I asked for an iron. Location of the hotle is at an nighr life area which is enjoyable as there food and drink options howver is not very close to the city center or the convention center (not too far though).

🏯 A Fortress from the Joseon Dynasty | Hwaseong Fortress (수원화성) 🇰🇷 When it comes to countries with a deep history and long-standing royal dynasties, South Korea is as fascinating as they come. Today, I’m taking everyone to witness the grandeur of Hwaseong Fortress, a massive fortification in the city of Suwon. With walls stretching approximately 5.7 kilometers, it was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. This fortress was built during the reign of King Jeongjo, the 22nd monarch of the Joseon Dynasty, between 1794 and 1796. It served several purposes: national defense, the establishment of a new political center, and, most importantly, as a tribute to the King's late father, Crown Prince Sado. You might wonder, why is this fortress so closely linked to King Jeongjo’s father? The story began in 1762. Crown Prince Sado, the son of King Yeongjo, became embroiled in intense political conflict within the royal court. Historical records also mention his troubling behavior and deteriorating mental state. Ultimately, King Yeongjo ordered Prince Sado to be locked inside a wooden rice chest. He passed away after being confined for several days. This event remains one of the most famous tragedies in the history of the Joseon Dynasty. When Prince Yi San ascended the throne as King Jeongjo in 1776, he sought to restore his father's honor. In 1789, he moved Prince Sado's tomb from Yangju to Mount Hwasan in Suwon, an area considered to have highly auspicious geography and feng shui. King Jeongjo then set out to develop Suwon and build Hwaseong Fortress to serve as a defensive stronghold, a political hub, and a new city that reflected his vision. Jeong Yak-yong, a prominent scholar of the Silhak (Practical Learning) school, played a key role in its design. What’s particularly interesting is that this wasn't just an ordinary city wall. It blended military concepts, science, and architecture from both the East and the West of that era. It is hailed as one of the most outstanding examples of 18th-century military architecture. Later, during the Korean War (1950–1953), parts of the fortress were heavily damaged. Serious restoration efforts began in 1964, using the original construction records as a primary guide to ensure accuracy. Those records, known as the 'Hwaseong Seongyeok Uigwe' (1801), provide meticulous details on the blueprints, construction steps, and project specifics. This documentation has been vital for preserving the fortress to this day. 🗓️ Simple Timeline 1762 — Crown Prince Sado passes away after being confined in a rice chest. 1776 — Prince Yi San becomes King Jeongjo, the 22nd King of Joseon. 1789 — King Jeongjo moves his father’s tomb to Mount Hwasan, Suwon. 1794–1796 — Construction of Hwaseong Fortress. 1801 — Completion of the construction records (Hwaseong Seongyeok Uigwe). 1950–1953 — The fortress is damaged during the Korean War. 1964 onwards — Serious restoration and conservation efforts begin. 1997 — Hwaseong Fortress is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. For anyone looking to visit, getting from Seoul to Suwon is quite easy and usually takes less than an hour via various routes. Unfortunately, on the day I visited, the sun was incredibly intense 🥵☀️, so I couldn't walk the entire length of the wall. However, just seeing the sheer scale of the place in person made the trip completely worth it. ⏰ Opening Hours & Activities 🏯 Hwaseong Fortress Wall · Open 24 hours · Accessible day and night · Free admission 🏯 Hwaseong Haenggung Palace · Open daily 09:00–18:00 · In 2026, there is a Night Opening from May 1 to November 1, only on Fri–Sun and public holidays. · Night hours: 18:00–21:30 (Ticket booth closes/last entry at 21:00) 🎈 Flying Suwon (Tethered Balloon) · Weekdays: 13:00–21:30 · Sat–Sun & Holidays: 11:00–21:30 · Last round: 21:30 · Operation depends on weather and wind speed; it's best to check the flight status on the day of your visit. 🏹 Traditional Korean Archery (Gukgung) · March–October: 09:30–17:30 · November–February: 09:30–17:00 · Lunch break: 12:00–13:00 · Sessions start every 30 minutes · Location: Yeonmudae 📍 Hwaseong Fortress (수원화성) Suwon, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea 🇰🇷

📚 When it comes to countries that prioritize reading and lifelong learning, South Korea is always at the top of my list. 🇰🇷 Korea is famous for more than just K-POP and K-dramas; they also excel at creating incredibly engaging spaces for reading. One prime example is the iconic "Byeolmadang Library" (Starfield Library), and it turns out there’s more than one location to explore! Today, I’m taking you to Starfield Library Suwon (별마당 도서관) in Suwon City. 📖✨ Nestled inside the Starfield Suwon mall in Gyeonggi Province, it’s only about an hour from Seoul and very easy to reach. What makes this place so special isn't just the books. Starfield envisioned the Byeolmadang Library as a cultural hub for relaxation, gathering, and connecting through literature. Best of all, it's completely free for everyone to enjoy. It’s not just a library for studious readers; it’s become a major social hub and a must-visit "check-in" spot for anyone visiting Starfield Suwon. I spent some time wandering around and snapping photos, and I have to say, the atmosphere is breathtaking. The towering bookshelves and modern interior design are absolutely stunning. If you love photography or just enjoy the peaceful vibe of a library, you’ll fall in love with this place. 📚 A quick tip if you're planning to take photos like I did: please keep your voice down and be mindful of those reading or relaxing. While it's a popular landmark and a gorgeous photo spot, it remains a dedicated space for quiet enjoyment. Whether you’re a total bookworm or just looking for a beautiful spot to visit in Suwon, I highly recommend adding this to your itinerary. 🇰🇷📚 📍 Starfield Library Suwon (별마당 도서관) Starfield Suwon, 4th Floor 175 Suseong-ro, Jangan-gu, Suwon-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea 🇰🇷 ⏰ Open Daily: 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM 🎟️ Admission: Free If this looks like your kind of place, make sure to save this post and share it with your travel buddy!

Who is still sticking to Seoul for fall foliage?! Suwon in Gyeonggi-do is truly underrated. It's just a 30-minute subway ride away, making it perfect for a day trip. You get the best of both worlds: red maples in an ancient city and a dreamy library. 🍁 Suwon Hwaseong | Autumn vibes at a World Heritage site The 5.7 km stone wall stretches along the mountain, with maples and ginkgo trees painting the scenery in autumn colors. Walking on the golden fallen leaves is so healing. Hike the wall and stand on the battlements to take in the view of the old city roofs and the mountain's autumn colors. Hwaseong Haenggung Palace is full of antique charm, with autumn light falling on the eaves—perfect for taking Korean-style aesthetic photos. Keep an eye out for the media art light show in October. 🏙️ Starfield Suwon | Starfield Library After exploring the ancient city, switch to a modern vibe. The Starfield Library on floors 4–7 of the mall is even grander than the one at COEX in Seoul. With a 30m high giant bookshelf, a floating planet installation, and soft autumn light streaming through the skylight, it's incredibly photogenic. Admission is free, and you can grab a meal or do some shopping when you're tired. 🙊 A little secret: the Suwon subway platforms are also great for photos—they have such a great atmosphere. 🚶 Strolling around downtown Suwon Check out Paldalmun Chicken Street and local traditional markets, try Suwon's specialty ribs, and experience the local daily life. ✅ Tips The golden light at 4 PM in autumn is best for photos. Wear comfortable shoes, as hiking the wall involves a lot of steps. Suwon buses can have long wait times, so it's best to check the schedule before you go.

Seoul boasts a different flower season every single month, and rose season typically peaks from mid to late May, though some varieties keep blooming right into June!~ Last year, I did a gorgeous rose🌹 photoshoot at Suwon Hwaseong Fortress in Suwon, Gyeonggi-do! If you're planning a trip to Suwon Hwaseong🔽 🚉 Getting there: It's super easy to get there from Seoul. Just take Subway Line 1 to Suwon Station, then hop on a local bus (like No. 11 or 13) for about a 10-minute ride. Alternatively, you can catch a direct train (Mugunghwa or KTX) from Seoul Station, which takes around 30 to 40 minutes. Of course, that's not the only spot to catch these stunning roses🌹! Fellow travelers, you'll definitely want to check out these locations too🔽 ✨ Jungnang Seoul Rose Park (Jungnangcheon Stream): This is one of Seoul's most iconic flower-viewing spots, featuring Korea's longest "Rose Tunnel" (stretching about 5.15 km). It's home to over 300,000 bushes and tens of millions of roses. They also host the spectacular "Seoul Rose Festival" here every mid-May. 🚉 Getting there: Subway Line 7 to Taereung Station (Exit 8) or Line 6 to Hwarangdae Station. ✨ Seoul Grand Park (Rose Garden): Located in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi-do (just outside Seoul), this is a famous destination for flower lovers in Korea. The sprawling park features a dreamy European-style garden layout and boasts tens of thousands of roses with hundreds of different varieties from all over the world. 🚉 Getting there: Subway Line 4 to Seoul Grand Park Station (Exit 2), then walk or catch the park's Elephant Train. ✨ Olympic Park: Known for its expansive lawns and artistic sculptures, the park's Rose Plaza is planted with around 165 varieties and tens of thousands of roses. The vibe is super chill and absolutely perfect for snapping photos. 🚉 Getting there: Subway Line 5 or 9 to Olympic Park Station.

10.04.26 Paletscent Cafe, Suwon When you visit Suwon, this is a must-visit spot. You get to sit and enjoy the view of Janganmun Gate (장안문), the main and largest northern gate of the Hwaseong Fortress. If you're in the area, you should definitely check it out. The drinks are pretty good! But my absolute favorite thing is the vibe here. Just sitting and chilling while overlooking the old city walls. It subtly feels like you've time-traveled back to the Joseon era 🏯✨ The evening light makes it even better—the way the golden hour light hits the walls is just stunning. If you manage to snag a window seat, you honestly won't want to leave. This is definitely a spot you can't miss if you love cafe hopping and photography 📸 ⏰ : 11:30 AM - 9:00 PM

Truly amazed by Seoul's ginkgo trees, the whole city is like a golden armor. Especially the ginkgo trees at Sungkyunkwan Myeongnyundang, they are absolutely stunning, Several trees are over 500 years old, with trunks so wide that many people are needed to encircle them, 📷 November 15, 2025, the ginkgo trees shine golden, The ground beneath is covered with thick layers of fallen ginkgo leaves, and when the wind blows, it’s a shower of ginkgo leaves, So romantic, perfect for taking amazing photos. - 📍 Sungkyunkwan Myeongnyundang Ⓜ️ Subway Line 4, Hyehwa Station Exit 4, 10-minute walk 🎫 Free admission 🈺 Weekdays 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Weekends 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM
Purchased Everland tickets through Trip.com at a fantastic price of less than S$40 per person, compared to the official gate price of KRW 68,000. Such great value! The redemption and park entry process was smooth and hassle-free.We were especially excited to see the famous meme marmots in person — they were every bit as cute as we expected! The park also had adorable capybara plushies dressed in Korean sheep hats (양모리), which were hard to resist. The zoo was surprisingly entertaining, and among all the attractions, our absolute favourite was Snow Buster! We had never experienced this kind of ride at any other amusement park we’ve visited, making it a really unique and memorable highlight of the day.Overall, we had a wonderful time at Everland. Great ticket savings, smooth entry and plenty of fun experiences. Definitely recommend booking through Trip.com!
Jung Somiu definitely need to buy here.. is much.cheaper than walk in ....almost half cheaper and.worth.it...lucky to.look.for.online purchase ticket rather.than buy at counter ...although we don have alot time to.play around plus raining outside, the outdoor themepark is.close .. but is ok ....we manage play.2 games indoor .. watch the parade ... rushing to.skydeck before.closing
Anonymous userWe actually bought on the exact day we visited and no problem encountered. We hope we had more time to rome around coz its really a great destination.
Anonymous userCaribbean Bay is the largest and most famous water park in South Korea. It is located in Yongin, right next to Everland theme park. It features thrilling water slides like Mega Storm, a giant wave pool, and a lazy river to relax in. There are also large indoor pools and warm spa facilities so you can enjoy yourself whether it is too hot or rainy. The park is kept very clean and safe with plenty of lifeguards on duty. However, if you go during the peak summer season (July and August), it gets extremely crowded, and you may have to wait 1 to 2 hours in line for rides. It takes about 1.5 hours to reach from central Seoul, and extra fees apply for locker and life jacket rentals. If you pre-book your tickets online and go early in the morning, you can avoid the crowds and have an incredible time!
MINHAJ SAYWUTHAMBY MAHROOFI think you'll be hard pressed to find a better day out for the money, great value for money, really enjoyed a full day at all parks and you cable car views.
Anonymous userAmazing value! Seoul Land offers the romance of this summer. It has water rides, thrilling attractions, shows, and fireworks on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings. The staff are all very friendly. A few rides have a separate fee, but it's not expensive. Most rides don't require a second payment. The log flume is a must-ride! The flying insect ride is also a must-ride! It's very convenient to get there from downtown Seoul by taxi, which goes directly to the parking lot at the entrance.

悦行悠韵You can’t miss seeing this palace on your trip to Suwon! This is where Joseon Dynasty King Jeonjo lived Hwaseong Palace is a palace where Jeongjo lived temporarily before going to Hyeonlong Garden. At this palace, you can also learn about what each building and room was used for. The palace is also walking distance from restaurants, shops, and the fortress.
Gabrielle SPretty place. Was good sunny weather. Picking up tickets was easy. Fully recommended
Tomasz StaniThe standard currency in Suwon is KRW
Current exchange rate approx.: SAR ≈362.8KRW (actual exchange rates depend on the bank). Currency exchange tips:
1. Exchange currency at your local bank before departure, as rates are usually better than at the destination.
2. You can also withdraw cash from local ATMs.
3. Avoid exchanging currency at airports or hotels, as they offer the worst rates.
