St. Antoni Church, one of the three ancient churches in Macau, was founded in 1565, and after many reconstructions, the original Portuguese weddings were held here, and the church with a sense of history is worth a visit.
The ancient church in Macau is not far from the St. Paul's, a relatively low-key place, the color is not eye-catching, but it is very distinctive, very quiet, sacred, if you have time, you must come here to visit, very beautiful! !
One of the three major churches in Macau, but I just repaired it when I went, I look forward to seeing it next time!
Built between 1558 and 1560, it is one of the three ancient churches in Macau. Most of the early churches in Macau experienced baptism of fire, and St. Antoni is no exception. Today we see the churches of the scale after the 1930s. The Portuguese wedding is held here, and the Chinese call it the "Flower King Hall".
St. Antoni Church, also known as the Flower King Church, is one of the three ancient churches in Macau, founded in 1558, and has been baptized and rebuilt many times over the centuries. The church building did not follow the consistent symmetry, but only adopted a clock tower, the form is simple, reflecting the neoclassical style, earthy-colored architecture, green doors and windows, more showing a simple and solemn feeling. There is a fountain in front of the church. I don't know if it has been a fire because of the many fires in the flower king hall. A fountain is built for unexpected reasons. Diagonally opposite the church is the front of the white dove nest. The reason why the church of St. Antoni is called the Flower King Church is said to have two explanations, one is that the Portuguese people hold weddings here, so the Chinese call it the "Flower King Hall"; the other is that St. Antoni is the Catholic angel who governs marriage in the world, so it is called the "Flower King Hall".
The old church of Andoni is located in the west of the Macau Peninsula. It was built in 1558 and is the same location as the present day's Antoni Church. It is the first small church in Macau, covering an area of 1.1 square kilometers. The history of the church is contained in a stone tablet on the side of the church gate: "Built in 1638, burned in 1809, rebuilt in 1810, burned again in 1874, rebuilt in 1875", and there is a cross engraved in the front of the church in 1636, It was burned down again in 1930 and repaired again, but the exterior wall and clock tower were only completed in 1940. The clock tower was so magnificent that the hall was wide and could accommodate the rest of the population. This church is what we saw when we visited the Macau Museum and planned to take bus 17 to Fisherman's Wharf. The church is still large and well decorated.
