When traveling to Yuncheng, I chose Weiyuan Hotel, and it was a fantastic experience! The hotel is right across from the airport, within walking distance, and offers free shuttle service to/from the airport and high-speed rail station. The room facilities are new, the bedding is soft, and there's a large projector. The bathroom has a separate wet and dry area. The buffet breakfast offers a rich variety, and the front desk staff warmly provided souvenirs. It's convenient for dining and shopping nearby. I'll definitely stay here again next time I visit Yuncheng!

Kempinski Hotel Taiyuan Stay Experience: Luxury Service Where Details Make All the Difference (January 2, 2026) Our trip concluding the 2026 New Year's holiday brought us to the Kempinski Hotel, located in the heart of Taiyuan. What started as a regular accommodation choice turned into a highlight of our journey, thanks to the attentive service and unexpected experiences we received throughout our stay. A day before our arrival, I received a surprising call from the hotel's duty manager. He not only meticulously confirmed basic information like our arrival time and the number of guests but also proactively asked about any special requests or personal preferences, such as a preferred floor, room orientation, or whether we needed a baby crib or extra bedding. When I mentioned my preference for a room with an open view, the manager readily responded that he would do his best to arrange it. This thoughtful, proactive service made me feel warm and welcomed even before checking in. Upon arriving at the hotel, the front desk quickly processed our check-in and informed me that I had been complimentary upgraded to a 50-square-meter Premium Deluxe View Room. This surprise was especially thoughtful. The moment I opened the door, my first impression was ”immaculately clean and bright”—the floor was spotless, the bedding was pristine and wrinkle-free, and the bathroom's sink, bathtub, and shower area were all dry and clean, with no standing water or unpleasant odors in the corners. Even the curtain tracks and table crevices were dust-free, perfectly meeting the hygiene standards of a five-star hotel. The room featured an elegant European-style decor, complemented by soft, warm lighting, creating a very cozy atmosphere. The oversized floor-to-ceiling window offered a panoramic view of Taiyuan's bustling city center, with towering buildings and busy streets spread out before us. Sunlight filled the room during the day, and at night, the neon lights twinkled, providing an absolutely superb visual experience. The room was fully equipped with amenities, including a mini-bar, smart TV, and branded toiletries. The soft, comfortable king-size bed also helped alleviate travel fatigue, ensuring a peaceful night's sleep. The breakfast experience the next morning was equally impressive. Elements Western Restaurant, located on the second floor, opened promptly at 6:30 AM. The dining environment was spacious and bright, and the tableware was neatly arranged. The breakfast selection was rich and diverse, catering to both Western and Chinese tastes. We found classic Western options like coffee, bread, bacon, and fried eggs, as well as local Shanxi specialties such as 'lao doufu' (aged tofu), 'yangza' (lamb offal soup), and handmade noodles. There were also Chinese delights like hot congee, steamed buns, and cold appetizers. The variety of fruits, desserts, and yogurt was also extensive. All the ingredients were fresh and delicious, satisfying different taste preferences. The staff were warm and attentive, proactively guiding us to our seats and promptly replenishing tableware and food, making for a comfortable and pleasant dining experience. Throughout this stay, from the thoughtful pre-arrival communication and the pleasant surprise of a room upgrade to the clean and spacious living environment and the rich and diverse breakfast options, Kempinski Hotel Taiyuan demonstrated its ”home away from home” service philosophy through every detail. Whether for business or leisure travel, this is an excellent choice for accommodation in Taiyuan, and I will definitely choose to stay here again on my next visit.

Awesome! 👍🏻 We arrived late by high-speed train, and the owner drove directly to the station to pick us up. All the restaurants in the ancient city were closed, so the owner lent us his electric tricycle to go eat outside the city. Riding that little vehicle through the ancient city at night was truly a special experience, haha. As for the room, it had everything we needed, and the underfloor heating kept it very warm. The large kang bed was quite unique, and even the mouthwash cups were disposable. Since it was the off-season, the owner even upgraded our room. Although the wallpaper was a bit peeling, it didn't affect our stay at all. Moreover, right outside the inn is the owner's own travel photography studio. I'm so glad I didn't book one of those trendy shops recommended online in advance. The photo shoot here was absolutely fantastic 💖. The makeup artist was very gentle and recommended suitable hairstyles and makeup based on my face shape. I loved the photos, and there was absolutely no pressure during the selection process – completely voluntary. A perfect ancient city experience, I'll definitely recommend it to my friends!

Located inside the Datong old city, the inn itself is a historic building and has a history of its own. There are many interesting decors to look at in the property. The location is excellent and nearby some very good restaurants. It has a laundry room with 2 washers and 1 dryer which are very important in my opinion. The room was very nice, the cleanliness was very good and kept in very good condition. Although there was no rotating menu for the buffet breakfast each morning, the food is good and there's also beef/lamb offal rice noodles on request. The best parts about the hotel are the staff and service. They were extremely welcoming and friendly. I usually get disappointed by restaurant recommendations by hotel staff but all the restaurants recommended were excellent and not overly expensive. They could help you make a reservation (those restaurants get super busy on weekends and holidays) as well if you don't speak Chinese. We had to check out really early on the last day and the staff promptly packed us some eggs and bread for breakfast even though we didn't request it the night prior. I'm sure if you request it the day/night before, they'll be able to pack you something more substantial. I don't normally leave reviews but this property was worth my time.

Overall, it was very good, as expected. I feel it's necessary to write a positive review to encourage the hotel to maintain its current service standards! This trip was specifically planned during the off-season for my elders to relax and for my own personal rest. On the first night, we found the room too stuffy. After reporting it, they immediately upgraded and changed our room (a big thank you to the lovely lady at the front desk; later, on the third day, she also explained the three ways to close a window we had an issue with. I don't know her name, but I was very satisfied with her service these past few days 👍🏻). She was a woman with her hair up, wearing a dark blue suit. Facilities: The washbasins and toilets are Duravit, and having two washbasins is a big plus! The room has a sofa, a walk-in closet, and a matching table and chairs. A suggestion: the lighting color in the walk-in closet isn't very good, it's too yellow. Cleanliness: I specifically checked some areas, and there was no dust. It was clean and tidy. Environment: Superb, exactly as seen in previous reviews. A well-deserved luxury hotel. Service: (Only for off-peak experience) From the front desk to the staff at the buffet breakfast, everyone I interacted with was excellent. The breakfast selection was also quite rich. If you're visiting during the off-peak season, I would recommend this hotel. Finally, this hotel didn't harass me for a positive review. I just remembered that the Huazhu Hotel incident happened right behind this one, so I decided to write this.

Highly recommended! The service at this Datong hotel is top-notch, so heartwarming it almost brought tears to my eyes 😭 My experience at Jixia Mountain Datong Hotel: My wife said, ”From check-in to check-out, I felt like a pampered princess the whole time!” 👏🏻 A big shout-out to the General Manager! His bilingual skills are impressive, effortlessly switching between English and Cantonese. He immediately stepped in to patiently assist a few foreign guests who needed help. This kind of 'attention to detail' service really resonated with me! 🌄 When we were watching the sunrise over the city wall in the morning, the front desk小姐姐 (young lady) quietly filled our thermos with ginger tea. She said, ”The morning wind is strong, have something warm.” This was the first time I encountered turndown service where they actually pulled the duvet up from the bottom. Even at the St. Regis Macau, I always had to struggle to pull the duvet up myself. These unexpected moments of warmth made the entire trip feel incredibly special! 💡 Little tips: The hotel offers a guided tour service for the art gallery daily. The floor-to-ceiling windows in the lobby offer stunning views of the sunset. It's advisable to bring a jacket as there's a significant temperature difference between morning and evening. I've already decided to bring my family back for a second visit! Such a service-oriented team deserves recognition 👀

I booked the Chinese-style suite. Perhaps because it was Chinese New Year and there were a lot of guests, my room wasn't ready even by 4:30 PM. Breakfast was in the building across the street and was very mediocre. The room itself was decent, but the linens were generally quite rough and not conveniently placed. The mattress was too soft for me; it would jiggle a bit even when my child just turned over. I booked this room for the view of the Shanxi Hotel, but unfortunately, we also had a sandstorm. The humidifier by the bed occupied one power outlet, so I couldn't charge my phone and use the humidifier at the same time. The three-prong outlet on the bar was blocked by a stand, making it a struggle to plug in the kettle to boil water. Overall, the room looked great, but the details could definitely use more improvement.

Coming to Taiyuan in spring to see ancient architecture and enjoy the flowers, I still chose to stay at the Hilton. The room was spacious, the facilities were quite new, and the breakfast offered a wide variety of options. The hotel's location is excellent, close to Wuyi Square. I was upgraded to a room with a direct view, and in the evenings, I could enjoy a city walk back from Zhonglou Street, picking up some cheap snacks along the way. There are many restaurants nearby, making dining very convenient. Taxis are also readily available in Taiyuan; it takes about 20 minutes to get to the high-speed train station by taxi.

DDafeieThe room was great, and the underfloor heating kept it very warm. The courtyard (siheyuan) is absolutely beautiful. The underground parking was also very convenient. The service was excellent. I didn't use my car for two days, so leaving wasn't the smoothest. I had to rush to Yungang Grottoes and left before 7 AM, getting a bit delayed at the entrance. The parking fee was 100 RMB (even though there was a free parking voucher, it didn't link successfully), but the owner paid it for me. This is a very responsible establishment, and both the owner and the housekeeper are wonderful. The location is super convenient, and the breakfast is incredibly delicious. Many thanks!

JJiebudiaodejimoThe location is great, nestled between Yingxun Gate (South Gate) and Shangxi Gate, making it convenient for sightseeing yet surprisingly quiet. The facilities are good, but what really impressed me was picture #2 [assuming this refers to a specific feature/amenity shown in a picture]. I hope they can plug in the outlets before guests check in. The buckwheat pillow was very comfortable! The service was excellent; they communicated in advance about pickup/drop-off and even offered to drive me to attractions. Breakfast was abundant, featuring local specialties like Pingyao beef. It was well-balanced and tasty. The menu changed over the two days, though for me, there was a bit too much meat. If a full buffet isn't feasible, perhaps offering an à la carte menu where guests can choose their items would help reduce waste. And the cats at the hotel are adorable!

GGuest UserWe had the best stay at Elswhwere Hotel West Gate. The building is restored it the nicest way really gives you the feeling of timetravel. The people working in the hotel, were carrying and welcoming. They explained us how to navigate the city, helped us buy tickets for the city sights, recommend restaurants and we even got a room upgrade and lovely gifts to take home and remember our time in Pingyao. The bed was so comfortable and we had the best sleep. Can recommend this hotel full heartedly. Would definitely come back! Thank you Helen and Fenny for making our stay so memorable.

GGuest UserThe location is superb, right within the ancient city. For those driving, parking is available at the Nine Dragon Wall parking lot, just a 100-meter walk away. Despite being in a tourist area, it offers a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle. Guandi Temple is also conveniently located nearby. The service was excellent, and breakfast was quite good too. Both the owner and the staff were incredibly warm and welcoming. Although the May Day holiday prices were significantly higher than usual, the convenience made it completely worthwhile. Highly recommended!

MMethilanI spent nearly a week at Datong Milan/Magnolia Hotel (Dai Residence branch) and it was a very pleasant and enjoyable stay Location: - Nestled a quieter part of the ancient city, that provided a peaceful retreat after each day of exploring. - 10 minutes to some of the attractions of the old town - 15-20 minute walk to the popular restaurants and more attractions - 30 minute walk to Huayan Temple and its nearby street markets. I'm always happy to walk but if needed, I could always use DiDi to take me around. Falling asleep without street noise is something I like. There is a bit of building work going nearby, which is happening all over Datong Ancient City, but nothing too major. Nearby is the Ancient City's wall, but walk past that and you can see the locals dance in the morning in the park or walk along the canal/moat in the evening. Room: The room was surprisingly spacious, offering plenty of room to spread out and relax, a welcome change from cramped city accommodations. The staircase is a bit narrow, so those with lots of big luggage might struggle (no lift) Importantly, it was very clean and well equipped. I especially liked the Chinese tea ceremony set! Service: - Despite a noticeable language barrier, everyone went above and beyond with smiles, helpful gestures, and clear efforts to communicate. - Especially the manager, who told me about local food to try, things to do and asked if I needed anything. She noticed that I was bringing back leftovers from the restaurant, and bottled drinks from the shops, and said I could use the fridge. - I can't speak Chinese so when the delivery driver came to drop off my order, the staff will take it from the reception and bring it to me. - Unfortunately, breakfast isn't available here - Drinking water topped up. Humidifier and mosquito repellent were provided when needed. I will not hesitate to book here again on my next visit and I highly recommend this hotel for anyone seeking comfort and genuine warmth in Datong!

GGuest UserWe took a 23-day trip through China, staying in 9 different hotels. Without hesitation, I can say that our stay at Floral stood out in many ways. First, the hotel's structure is very beautiful and has been renovated while staying true to the traditional style of the region. The hotel room itself was probably the most beautiful we had seen on our entire trip: spacious, with windows that actually opened, good air conditioning, and modern decor and furniture without being over the top. Second, the hotel's location is within the boundaries of the city wall and is part of the old town, so beautiful to walk around and see the traditional houses - many of them renovated according to the traditional style. And third and most importantly, the kindness of the people who work at the hotel. I have never felt so welcome anywhere on holiday as at this place. Unfortunately, I arrived with health problems and needed antibiotics - equivalents of the ones I had brought from Europe. I asked the reception where I could find the closest pharmacy, but rather than guiding me there, Xiao Liu, the lady at the reception, figured out for me which antibiotic would be the right one and got it for me. The same when we needed a suitcase, rather than sending me to the shop she inquired about our desired suitcase and in one hour it was there. Drinks are complementary at any time of the day, and the breakfast (Chinese and international - sandwiches) was generous and unlimited. When we were running late coming back from the grottoes and needed to catch a train, Xiao Liu helped us out by bringing us all our suitcases directly to the train station. We will never forget all these acts of kindness and we are still grateful to her and the entire hotel staff for making us feel so much at home. Datong will stay in our minds and hearts forever thanks to the people of the Floral hotel. Datong is special enough for all the incredible cultural sights you can visit - but our stay there will never be forgotten thanks to the beauty of the Floral Hotel and its amazing people. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!

GGuest UserThis trip to Pingyao, I am very honored to choose the glory homestay. Although it is outside the ancient city, it is super convenient to travel. It takes only a minute to walk to the entrance of the ancient city, and it also avoids the trouble of traffic control in the ancient city. The room was clean and warm, the bedding was soft, and I fell asleep as soon as I touched the pillow at night. The owner of the homestay is a retired veteran of 20 years. The service is super enthusiastic. Not only does he help plan the route, but also recommends many small shops that locals often go to. The price is very favorable and only tens of dollars, which is really good value for money. I especially recommend everyone to stay and experience

GGuest User5-Star Review for Tingbo Hotel I recently stayed at Tingbo Hotel and had an absolutely exceptional experience that deserves a full 5-star rating. From start to finish, every detail was carefully crafted, making my trip comfortable, memorable, and deeply culturally enriching. The hotel’s facilities blend elegant new Chinese design with modern convenience perfectly. Rooms are spacious, quiet, and equipped with smart room controls, high-speed Wi-Fi, comfortable bedding, and sleek, well-appointed bathrooms. The hotel also offers a well-maintained gym, a 24-hour self-service laundry room, and elegant public spaces ideal for relaxation and photos. Cleanliness is impeccable throughout the property. Rooms are spotless, with fresh linens, sanitized surfaces, and tidy layouts that create a welcoming and hygienic environment. Housekeeping is efficient and thoughtful, ensuring a consistently pleasant stay. Service is warm, professional, and attentive. The front desk team is friendly and efficient, providing useful local travel tips and prompt assistance with any requests. Staff go out of their way to make guests feel valued, with thoughtful touches that enhance the overall experience. A true highlight is the hotel’s complimentary Shanxi merchant costume rental service. The traditional outfits are well-made and authentic, perfect for capturing beautiful photos in the ancient city. This unique cultural experience deepened my connection to local history and made my trip unforgettable. In summary, Tingbo Hotel excels in facilities, cleanliness, service, and cultural experience. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area and will definitely return on my next trip.
