Mercure Bordeaux Centre Gare Atlantic

The hotel experience was excellent. First, we were afraid of the location, but the metro in front of the hotel made everything so easy and accessible. One thing that was drawing attention was not to have a reception shop, but I thought that would limit the service, but it revealed a simple and welcoming service made by efficient and gentle staff. The food was also very positive, both for the variety and quality of food. What I missed was a little more comfort, such as a fridge in the room and a kitchen, for example. Another thing that left it to desire was the ”city view” that was a window too high to observe, well different from what was expected for the description of the room. And what I liked most was the room to be very comfortable and comfortable, with good finishes and a set of very well-selected colours and lights. The bathroom was excellent, but also shower a great cleaning service. And bed .... bed ... was perfect and exceeded expectations regarding size, comfort and quality of the towels and shirts. It was an excellent stay.
Hôtel le Bayonne
4.1/566 Reviews
Le Bayonne is situated on the river and offers nice views, if you have a room on this side. The room was not the most spacious, but comfortable non-the-less. Loved having a parking lot available. It is normally quite expensive to park, but because we were there in October, it was free! Nice surprise! Breakfast left something to be desired for the price. And, the restaurant is kind of hit and miss. The location is not central to the old town, but is a pretty reasonable walk.
Renaissance Bordeaux Hotel

Location: Initially, I was concerned about the location since the hotel isn’t located in or near Bordeaux downtown. However, it was a non-issue due to available transportation options and quick tram ride to the main attractions in Bordeaux. The tram station is a short walk to/from the hotel. We had no issues getting back to the hotel via the tram even at late (December) night. Hotel staff and rooms/facility: The hotel staff did their best to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. They all spoke fluent English. We had two rooms and both of them were very comfortable. I did not have any issues with the noise from either side of the rooms (5th floor) we were staying. The hotel is pretty new and nicely laid out for a comfortable stay. Good size high quality bottled water has been placed in the room by the housekeeping daily and we really appreciated that. Breakfast: Breakfast was great and had a lot of options. The restaurant has a very nice commercial grade automatic espresso machine at your disposal and I was able to make any coffee myself. Overall, we all enjoyed staying at the Renaissance Bordeaux and the city of Bordeaux. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Bordeaux.

Domaine du Ferret Restaurant & Spa
4.2/572 Reviews
This is a beautiful property set in stunning forest. The lodges fit in with the environment perfectly. They are beautifully appointed and decorated. What I would have liked is a small welcome basket of tea/coffee maybe even a small bottle of wine. The staff had left a lovely welcome message in accommodation acknowledging my birthday so I don’t think it was too much to ask. A few improvements in the restaurant are required though. Food was undeniably excellent but far too expensive. This isn’t a 5 star hotel and I suspect attracts a different clientele so more choice required on the menu. The menu du jour should have two/three options for starter/main/dessert. Price was reasonable for this but there was no choice, just as is. On the night we were there it was fish starter and main so if you didn’t like fish, you had no other option but à la carte. We also found service a bit rushed in the restaurant which again didn’t match the prices. Spa was fabulous and large so never felt crowded. However, to charge a supplement for residents of €20 per person per day seems a bit much when accommodation already cost €220 per night. Overall, I would recommend it and go back but I would take a box of groceries and eat out. Breakfast is worth it though and incredible value at €16. We didn’t have the Sunday brunch as it was ridiculously expensive at €49 per person. More than double what we normally pay in Bordeaux. A lovely relaxing location.
Radisson Blu Hotel, Biarritz

This is a 4 star hotel and quite expensive and as such we found that the standard of the accommodation did not live up to expectations. The room was large but a bit old fashioned in style and there was an over bath shower which isn't to be expected in this grade of hotel these days. The worst feature, however was the horrible, musty smell that remained in the room the whole time we were there. It was really quite unpleasant and it was impossible to identify where it was coming from. Carpets in the corridors were marked in places despite attempts having been made to clean them and the stairs which we took on one occasion instead of the lifts were very neglected. Wooden effect floors throughout would be much more practical. In general everywhere was just tired and in need of updating. The staff, on the other hand, were delightful, very friendly, helpful and efficient and the hotel is in an excellent position for the town centre and one of the beaches.
Best Western Poitiers Centre le Grand Hotel

Location, faultless. Right on the centre of the old town. Ideal for sightseeing. The reception is tucked away up a side entry but once found its a pretty straight forward check in procedure. It's not huge and doesn't need to be. The room was more than adequate for me travelling on my own. Clean bedlinen, laundered towels and a tea tray stocked. Safe in wardrobe if needed along with enough clothes hangers to keep all shirts crease free. My view wasn't at all interesting but then I didn't pay for a view. 2 mins walk to the main square gives you all you want to zee see. The reception doubles up as a casual bar, while breakfast is in the first floor bar? Go figure. Breakfast was vast and catered for all. The staff were all very pleasant and courteous. Room service is an option extra should you choose.
Maisons du Monde Hôtel & Suites - la Rochelle Vieux Port
4.1/561 Reviews
We arrived in the dark, wind and rain. However, the lady from reception and valet came outside to greet us, which we appreciated. Very good car parking. The hotel is a lovely building on a street with nice shops and cafes. The hotel bar and lounge area is very nicely decorated with comfortable furniture and there was a fire burning, creating a lovely atmosphere. Our bedroom was large, the bed and pillows comfortable and the shower was great. I was very impressed by La Rochelle and would love to visit in summer. Very friendly and helpful staff. We did not eat in the restaurant but it looked good. Thankyou

Hôtel le B d'Arcachon by Inwood Hotels
4.4/573 Reviews
I stayed in the hotel with my daughter . It is around 30 minutes by transfer bus from Merignac airport in Bordeaux then a train approx 50 mins from St Jean train station in Bordeaux to Archachon . It’s an easy ten minute stroll to the hotel . It’s in a lovely location on the beach next to lovely seafood restaurants and near shops . You’ll find great high quality shopping here and it always feels safe , clean and quiet ( at this time of year ) . We had a classic room and it’s quiet , rooms are comfortable with great comfy beds . Toiletries in the bathroom are very good quality organic ones . There is a fridge in the room with a safe too . Our room had a balcony with table and chairs . You could eat your breakfast there . I have to say the breakfast was great , some fried breakfast but mainly continental - croissants , cheese , ham , yogurts , breads , coffee , fresh juice and tea . The staff are very helpful and pleasant . I’m glad I chose this hotel .
