4-Star Hotels in Penang, Malaysia

Recently we stayed at M Social Resort Penang and had a very enjoyable experience overall. The cleanliness of the hotel was very good. The room was generally well-maintained and comfortable. However, there is still some room for improvement, as I noticed a few tiny bugs or insects on the wall, as well as some spots around the sliding door area and on the balcony floor. The location is excellent, especially for those who enjoy beach activities. The hotel offers private beach access, which is very convenient and adds great value to the stay. The service was outstanding throughout my visit. The bellboy team was very helpful and professional, the reception staff were friendly and efficient, and room service was prompt and reliable. The service standards across all departments deserve recognition. The amenities provided were comprehensive and met all expectations. Everything needed for a comfortable stay was available. The swimming pool was well-maintained and clean. I especially appreciated the dedicated children’s section, making it suitable for families. The lobby is one of the highlights of the hotel. It is very clean, beautifully designed, and offers a fantastic view. The welcome drink provided before check-in was also a nice touch and created a great first impression. Parking facilities were generally good. While basement parking is available, the number of spaces is somewhat limited. Open-air parking is also available and works well. However, access from the basement parking area to the lobby needs improvement. There appears to be no direct lift access, requiring guests to climb two to three levels of stairs, which can be inconvenient, especially when carrying luggage. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, with a fluffy mattress and excellent pillows that provided a great night’s sleep. One feature that truly impressed me was the AI Box system that replaces the traditional hotel room phone. Guests can use it to control the TV, request amenities, contact room service, housekeeping, and reception. This modern and innovative feature greatly enhanced the overall guest experience. Overall, M Social Resort Penang offers excellent service, a great location with private beach access, comfortable rooms, modern technology, and a welcoming atmosphere. With minor improvements to room detailing and basement parking access, the experience would be even better.

The hotel was near to eateries and some malls but the malls are not the ‘high end’ type. Almost all the food options in the mall are Muslim friendly. Hotel service was good but we didn’t make use of their facilities such as the swimming pool and gym. The breakfast buffet was not really fantastic as the food is almost the same daily and not very tasty.. quite disappointing for a 4-star hotel under Shangri-La group. The room is quite spacious but toilet is a bit small. Water pressure from toilet bowl flushing was strong and noisy and water will start splashing around if we don’t close the toilet seat. The journey to hotel from airport is about 25-30 minutes depending on traffic conditions. Overall I would suggest staying at Gurney area instead of this area as the food options are better at Gurney.

Excellent, excellent, excellent! The facilities are complete and well-equipped, the environment is elegant, and the service is attentive. The surrounding amenities are also comprehensive. The front desk service was thoughtful and meticulous, and the breakfast was clean, hygienic, and plentiful. Uh.

Overall experience is still awesome, got upgraded to Premier room and spacious room with complimentary bathtub bathboom. Just on side hiccup is,the longer than expected waiting to check-in and hotel card issue. Unable to enter twice due to card failure,this leave room for improvement for the hotel personnel. Other than that,still handled professionally.

The room is clean and comfortable Perfect for families! We stayed in a suite and it was very spacious and clean. The kids loved the indoor pool, and having free self-service laundry was a total lifesaver. Highly recommend for anyone traveling with a group

The hotel was opened for less than a month when we visited. However, we enjoyed ourselves during our short stay there. The staff were friendly and warm, always willing to assist us. We were pleasantly surprised by how spacious the room is. The kitchenette in the room was well equipped with water filter, oven/microwave, crockery and utensils. They even provided dish soap and sponge. We were impressed by the thinking behind the laundry room which included entertainment such as pool table and board games. Great to pass time while waiting for laundry to be done. The hotel will definitely be a comfortable for longer stay. We will be back when we come back to Penang.

The hotel is right in the heart of Penang, surrounded by plenty of affordable food stalls, similar to hawker centers. The room size is decent, the bedding and pillows are clean, and the bathroom is also spotless. Definitely recommended.

There is no sufficient space for guests drop off and pick up and for if there are two to three cars the area before hotel will be messed up and stuck together! The enclosed captured screen from goggle map is self explanatory ! Every morning commencing 8:00 am to 09:00am there will be large trolleys outside the rooms and on upper floors transferring towels and other amenities around and the sound like you are sitting by the railway while the trains are crossing which was rather annoying. You will hear staff talking or chatting together and the metallic service door slamming during that period. Most interesting is every day the housekeeping has left souvenirs to us. The first day was a toilet brush and the second day was a cigarette lighter. Last but not the least when we approached the concierge to get the luggages while the car was waiting just outside the hotel main door the bell boy asked my wife to move the luggages by herself and the distance was only 3 meters away!

If you want convenience to good food such as Burung Hantu Nasi Lemak or Chowrasta Market for wonderful local food, then you should stay at St Giles. The room was airy and clean. Pillows were great as we slept well. The only flaw was the mini fridge wasn’t clean but generally a good stay for four days. Staff was also helpful and we also loaned an umbrella from the concierge. Free parking for those who intend to drive.
