It was a wonderful stay! My family and I really love the hotel. From check in until check out, everything was smooth. Extra credit to the team and staff. We had a stay there to celebrate my husband’s birthday, they helped out with the decorations of the room. It was so delightful.
Overall, my stay at this hotel was really great, perfect for those who want comfort and convenience for exploring and dining.
What impressed me most was the sense of space. Both the room and the public areas were very spacious, completely free of any cramped feeling. The room itself was large enough to spread out luggage and move around freely. The bedding and furniture layout were well-arranged, not feeling crowded at all, making for a very relaxing stay. The bathroom area was also quite roomy, with a clean and efficient wet/dry separation, making showering and washing up very comfortable and convenient for daily use.
Next up is the pool, which scored high marks for both aesthetics and practicality. The pool's design is beautiful, the water quality is clean, and the environment is meticulously maintained. It's fantastic for photos during the day when the light is good, and a swim in the evening or at night with the breeze is incredibly pleasant. It's suitable for both relaxing and for kids to play in the water. Even just sitting by the pool and daydreaming felt very therapeutic.
The location is another big plus. It's super close to the night market, within walking distance, making it incredibly convenient for evening strolls and eating. No need for taxis or long walks; if you want to grab some snacks, buy small items, or soak in the local atmosphere, it’s just a few steps away. Returning late also felt very safe. It’s ideal for anyone who loves the night market vibe and doesn't want to hassle with transportation.
Good stay at Jazz Hotel Penang 👍
Really satisfied with my trip here. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable, with a bathtub and even a complimentary bath bomb which made the stay extra relaxing. Love the rooftop pool and the overall modern vibe.
Location is convenient — walking distance to Straits Quay and easy access to Gurney area for food. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout the stay.
Overall a pleasant experience, will definitely come back again!
Bayview Hotel Penang is excellently located near to good food and sights. The hotel staff are helpful and kind, and the hotel premises itself is grand though it has seen more gloried days in the past. The rooms are spacious and beds comfy, the pillows a little thin but one can request for extra foam pillows if required. i like that they have a QR code guest cam scan and ask for services online, which supercedes calling on the phone. Me and my friend enjoyed our stay though the view was a tat disappointing cuz we didn't get the full bay view. 🙂
This hotel is, without a doubt, the best in Penang for service and cleanliness. It's quite luxurious for the city, but the price is surprisingly reasonable. The front desk staff, in particular, were outstanding. There were two people, RASHVEEN and FAKHRUL, and I believe a manager too, who gave us a sea-view room and agreed to a late checkout until 2 PM. They even provided us with drinks when we went to Penang Hill. The service was superb from start to finish. The hotel breakfast also offered a great variety of options. If I ever visit Penang again, I'll definitely be staying here.
Design of the room wardrobe and working table is very welcoming and appreciated. Room size is spacious and comfortable. Amenities and toiletries were sufficiently provided. Room and wardrobe cleanliness is thumbs up.
Thank you, once again to the Bellman, Faizan for his friendliness and warmth hospitality. Good interactions with hotel guest making us feel so welcoming.
But, few setbacks in the room
- there were sands on the bed covered by duvet
- bathroom grouting puts me off
- the basin tap head hit against the toiletries shelf, each time to turn on and off, adjustment is definitely necessary
- hot water mixer is too unfriendly, due to temperature it resulted to hot lever so, you be shocked to touch it
The Shangri-La hotel definitely lives up to its brand standards. Its location is superb, right next to the bus terminal for easy access to the free CAT bus, and GAMA supermarket is just a short walk away for snacks. There are plenty of dining options within a one-kilometer radius. The main draw for me was the convenience, and the room facilities were clean, which is all I needed. My room on the 15th floor was quite high up and offered a distant view of the sea. I even got a free fireworks show during Eid al-Fitr! The only downside was the soundproofing, which wasn't great.
This hotel has very few Chinese-speaking staff, I only encountered one on my last day out of four! The breakfast was terrible! There was a lot of Indian food, and even the DIY noodle soup was bad! The Western food was also unappetizing! It was so bad I felt like screaming for help! We chose this hotel because we were a family traveling together and needed a triple room.
The front desk staff were very attentive and enthusiastic, speaking Chinese, English, and Malay, making communication a breeze. The room was clean, tidy, and odor-free, which is great for a new hotel. The daytime view from the window was amazing, offering a mix of the old town and towering buildings. There's a restaurant and a pool, and the view from the rooftop pool is particularly stunning – I highly recommend swimming at night for a different kind of enjoyment. Downstairs, you'll find convenience stores, restaurants, and supermarkets, plus a Chinese supermarket nearby, which is incredibly convenient. I'll definitely choose to stay here again on my next trip to Penang.
This hotel is considered an older, established 4-star property in the old town, and some of the facilities are a bit dated; I hope they can be updated. The hotel breakfast is excellent, with a good variety and local specialties, though I wish they'd improve the drink quality. My room was old, the AC was leaking, and the ceiling was visibly peeling. Lin at the front desk, who speaks Chinese, provided exceptional service, while others were just average. We arrived on New Year's Eve without a reservation for the buffet dinner, but Lin communicated with the restaurant and managed to get us an extra table so we could enjoy our New Year's Eve meal. However, the 188 MYR price didn't match the quality; if this were in China, it probably wouldn't last a month. The salmon was cut into small strips, and the plate was empty quickly—looks like it's the same everywhere, haha. Ninety percent of the diners were local Chinese. The hotel is located in the old town, about a 15-minute walk to the mural street, and not far from Little India and the Peranakan Museum. There's a hawker center downstairs, but it was closed for the New Year. Overall, the hotel is good, and the location is quiet yet central.

RRayTFirst of all the hotel rented out the rooms for individual operator.
So there will be different check in counter.
Upon check in, been told that the room card not functioning as they are doing upgrading, so every time u come back will need to call the house keeping to unlock the door.
Most importantly they charge RM 17 per night for car parking. So a lot of car parking outside which make the entrance a bit difficult

GGuest UserThe semi-transparent door in the room is really not family-friendly, and it doesn't close properly, always leaving a 3cm gap. This severely impacts the sense of security. After complaining to the staff, they just put a lock on with double-sided tape, which, while it allowed the door to lock and reduced the gap, still didn't make it close flush.
On top of that, the water pressure is extremely low, and the overhead shower is unusable. The staff mentioned that many guests have complained about this, but it still hasn't been fixed. Although there are two air conditioners in the room, one frequently turns off by itself, requiring me to switch it back on multiple times throughout the night, which disturbed my sleep. The light above the bed was also broken and kept flickering.
However, the staff were generally friendly, and the hotel itself is spacious and quite clean.

HH4ik4lIf you’re looking for a modern, well-located stay in George Town, Beacon Executive Suites is a popular choice that balances luxury with practical apartment-style living.
Here is a general review based on typical guest experiences as of late 2025:
Beacon Executive Suites Penang: Review
The Highlight: The Rooftop Sky Podium
The standout feature of this property is the rooftop infinity pool. Located on the highest floor, it offers a stunning 360-degree panoramic view of the Penang skyline, including a clear view of Komtar. It is arguably one of the best spots in the city for sunrise or a late-night dip, as the pool is often heated or kept at a comfortable temperature.
Accommodations & Comfort
The suites are designed as ”Executive” units, meaning they feel more like a high-end condo than a standard hotel room.
• Space: Most units feature high ceilings, which give the apartments a bright, airy, and ”cooling” feel.
• Amenities: Units typically come with a fully equipped kitchenette, a washing machine, and high-speed Wi-Fi, making it excellent for families or digital nomads staying for more than a few days.
• Cleanliness: Generally rated very high (often scoring 9.0+ on booking platforms). Guests frequently mention the ”sparkling clean” condition of the rooms upon check-in.
Location & Accessibility
Situated on Jalan Sungai Pinang, the location is strategic:
• Foodie Heaven: You are within a 5-minute drive of famous food spots like the Padang Brown food court and various local cafes.
• Sightseeing: Most major George Town attractions (Armenian Street, Chew Jetty, and Komtar) are just a 7–10 minute Grab ride away.
• Convenience: There is a minimarket on-site and several 24-hour convenience stores within walking distance.
Things to Consider
• Self-Check-In: Like many executive suites in Penang, this is often managed by third-party hosts rather than a traditional hotel front desk. Communication is usually done via WhatsApp or messaging apps.
• Parking: While free parking is provided, the multi-level parking garage requires driving up several floors, which can be a bit tedious if you are in a rush.
• Security: Security is strict, which is great for safety, but make sure to keep your access card with you at all times to avoid being locked out of common areas.
Final Verdict
Best for: Families, groups of friends, and business travelers who want more space and better facilities than a hotel room can offer.
Rating: 4.5 / 5
It offers incredible value for money, especially for the quality of the rooftop facilities and the modern interior of the suites.
QQays8The resort has a modern design and I was pleased with the level of service provided by the staff, who were consistently polite and helpful. In particular, I would like to commend the Indian bellboy for his excellent attitude and professionalism.
However, there were several areas that could be improved. The room carpet had visible stains, the in-room AI device was not functioning, and the TV channel selection was very limited, especially the absence of sports channels.
During breakfast, the food variety was limited and did not reflect local cuisine, with no roti canai or teh tarik offered. Additionally, bihun goreng ran out early and was replaced with maggie goreng. There was also a lack of staff presence and signage at the breakfast area, which caused some confusion for guests.
JJudith1708A bit disappointed cos the buffet breakfast is very local. I thought it’s shangrila so it should be international. They put western for sausage snd harsh brown other than that all malay food. We booked a 2 rooms for me n my husband and another room is occupied by my children, my children room toilet is leaking so everytime we bath there will be flooding. The aircon is not so cold in both rooms even the technician repair it, it’s still not cold, cos I think its because the hotel is too old and they never maintain it. Cos u can see the dust rust in every corner.
