No shuttle service after 8 pm, but free shuttle taxi service bfe that.
Big, difficult to locate the hotsprings at the beginning.
Very beautiful view of the town n river from the lobby.
Breakfast is fantastic but time is short. Closed a bit too early ie 9am.
some area in the tatami room has no heating. Making u easy to get a cold.
All the staff were very friendly, and the room was spacious and cleaned daily. They offer complimentary supper each night (ochazuke/tangyuan). Breakfast costs around 1650 JPY and is quite delicious – great for those on a tight schedule to fill up before heading out. The rooftop onsen provides free popsicles. In the hotel lobby, you can enjoy complimentary coffee and iced water. The hotel's dinner is worth trying; there are à la carte options (around 1500 JPY) and Hida beef (around 4000 JPY). I tried all three à la carte choices, and they were all excellent and highly recommended, offering great value for money. The hotel is conveniently located a 5-minute walk from JR Takayama Station and the Nohi Bus Terminal. There's a McDonald's within a 10-minute walk and a FamilyMart just a 2-minute walk away, so you don't have to worry about getting hungry late at night. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel; I would definitely book it again if I return to Takayama.
Stayed there with as a family of 3. While I really wanted to like the ryokan due to the warm service and great feedback from friends, my own experience was a bit disappointing. We have stayed in many traditional ryokans prior to this and were familiar with the setup. We are appreciative with the warm service and sincere touches; like candies at check in, but the ryokan itself is really quite old and in need of a refresh.
Our room is tucked away in a corner and required us to go down a small flight of stairs to reach. I am not sure if the location meant that is a bit colder than the rest of the rooms but we really did feel cold and the heating was inadequate. The in built heater would also stop and beep in the middle of the night, which led 2 of us falling sick at the start of the trip. We requested for a additional small heater which helped a bit. Second night, our 9yo son also got many mysterious bites all over his leg. He claimed to have seen a bug crawl under the tatami mat but we were not certain and therefore did not feedback to the ryokan as we only had one more remaining night to go. We had only stayed 1 night in nagoya's marriott associa hotel prior to our ryokan visit, and his skin improved after we left Takayama, leading us to think that it might have been the stay there.
This is a well-established, classic hotel. As foreign tourists, we definitely took advantage of local resources here. The Chinese restaurant inside isn't really worth trying, but unfortunately, it was the only option available for reservations on the day we stayed. The hot springs, however, were fantastic; it was lovely to quietly enjoy the beauty of fewer people during the off-season. Breakfast was also very good, and all the guests were polite and queued orderly, which made for a harmonious atmosphere – something I hope all travelers can experience. To the right of the main entrance, there are geta (wooden clogs) you can try on, and a short walk to the nearby river leads to a hot spring footbath, which was very pleasant.
If you arrive early, you can store your luggage at the station and explore Shirakawa-go until the hotel shuttle picks you up in the afternoon. Walking to the hotel is definitely difficult and even dangerous, and you probably won't be able to check in early anyway. The hygiene was good, and the restaurant staff were all young men who were very enthusiastic and polite. However, the interval between dishes for dinner on the second day was a bit long; we sat there for almost two hours, and the dessert never came. We couldn't wait any longer and left. The restaurant was also a bit cold. When taking a car to Shirakawa-go, be sure to arrange a return time with the driver. Many people who say they regret coming to Shirakawa-go and that it's not beautiful probably didn't come at the right season or time. The autumn scenery here is truly beautiful, and I'm glad I didn't listen to those who had visited before and said negative things.
The hotel boasts a convenient location, pristine cleanliness, excellent facilities, and fantastic service. They provide laundry and drying machines, complimentary drinking water and ice, along with free luggage storage. Rooms are notably spacious for Japan, and the bathrooms are a good size too. The breakfast offers superb value for money; if you're not pressed for time, I highly recommend having it daily.
New hotel, modern, just next to Takayama Station so very convenient location. Room is spacious. With Japanese onsen facility and foot bath (with great view) which are free to use. Dinner is tasty. The only comment is long queue during checkin time at around 3pm probably because it is a popular hotel or so happen a train arrived.
Just had an amazing time in this ryokan with a friend. The public bathroom in the open air - incredible, big, and also a lot of steam, along with the lighting of the lanterns, gives an incredible onsen-vibe! (But it was closed for cleaning at midnight, and not at one in the morning, as written in the brochure). There is also a sauna with a cold bath. After onsen, you can drink milk for free or eat ice cream from frozen juice. There is a separate paid lounge with unlimited beer, wine and whiskey. Private bathrooms are not bad, but not like public ones, plus they were constantly occupied by couples. The bath in the room itself is also not bad, but if you are tall, there may be problems with where to put your feet x) Dinner and breakfast were amazingly tasty. I especially liked the space on the street by the fire, where you can fry marshmallows or just sit after onsen to cool off with a strong drink) During the day we ride to Kamikochi, also a fantastic place)
Rooms in Japan tend to be small, but at this price point, it's really great value for money and better than I expected. The hotel's location is excellent; you can basically walk to all the attractions without getting tired from exploring. Plus, there's a hot spring you can enjoy!
The waiter is kind and courteous, and the communication is barrier-free.
The hotel provides a local snack experience, and the family is surrounded by the stove and feels warm. Snacks are good.
The room is spacious and the view is beautiful. very good!

11589543****I've never stayed in a hotel room this spacious in Japan for only 400 yuan. The only downside is that getting to and from Takayama Station isn't convenient; you'll need the hotel's shuttle service. If you miss a shuttle, you have to wait a long time, especially since the last one departs at 9:30 PM. However, the mountain views are stunning, and the breakfast is plentiful. The hotel also offers an outdoor bath, though it's not a hot spring. If you're spending an extra couple of days in Takayama, it's worth experiencing this place.
温温哥华雨This hotel is super convenient, just a three-minute walk from Takayama Station as shown on the map. The room was clean and well-maintained. Taking a dip in the upstairs hot spring bath at night was incredibly relaxing and helped wash away the day's fatigue. While it's a bit of a walk to the morning market and other attractions, the overall experience was good.
AAnonymous UserClose to bus station, self check in/ check out, free ramen at night. Onsen was a bit confusing as a first timer as the shower is inside the onsen area and not in the changing area. Did not bother to wait for the private onsen as many couples were queuing in the public area already. Free popsicles on the way out from onsen.

AAnonymous UserThe hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of the JR station, and popular attractions like the Hida Takayama Old Town are just a 10-minute walk away. Coming back to the hotel for a relaxing hot spring bath in the evening was wonderful. The hotel's breakfast was also quite good. Highly recommended!
설설렝I chose this hotel to relax after trekking with a friend, and it made for a perfect trip! I was worried about getting around because it seemed remote, but they provided pick-up and drop-off service, so it wasn't a problem at all. The food was delicious, the room was spacious, and the hot springs were wonderful. The staff were also very friendly, which I appreciated.
TTiaodongzhongdexiaoshumiao[”1: The service was really lacking. I had two large suitcases and it was pouring rain, but no one helped me get them into the car. There was no bell boy. The old man at the front desk only helped with my shoes. His English was terrible. When I called the front desk at night, no one could speak English.”,”2: The rooms in the main building are quite spacious and comfortable, but there are no showers in the rooms. You have to go to the large public bath for a shower, and there's only a toilet in the room. If you're traveling with children, definitely don't stay in the main building, unless you're lucky enough to get the room the Emperor stayed in!”,”3: The breakfast was incredibly disappointing. Compared to other onsen hotels, their breakfast was very, very meager.”,”4: The hot spring water is truly excellent; it's wonderful for your skin.”]
