Hotels Near Tagoyama Forest Park in Aso

We are so happy we booked this hotel for heading to Mt Aso. First, the staff greeting was super warm and welcoming. The hotel is brand new and while our room was a great and functional design, the bed was the most comfortable western-style bed we’ve had in all of Japan! It’s location is super convenient if you arrive by train (it’s across the street) and while they don’t really have dining facilities, there is a fun outdoor market right outside where we grabbed dinner: meat skewers, mustard greens biscuit and a delicious craft beer (there is also ramen and a few other food choices).

I recently had the pleasure of staying at ASO Base Backpackers during my visit to Aso, Japan, and I must say it was an unforgettable experience. This charming hostel exceeded my expectations in every aspect and left me with beautiful memories of my time in Aso. First and foremost, the location of ASO Base Backpackers is simply breathtaking. Situated at 1498 Kurokawa, it offers a serene and picturesque setting surrounded by the natural beauty of Aso. The hostel is nestled amidst lush greenery and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the warm and friendly staff who went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. The accommodation at ASO Base Backpackers was cozy, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed. The dormitory-style rooms were clean and well-maintained, with comfortable beds and ample storage space. The front desk is an old-fashioned inn style. The slippers that enter the eye as soon as they enter the room are dirt and heel cut off, and even if the paper of ”disinfected” is riding, it is hesitant to wear today. The hand towel for hot springs is not dedicated to oneself who entered the vinyl, but washed and used. The room and the shared space are not deteriorated, but I felt that I was working hard in the double punch of the earthquake and corona. The bath is divided into ”dondoyu” which can take a day trip bath and a hot spring dedicated to guests. ”Dondoyu” is located at the hotel front desk, looking at the vast garden, and walking 2,3 minutes through the crossing corridor where there is a rabbit hut on the way. There was an open-air bath that had been boldly made in the garden, and there was an open-air bath that had been pulled out of hot water due to corona, but the large open-air bath was put in a source. In the morning, ”dondoyu” was closed, so I went to the guest only, but I was able to enjoy it at a hot spring with a wide 々 with an open-air bath. As for the meal, breakfast was normal, but dinner was great. Especially the red beef pottery plate was amazing, and such a delicious steak was not eaten easily. The overall evaluation is 3.5 points. If you close your eyes to oldness, it is a hotel that can be satisfied enough.

A restaurant inn close to ASO Jinja shrine. Service and the cherry blossom room in the building are good. Now it is a small number of people, and the drink order during the meal is painful. It is highly likely that it will arrive at the back entrance from ASO Jinja shrine and bus stop, and in that case, it may take time to notice even if it enters. Although the quality is high overall, there is an impression that there is no writing equipment in the questionnaire, and there is no counter, so the place of check-out is unclear now.

A traditional onsen hotel, recently renovated and facilities modernised. The twin bed room is large - about 50 sq m in size. In addition, there is a balcony overlooking an excellent view. The breakfast and dinner buffet are fine, though not very special. I like the Japanese style dinner better. The hotel is situated inside the mountain. Access is not easy. There are no shops nearby.

Welcome sweets are handmade ohagi, and matcha. I've been caught from the beginning! The futon was clean, the color taste was fashionable, and the family rental bath with four was small, but it was very clean and the worry about the amenities was the best. There were many kinds of dinner and breakfast. When I checked out, I had a big diaper and sent it out with a cheerful smile. It is an inn that makes me want to go again.

I stayed with my eldest son's family of 4 who live in Kumamoto.They said they had never stayed at Kurokawa Onsen even though they had lived in Kumamoto for about 6 years, so they came all the way from Saitama to pay all the expenses to us.I wonder what's going on. (lol) The accommodation was a large inn in Kurokawa Onsen, but we entered the hot springs at 4pm, 8pm, and 7am the next day, but for some reason we had almost exclusive access to the hot springs.We had a large indoor bath surrounded by a bamboo grove, and a Japanese cypress bath. There are three hot springs: two, an open-air bath, and a hot spring with an open-air bath that can be used by visitors.The second one was probably the best.The quality of the spring water is simple.The room was an ordinary Japanese-style room, but you could hear the sound of a waterfall from the river flowing beside it. The meal was a buffet, and the tuna sushi with red vinegar was excellent.Afterwards, we had various types of skewers, amberjack sashimi, roast beef, and my elementary school grandson ate 5 rolls of eel, which was overeating.There were all-you-can-drink shochu drinks. We were able to compare the drinks! The shochu from Kurokawa Onsen was delicious, and the breakfast buffet included natto and milk that were locally produced and delicious.At night, we got to see Jupiter and the moon through an astronomical telescope, and my grandson was impressed! I didn't go for a walk around the city due to the cold weather, so I just stayed at the inn, but I was able to take it easy.I think this is an inn that families can enjoy together.

The staff will move you to the parking lot a little far away. The lobby, lounge, and front desk are on the ３ floor, and the wooden building makes you feel warm. The room I stayed in was on the ２ floor of the new building. １０ It feels wide even in a Japanese-style room with tatami mats. It is also nice to have a four-tatami service room with a digging. The water of the river flows nearby, and the sound of the water clears your heart. The large communal bath is on the １ floor, the indoor bath and the open-air bath, both of which are equipped with natural stones. The quality of the spring is colorless and odorless salt spring. There is no feeling of slimy, but the body warms up to the core. Dinner • Breakfast is full of content. Dinner is a course meal. Every dish is really delicious because it makes full use of the characteristics of seasonal ingredients. The salt-grilled salmon is salty and very fat and delicious. There was also a cherry blossom for breakfast, but it is tempura, so it seems that the taste is different from the cherry blossom for dinner and eating another river fish. Even if you use the same ingredients, you can realize that if the cooking method changes, the taste changes like magic. The rice was also very delicious. The grains of rice 々 stand and shine is evidence of delicious rice.

The Manager and staff were amazing and so helpful - Probably the best service we had all trip from 7 different stays. We had the dining experience and not only was the food wonderful, they even change our food when we said we were scared of trying the Horse & Chicken Sashimi. The view from the in-room onsen was brilliant. If you want to be critical then its a 10min walk to the village centre but thats why we choose this Hotel plus we just drove to the village centre - so simple. To the Manager - Please thank your staff for making our stay here an amazing one.

Ryokan with our spectacular. The hotel is very close to the hotel with a person at the entrance, indicating where to park, very close reception that explains everything and accompany you to the room, with tea service and sweets nothing more to reach.
