I was super excited to stay here and I don’t normally leave negative reviews, but this was the worst communication and hotel experience I’ve ever had and despite many, many attempts to talk with them they just don’t respond so I’m writing this here in hopes other people won’t have the same issues. First, I made a reservation through their own website which uses some third party platform called wix. The ‘we received your request’ email said I’d receive a confirmation email within 48 hours which would have a link to PayPal for the deposit. Email never came. I tried calling, no response. I replied to the email ‘we got your request email’, no response. A few days later we tried calling again, and they did pick up. They said ‘oh that platform is just linked on the website but to make a reservation you need to call’. Which is totally understandable, but that isn’t what their website says at all. And in these few days the room I had tried to reserve was already taken and the hotel was full. But they said they recently started renting one of their neighbor’s places and could offer us that at the rate of the room I had originally requested. So we took it. I have no reference for what the primary rooms are like, but this was like someone’s grandma’s house that was like what I lived in when I was 22 and volunteered. To be fair the woman who checked us in was super nice and they greet you with juice and fruit. The food area has a nice view. The unit itself had three separate bedrooms, great shower, and a kitchen with cold water in the fridge. But all the windows had huge holes in the screens so lots of mosquitos. Each room had a back door leading to the separate bathroom area and those doors didn’t lock. The fans were not strong enough to combat the way heat collected in the house because of the building materials. Overall it was functional but was just too hot and buggy for a short vacation and the price. My dad is older and the heat was really affecting him, plus I had been fighting a cold that got so much worse with just an attempted nap in the place…so we found a different hotel. We tried calling horizontes to let them know - again no one answered. We called about 5 times. No answer. Because this unit was not part of the main property, it was up the huge hill in the complete dark to get to the hotel itself and after a super long day of heat and travel we weren’t up to it. So we tried calling one more time to let them know we were leaving, again no response. Left the key and a tip for the cleaners. Once we got to the other hotel ($20 more a night, AC, very clean, pool, picked up the phone) we wrote Horizontes on WhatsApp explaining the situation and apologizing. We didn’t ask for any reimbursement, just explained why we had left. No response. Bc this was on WhatsApp I could see they read the messages. They never responded. They never called or emailed despite having all our info. Literally no communication. So maybe this place is ok, maybe in the other
