Here’s an honest review
🏨The hotel is supposed to be ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️star but it didn’t feel like one. Below are the reasons why⬇️
1. The rooms are not sound proof. We can totally hear noises from outside and upstairs people banging the door (even though windows are totally shut).
2. They did not have complementary water (which I believe all 4 star hotels should provide). They only gave us after we called them the next day.
3. No slippers provided too, until we called and asked.
4. The shower and bathtub aren’t separated, and it’s slippery. I fell and hurt my elbow.
6. Lastly, I paid for a hotel where I can use their amenities for free (atleast that’s what I thought). Apparently, this hotel doesn’t allow their guests to use the pool and gym for free. You need to pay to get access. (300SEK = 200¥+) Such a disappointment! 🤬
It felt like I was ripped off 😔
On a good note, the location is great. 👍🏻
It is just a walking distance to everything like bus station, coffee shops, mall, restaurants, and tourist attractions.

First up, the breakfast is excellent! There's a whole lot of choice for everyone. There's also enough of place to sit and the breakfast area is not cramped for space. The location is also very good as its quite near to the Alvik bus/train station. A grocery store ICA is also located very near to the hotel. Unfortunately, the rooms make the rating go down. Scandik doesn't have air conditioning in any of their hotels. They have some kind of an air regulation system which is centrally controlled which means that one can't do much individually in the room. Also the windows cannot be opened at all. So during hot summer days, this makes some of the rooms extremely hot if they are located in areas receiving a lot of sunlight. I visited Scandik Alvik during such a summer time and it was extremely uncomfortable. Our room was hot compared to the other rooms my friends and family were staying in. The staff did their best to help us out and move us to a different room after 4 uncomfortable nights but it was still a dampener. The other issue is that kettles are not available in all the rooms. My room didn't have one and when my wife contracted a cold and needed warm water to soothe her sore throat, no kettles were available. We got one only after 2 days because only a few rooms have kettles. There's no mini bar or fridge either. I guess my issues arose due to the heat - maybe in cooler months, these things wouldn't matter.

Came to the first hotel in Sweden, the first impression is very good! Hotel check-in in the afternoon, not in advance. But the front desk service is good! There are also free fruits, drinks and snacks. The surroundings of the hotel are a bit far from the scenic spots, 2-3km away from the old city, the hotel has a kitchen, and there are supermarkets around, so you can cook your own meals easily!

The room was clean and the breakfast had salmon, which was my favorite type. The hotel is not far from the subway green line, and there are bus stops around it, and the transportation is convenient. Very recommended, if I come to Stockholm again, I will stay again!

This was one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in. From the moment I arrived I felt welcomed, especially by Michelle, who upgraded my room to a deluxe (which I definitely recommend) at a good deal. She then gave me plenty of good advice on how to set off sightseeing in Stockholm. My deluxe room was very big (often a rarity in Euro capital city hotels) with a beautiful park view, and contained a blessed bath, perfect for long days getting in your steps in cold, rainy weather (to be fair, it was October in Sweden). The hotel is part of a stage, so the downstairs bar, while lovely, was often too busy pre-show to get in any pre-dinner drinks. However it was always good for a post-show or post-dinner nightcap. Hotel Rival is in a great location, with a metro stop less than 300m and only a short and pleasant stroll to Gamla Stan. It was a rare case of a hotel truly feeling like a home. Will definitely stay here again if/when I ever make it back to Stockholm.

Loved this hotel!! Sofia was amazing and helped me when I got in and on my way out. While there Marie was also helpful! I was lucky enough that my room was ready before 3pm (check-in) and they let me in to change etc!!! Just a 10 minute walk from the Express Arlanda station, taxi ride if you have big luggage. ONLY 5 minute walk to the pier and many of the touristic options of boats and hop-on-off boats and buses there! The room was big enough for me because I was traveling by myself. With a big tv for nights in, room 14 has a huge bathroom if you don't mind having no windows and I didn't because I was mostly out and it's better for sleeping 🥳. Having two supermarkets within 5 minutes walking was great if you need something. The big church 3 minutes away has a coffee shop that is very good for relaxing in the patio area. There are always scooters and bicycles around to use in front or nearby. Come and enjoy this lovely city! The room has a small hair dryer, a kettle (coffee and tea), a huge tv, and very comfortable bed/sheets and towels. They offer liquid soap/shampoo in the shower and sink.

This is a comfortable hotel in a quiet neighborhood, and it was ideally located for us, since we traveled to Stockholm without a car. We landed at Stockholm Arlanda Airport on August 25th and took the Arlanda Express train (see separate review) to Stockholm Central Station, where we transferred to the city’s T-Bana (subway system) and rode Line 13 just one stop to the Östermalmstorg station, where we had a short and easy walk to the hotel. Helpful hint: when you exit the T-bana at Östermalmstorg, take the exit marked “Sibyllegatan,” which is the street closest to the hotel. If you take other exits, you might end up with quite a long walk around several city blocks. We arrived at the hotel at 11AM, well before the 3PM check-in time, but we were warmly welcomed by a kind and friendly woman named Gunilla, who checked us in, stored our bags in a secure room off the lobby, and invited us to relax and have a coffee until our room was ready. The coffee machine in the lobby is available to guests all the time and also supplies the coffee and hot water for the breakfasts and evening meals. It is a digital wonder which serves up the most delicious, robust, freshly-ground coffee we have ever had. We had booked a superior twin room with a “French” balcony, meaning that we had a balcony railing which overlooked the street but no actual balcony platform to step out onto. Two French doors opened onto this railing, and we kept those doors open at night to enjoy the fresh air. During our stay, the weather in Stockholm was sunny and warm, with cool evenings, and since the street outside the hotel was very quiet at night (and we were one floor above the street), we slept comfortably and securely, never disturbed by outside noise. Our room (106) was quite large, with comfortable beds, a desk, a storage unit with an electric kettle and coffee-making items, and a flat-screen TV. The bathroom was modern and spacious, and even though we had to step into a tub to use the shower, we had good water pressure and plenty of hot water as well as plush towels that were changed out every day by the housekeeping staff. In front of our windows and French doors was a sort of sitting area with an upholstered sofa, an upholstered easy chair and ottoman, and a glass-top table. This was a comfortable place to sit and read in the evening. The breakfast, included in the room rate, was a beautiful spread of eggs, sausages, meatballs, fish, fruit, cheeses, juices, and breads, all of which were prepared by a smiling staff in an open kitchen right behind the buffet. Every afternoon, guests can enjoy “fika,” a traditional Swedish midday snack of coffee and baked goods, served in the lobby and breakfast area. The hotel also offers guests a complimentary evening meal, served buffet-style in the breakfast area, with a variety of well-prepared salads, soups, and casseroles. We opted for this evening meal each night, rather than walk to a restaurant. Our room rate for two night

very good. Checking in at the active moment of the Swedish tourist event can be said to reflect a different style. It was stipulated to check in at 3:00 pm, but I arrived at the front desk at 8 am. The front desk said the room was vacant and could be checked in, which was directly equivalent to letting me check in half a day in advance. The rooms are small, typical European hotels, but in good hygiene. Checking out is simple and convenient, just ask me if I have any other consumption and check out directly. The breakfast was rich and delicious, and it seemed that everyone included breakfast, so no one checked. Various fitness settings are also very complete.

GGuest UserThe location is excellent, shopping and sightseeing are within walking distance; the room design has many details, the bedside table has exquisite hydroponic flowers, the bath is diptyque, and the breakfast is even more exquisite. The overall design is very Western-style, but not old-fashioned at all.
Wonderful stay in a beautiful hotel bang in the middle of Östermalm (Stockholm’s poshest area). Our hotel room wasn’t huge but perfectly adequate size-wise. Stunning marbled bathroom, proper hair dryer and Cowshed products. Comfortable bed with plenty of pillows (three each). Well stocked minibar and coffee machine. It lacked a kettle so had to ask for tea pots from the bar. The room was on the top floor facing the back which meant it was very quiet. I would definitely return.
GGuest UserWhen we first read the other reviews I thought there is no way this place is that good! My Wife and I were pleasantly surprised! This place is wonderful! The Staff was top notch, A special mention to so some of the front desk service, Emma Kevin and Moa! The rooms were clean , a good size and the Air conditioning worked very well. Since it was in the high 20s when we there there it was very appreciated. The bathroom was roomy with a big skylight and a big walk in shower with a rainfall shower head along with the standard one, Also the complimentary soaps were luxurious and had a wonderful aroma, Two small downsides The blackout curtains in the room were inadequate and let a lot of light into the room . We were there during the longest days of the year. Also the faucet for the sink was a waterfall type with an open area on top, It looked nice but considering people brush their teeth there and wash there hands it seems a bit unhygienic for drinking water, The restaurant had good food and it was reasonably priced. A special mention to Pernilla the hostess who found a table for us even though it was a busy night and we did not have a reservation, A breakfast buffet with everything including breads and rolls that were delicious . Last but certainly not least is the location of the hotel. It is set in a Museum Park overlooking the Fjord with some truly stunning views. It is also within walking distance of many of the great attractions in Stockholm. And right on the bus line if you do not want to walk. A true gem. Thank you for a wonderful stay! My wife and I will be back!
TTim COverall good, but a bit of a mixed bag. On the good side, it is in the same building as the ABBA museum so a lot of ABBA theming and links (I assume that is the reason most people book here!). The breakfast was really excellent - a huge range of choices and the cooked element was served speedily. All delicious. We had the Terrace Suite which was not much more expensive than the next level of room, and was a large and comfortable room with a separate seating area, and as you might expect, a terrace on 2 sides. Transport into the centre is very easy by ferry or tram - 10 minutes either way. On the not so good side, when we arrived there were no towels and 3 clothes hangers. They did rectify this quickly, to be fair. The hotel is literally next door to Grona Lund, a theme park. Now, if you do any research in advance, you will know this, and the screeching and screaming did not really affect us as it is, of course, closed at night. But being next to Grona Lund does impact the tram and ferry, which can get incredibly busy. Potentially more annoying was the noise from the sister hotel - Hasselbacken - across the road. There, they did have loud music till late, though the soundproofing in the room was pretty good. Final point is that whilst the hotel has several bars and restaurants, arriving back at 10pm after having been out for dinner, everything is closed, so getting a glass of wine, should you want one, is not easy.
GGuest UserI always stay at Diplomat when I am in Stockholm. The welcome is very professional, the rooms are clean, the breakfast is excellent and the restaurant offers a wide ranging menu. Ill be back.
TTerenceLocation is bit far to center, but the transportation is fairly convenient.
Staff is kind. Good price level for sightseeing the city for a week.
GGuest UserThe room is small but fully furnished, clean and tidy
Breakfast is good, salmon is made casually
It was winter when I went to eat on the fireplace.
The experience is very good, the staff is very nice
GGuest UserOur toilet stunk like urine so we were able to change to a different room instantly. The receptionist handled our issue promptly and was very nice. Then, the next day I ate some moldy chia pudding and only noticed it after a while wondering about the strange taste. Normally, their buffet should be fine. I guess this was only due to a small number of guests cuz of Covid 19. The rest of the breakfast was fine though. The hotel itself is nice, too.
MMats BackmanVery friendly staff. Nice room, very comfortable bed. Bathroom also good. Hotel situaded very central for my needs and near the harbour, from where I had to go by boat next morning. The street was a little like a backstreet, although central, with not the full rush and pulse like in many other streets. Very silent at night, you could sleep without hearing noises from outside.
