There is much that has been written about this resort, and in many ways it is very good. The staff are excellent, the service, the food, the resort facilities in general are all very good. But when there is one massive fail, sadly, everything else pales into insignificance. TRAFFIC NOISE. This resort is just 200m across a rice paddy field from the major coast highway, which is under heave traffic 18 hours a day. The very tasteful yoga platform is an open air space on the 2nd floor. It has grand views of the highway. The first and only yoga session we attended was drowned out by almost constant police traffic patrol sirens. Eventually, as we could only barely hear the yoga teacher saying things like “find your inner peace”, my wife was just laughing. The resort may as well be next to a major city's main road. It was just horrendous. The feeder road from the highway to the resort, is also the main road to the nearby town. It is traversed by motorcycle cars and trucks all day and night. Sleep was an illusion. The dull low pitched throb of heavy traffic is sickening after a while. The noisy higher pitched of motorcycles as they accelerate away from the gates of the resort is soul destroying. DOCTORED PHOTO. There is just one drone photograph of the resort and surrounds. All other photos are closeups and do not hint at the real environment surrounding the resort. This drone photo is severely photoshopped. it cuts out the feeder road, it takes out the highway, and it gives the impression they are in a peaceful and quiet place next to beaches. It is a GREAT LIE. And it as this photograph that convinced my wife that this would be a peaceful place. We believe they have since removed that photo from their website, after our complaint and request for refund. I include it here. LIES. They claim on their website that the resort is PEACEFUL, IDYLLIC, TRANQUIL. It is not. We opted to arrive a day early, at the resort’s invitation. and so we arrived about 9pm, got to bed sometime after 10pm. They knew, but DID NOT ADVISE US, that there was a local event on at 5am the next morning (Sunday). At first I thought it was a Punjabi Rave party next door or something. It turns out, an organised marathon began with extraordinary loud dance music, about 400m away. Bright lights, loud thumping music, went on for about 90 minutes. They could have told us it was happening. They could have said “don’t come on the extra night because of the marathon”. But no, they happily took our money. RATS. After the music stopped, the rats in the ceiling of our room began scurrying about. Then we noticed the stains of rat excrement and urine seeping through the ceiling above the bed. I noticed the smell of rats as we first arrived at the door of our room. But I didn’t say anything at that time. We advised after the first yoga class, that we would be leaving, and explained why. We were offered another room at their other resort, but they did not seem to listen our complaint was abo

This is a really beautiful location and the staff are lovely. The retreat I attended included a lovely group of people and the food was also lovely. The only downside is the traffic noise, which isn't such an issue for me because I live next to a busy road, but there were other guests that didn't cope so well. There was a lovely couple that left the retreat early. I found out later that he was an RFS volunteer and that the siren noises reminded him of fighting the big fires. I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to thank him for his service. You, Sir, are a hero. There was some complaining from other people too, but in the end we made the best of it and I think people figured out how to filter out the noise. The hosts were apologetic about it. They were from Australia and said they thought it would be quieter. If you do go, please know that the resort is on the only side road that leads to the Sukawati town, which is a good sized town, so expect plenty of cars, buses and motorbikes. The only main road up the East Coast of the island is also within ear shot. I take ear plugs when I travel and recommend them and even though there is road noise I think this resort is worth the visit because it has so much going for it. I think if you come here knowing about the noise you'll be fine with it. Definitely have one of the traditional Balinese massages at this resort. So good! Also there was a trip to visit local artisans and while the prices seemed a bit exey the stuff they were selling was high quality and not your usual tourist rubbish. They have a real interest to the "eco" in their name and have water coolers instead of bottled water, refillable soap/shampoo/conditioner and cloth napkins. I guess when we all fly here that's probably helping to lessen the impact. There was a beautiful traditional purification ceremony and they teach you how to make the little offerings they put out everyday. These do seem to attract rats, but hey, it's Bali and you'll get rats no matter where you go. What's really special about this place is the building which has lots of bamboo and timber, and really beautiful round rooms. Read the room guide which has all kinds of stuff in it about their values and all of the great things they have done. They help to support a local school. How good is that! The yoga room is up high with good breezes and they say they built it here to avoid mosquitoes. I didn't see a mosquito the whole time I was here so that was great too.

The most beautiful people that make you feel like home the moment you get there, with positive energy and the most attentive attitude. Absolutely grateful for experiencing this and recommend it to anyone who wants to reconnect with themselves and immerse in Balinese culture. The best vegetarian food I ever had was at Floating Leaf, each meal was a feast and the chef and the entire team were amazing. Sukhma, Gus, Dara, Kadek, Eka and everyone else are super awesome and amazing people. I felt like I had a family who would constantly care about my wellbeing and I’m Extremely grateful for that ❤️

I lead retreats all over the globe and Floating Leaf was definitely a STAND OUT! The staff helped immensely and had everything under control. They helped us plan our yoga retreats and accommodated any request they could. Our excursions were a perfect blend of culture, shopping, nature and FUN! We also had a perfect amount of 'downtime' for massages, the pool, or free-time excursions (the beach clubs were great!). The yoga space is huge and well appointed. The food is AMAZING. Sukma and Gus were standouts, but the entire staff was just terrific. We had a blast. (The only suggestion is that if you are particular about your hair care products, go ahead and bring your own shampoo and conditioner.) Bali is SUPER far away from the USA Midwest, but perhaps we'll be able to visit again one day.

What an amazing experience! I attended a retreat here four years ago. It was life changing for me. This year I decided to host my own, and wanted to return to Floating Leaf. I arrived a couple days early and was greeted with hugs, smiles, and "MJ! Welcome back!" I can't express my gratitude enough for the help received in planning. The communication was consistent from the day I inquired about availability. From the kind recommendations on my itinerary, the safe and easy transport, to the always accommodating staff....everything turned out just as it should. The love from the staff is so incredibly genuine! The rooms are comfortable and all have a great view. The food is lovingly prepared with attention to dietary restrictions. The staff members quickly became our friends! My heart is so full. Looking forward to Where Friends Gather part two sometime in the near future. Floating Leaf family, I love you all so much. MATUR SUKSMA! With gratitude, MJ

I co-led two back to back yoga retreats at Floating Leaf and loved every minute of it. From the moment you walk in, the staff treats you like family. Sukma, Gus, Eka, Gadek (sp), Gede and the rest of the staff were amazing. The food was delicious and healthy, our excursions went smoothly and the MASSAGES! Wonderful!!! If you are retreat leader, I highly recommend you choose Floating Leaf.

I wish I could give 10 stars. I spent 6 peaceful, restorative and incredible nights at Floating Leaf Eco-Luxury Retreat while participating in a retreat with friends. The room I stayed in "Uluwatu" was so beautiful! It had the most beautiful view, I slept so well in the comfy bed and clean well kept room. The yoga shala truly floats above the rice fields and provides an unmatched space for meditation. The food is incredible! The chef prepares every dish with care and love, I have never eaten better in my life! It was the staff there though that made this retreat life changing for me. They are the kindest people, always there to make you feel at home, cared for and loved. I look forward to returning one day to Floating Leaf and I know when I do they will welcome me with open arms.

Walk in and float out. The retreat lives upto it's tagline. We entered into the retreat exhausted after 11 hours in flight from India and some luggage trouble thanks to vietjet. But the moment we entered, the energy of the place made us feel very relaxed. Three days in floated leaf brought with it immense sense of peace, in hindi we call it sukoon. Working with the healers was very helpful, sound therapy experience with putu maria was quite insightful. After three days there, we went to a five star stay in kuta but floating leaf was probably one of the most memorable experience for us. Anybody looking for a soulful reflective peaceful stay in bali, this is one of the best place!

The most extraordinary experience of a lifetime. Floating Leaf hosted our group and created the best suggestions for our itinerary with kind knowledgeable staff. It felt like we were extended family. The yoga shala is spectacular with views of sunrise and sunset over the rice fields. If they have an opening, stay here!
