We stayed on a girlie night just after Christmas, we had purchased the spa package deal, on arrival at the hotel we found the receptionist not very friendly and a bit abrupt. The spa experience was OK, the treatment itself was lovely but none of the massage jets where working in the pool and we found the place very dated and not much to do in it, so didn't spend much time there was very disappointing. Left there and tried to check in early at 2:30pm but was abruptly and rudely told to come back at 4pm(this was a different receptionists). We knew check in was at 4pm but some hotels let you check in earlier, there was no need to be rude about it. We then went to the bar for lunch. We waited about 10 minutes before a girl came to take our order, even though we hadn't even been given any menus, waitress wasnt really listening taking our order so it was slightly wrong when we got it, We didn't complain that our order was wrong because we didnt see the point. The experience didnt get any better apart from the waiter that served us the food, with a welcoming hello and smile. We where served by atleast 6 different waitresses all where unfriendly, unhelpful and didn't seem to know what they where doing and didn't seem to want to be there. Needless to say we didn't go back near the bar for the rest of our stay. Back to reception to check in and again staff weren't very friendly and where abit abrupt. Rooms where lovely and comfortable, basic but no complaints there. We got ajoining rooms as requested but the doors where locked, didn't bother asking for key as didnt want to go to reception again. We went to Frederick's restaurant for dinner that evening and couldn't fault it. We where served by all waiters and they where all so friendly, welcoming and helpful and the food was delicious also. Shame they weren't working in the bar earlier that day. Breakfast was fine, just the usual buffet, food wasn't very hot again staff weren't very friendly or helpful and we had to wait quite a while to get a cup of tea which I had to go find a waitress to get us, again not very helpful. Checking out again receptionist wasn't very friendly, called "hello, hello" to me twice as i didnt hear her the first time which i thought was quiet rude, she asked all the usual questions but without any smiles or pleasantries, We had afternoon tea before we left and it was lovely and the girl serving us was so nice, smiling, happy, helpful and chatty. Thanks to her we ended the stay on a good note. Overall I wouldn't stay here again and definitely won't be recommending it to friends and family. One of the girls with me actually said "well I know where I'm not getting married". Frederick's restaurant and afternoon tea saved this trip. The reception staff did oblige us in changing our dinner and afternoon tea times but neither was done in a pleasant manner, which is a shame as they are the 1st people you meet when arriving at a hotel. We have stayed at nicer 2 and 3 start ho

Beautiful hotel, rooms are spotless however could be updated and add smart tv’s with Netflix etc for all phone types to connect and not just androids. Bar is fab! spa was amazing! I got a facial and the relaxed in the spa after. Man on reception was so polite and seemed like he genuinely loved the job. Only negative experience of the stay was noisy group of women next door shouting and banging doors at 1am until about 3:30am waking us up from our sleep, but this was out of the hotel staff’s control. Breakfast could have been better the selection of food was brilliant better than most hotels however the taste needs improving. Overall, it was a great hotel, and I wish I could have stayed longer, with small future improvements it could be perfect.

Just back from 2 night stay for new year. First and foremost check in is when it all matters to me ! I can gauge how my stay is going to go with it! The receptionist was so rude and dismissive I thought maybe she’s under pressure. That was fine when we arrived on NYE it was lashing rain and the floors were wet obviously. A wedding had arrived during this and a member of the wedding went to walk to the reception desk and she literally screamed at him . I said to my partner I’m really regretting coming here! Had dinner in Frederick’s that evening cannot fault the staff each and everyone of them where so so nice and accommodating nothing was too much. New Year’s Day headed for a walk into Tullow and back day 2 of the wedding in the bar which was fine until it wasn’t ! Kept awake all night by some hysterical woman in the room beside us when finally I had enough after waking my daughter at 5.30am . I rang reception just sorry I hadn’t done it sooner! The kids from the wedding were feral but looking at the adults with them I wasn’t shocked! Even at breakfast time they had no manners just thought they owned the place! We work very hard all year round and so looking forward to this trip! I am so disappointed, even my 5 year old said she was glad to be home!

On paper Mount Wolseley has all the trappings of a luxury resort, but it's just underwhelming, a bit jaded and too busy to care (the cut n paste responses to every online review are indicative of the management attitude to customer satisfaction). It's a very busy hotel, they can accommodate multiple functions, weddings etc, but on a large family break for New Year's we found ourselves having to sit in the lobby after dinner in the restaurant, waiting to be allowed to use the bar.....as hotel residents, despite there being multiple unoccupied tables in the bar (which all had reserved signs but weren't actually subject to bookings), we couldn't get seated unless we were eating. It summed up the customer experience for me and the attitude towards guests. Not welcomed, not facilitated. Dinner was better than I'd expected, as breakfast had set a pretty low bar. A hotel breakfast is the true test of a venue for me and it was disappointing. The hot food area is unmanned, cramped and poorly planned, with big awkward plastic lids on serving trays and nowhere to place them while serving, which made the process slow. The food itself was alright, cheap catering sausages and fried eggs which were like rubber even as they emerged from the kitchen. Like most decent 4 star restaurants they had a charcuterie offering, but it was pretty poor, even the sliced cheese had dried corners. The pastry selection was routine, but fresh and kept well stocked. Likewise the fruit selection, it was all there, bowls of yogurt too, but it was just uninspiring and summed up by the orange juice, very much from concentrate. All in all it felt like a BnB breakfast in conference center surroundings. The rooms are comfortable, the bed reasonably so. It doesn't feel luxurious, but you wouldn't complain about it. Bathroom was clean, shower was lovely. There were no facecloths, but the housekeeping lady provided a couple when I mentioned it next morning. The hotel is a manageable and safe walk from Tullow, just over 1km away, for a change of scenery, alternative dining options and a much better pint of Guinness. The Leisure center is busy, the pool popular with the kids, the gym is also a public facility and some equipment could do with updating, but it's ok, it has a selection of weight and cardio machines, plus free weights. I was disappointed to find the sauna out of service and apparently had been since before Christmas. The steam room was equally small and a bit lacking in steam, while the Jacuzzi sits about six people at close quarters. For a resort as large and busy as this, also used by non resident members, the spa facilities are tiny and while they may be functional (when actually functioning), they're far from luxurious or relaxing. I found the staff friendly, towels were provided and the girl at the desk lent me a euro to use the lockers in the changing room. I found the junior staff were all very friendly and engaging, except in the bar where floor staff seem too s

Stayed three nights...new years package...normally never write reviews..compelled to write this..l'm in the hotel as l write this on our last night. Pros.. Breakfast great Services in all areas great Hotel....cold...jackets on all the time Tired decor Sat beside an open door on new years eve with draft..twice asked to be moved...same thing happened on our second night If you don't have a " package " for your stay...the restaurant is way over priced...no atmosphere and below par food quality for the prices charged. We met a couple at Breakfast this morning who were so tired of food quality after two days..they packed their 6 month old into the car when it was zero degrees outside to go to the local town in Carlow for a meal which was delicious...and better value...we did the same this evening....

Mount Wolseley Hotel is such a great spot for a special getaway! The bar staff were absolutely brilliant – so friendly and on the ball. A big shoutout to Sinead at reception, who went out of her way to make this birthday trip extra special. She was so lovely and thoughtful, and it really made the visit unforgettable. Can’t recommend it enough for a relaxing and fun stay!
