500 Rai Floating Resort

Every staff speaks good English, very nice. The environment is extremely amazing. There forces you to put down your phone enjoy your holiday because there has no signal at all. But in the resort providing WiFi (not free). We definitely will go there again

They didn’t respond to my email about how to get to the hotel, had to figure it out on my own. Don’t respond to social media messages either which is a shame. The place is hard to get to. The food was alright. But the view makes up for all of the above.

If you're a frequent traveller to luxury resorts, you're likely to be a little disappointed by the infrastructure at 500 Rai. The resort is getting older and could do with a refresh. However, as your stay there unfolds, you realise that what you're paying for is the experience. Khao Sok is otherworldly and 500 Rai is located at the edge of an open section of the lake with stunning morning views (and sunrises if you're lucky) over the distant jungle peaks. It's one of the furthest resorts from the lake pier which means you get great sightseeing trips through the most dramatic parts of the lake on the way there and back. The welcome is warm and genuine, the service lovely and the atmosphere calm, unlike some other resorts we passed where guests were blaring out loud music from their rooms, drowning out the sounds of the gibbons calling, the water lapping and the birds calling. Why?! The morning lake trips and evening wildlife safaris at 500 Rai are wonderful and the day trip to Pakarang Cave simply unforgettable, helped by the most glorious weather that made all the colours sing. Thank you to Sunny for being such a fabulous guide! The food at the resort is good (but could be better) and the choice is generous, the beds are comfortable and the swimming pool a novelty (great for kids) although the lake swimming is just as much fun. Would we go again? Without the resort being updated, probably not but we had a wonderful time in the park and are very glad we went. We also want to thank the team at 500 Rai for their flexibility when our friends had to cancel their trip to Thailand - it was much appreciated.

Loved this place! Besides the stunning view, I think what stood at the most was the wonderful staff! Welcomed us from a stormy boat ride with fluffy towels and hot tea. Very welcoming to a solo traveler - they even played cards with me and helped me arrange onward transport. A really peaceful experience and great to switch of and reconnect with yourself and nature. The kayak is free to use whenever you like - took myself exploring the local area by kayak, which was beautiful and spotted some wildlife. Would recommend!

Wonderful location with great guides. The cave trip was amazing and our guide Sunny was really knowledgable and interesting. The boat safaris were great fun so keep your eyes pealed for the moneys and birds. We don’t see an elephant but maybe next time.
