Dreams Dominicus la Romana - All Inclusive

Dominicus|0.49km from Public Beach Playa Dominicus
The Dreams Dominicus La Romana was luxurious and the customer service was superb! Without question, it was our best family vacation. We traveled with two children (ages 11 and 9) and the Grandmother (age 79) and all of us really enjoyed it. I highly recommend paying for the Preferred Club. The preferred club beach area and restaurant were excellent as well as the kids club and Coco Cafe. Armando was our family concierge for the week. He was phenomenal and made our family feel at home from check-in. Armando was very responsive, he promptly scheduled dinner reservations for us and was very helpful assisting us to coordinate transportation arrangements from the airport. Armando even showed up in person to ensure our Spa reservations were made as planned. The Dreams offers quick golf cart transportation to and from the family areas of the resort to the beach and main pool areas. Providing this service was critical for elderly guests. Samuel Nunes from the bell-boy team was exceptional. He always took extra time to help our elderly Grandmother with transportation. My family also took advantage of the Spanish lessons offered by Bella. Bella is an excellent instructor with a great attitude and she really got my wife and kids interested in Spanish throughout the week. The Dreams also distinguished itself in safety of the guests. During our stay, I witnessed a lifeguard (Mr. Cleivi Garcias) dive in and save the life of a drowning minor at the family pool. His actions were simply heroic and gave me the confidence and reassurance I needed traveling with children that we were in a safe environment. We had a spacious family suite with an adjoining room. The rooms were modern and updated and Armando always made sure our bar was well stocked! Thank you, Dreams for an amazing family vacation!

Sunscape Dominicus la Romana - All Inclusive

Dominicus|0.46km from Public Beach Playa Dominicus
Rooms are getting old, as most of the infrastructure, including some security issues (rotten emergency staircase that can't be accessed, electric installation that has exposed surfaced, slippy alleys, ...). Direction seems to be lost and staff, despite very friendly, is not as helpful as most of the older reviews are mentioning. Our luggage were left in the lobby when bringing us to the room, telephone is not working in room, free wifi is limited to 300kbps, just enough for emails and WhatsApp and our WiFi account was not activated at check-in. There are three different animation teams in the hotel, with different timings and it is far from clear from the information that we received during the check-in who is doing what, when and accessible to guests. The hotel animation team barely speaks other languages than Spanish, Italian and English, and they are not welcoming and involving guests. They seems to be more interested on their smart phones and on the single guests. On the other hand, the animation team (Claire, Sabri and Oscar) from FRAM, a French tour operator, is awesome and welcoming, regardless of the language. ”Show time” is happening in a theater with the necessity to have earplugs, as the sound is FAR too high and very bad. Food is very average, very international, like the one that one would get in Sweden, Spain, USA, Italy or France. No food that can really make you understand/feel that you are in Dominican Republican, except on Friday, but no specific signage to announce the type of food that will be served for dinner. ”A la carte” restaurants are difficult to book and only the Japanese one is worth, even not real Japanese, but more the vision that Americans have of the Japanese food. Nexus Tour operator (our local tour operator) is also completely missing, leading to an additional level of questioning with regards to the ”experience” that we are supposed to have in this hotel. Nexus sells this hotel has part of their lower case package as they directly own other hotels in the area. Very good point (one of the very few) is that there are a lot of free animals on site, making it an active part of the natural reserve that is around the hotel. After two years of pandemic, with an hotel that is half filled, we were really expecting another level of attention and of experience for the price that we paid. Many guests were also complaining, but this doesn't seems to change anything.

Aparta-Hotel Villa Baya

The hotel is super central in the place. All you need is reachable in 5min (the place is not so large in itself) The checkin has worked super fix and the two booked rooms were also as shown in the pictures. Rooms work through the floor and furniture quite dark, but let nothing miss. Daily we were asked whether we wanted to clean the rooms. Owner José was a supporter and helped with all questions. When I come to this hotel, I'd like to come back to this hotel. Theme ”Noise”: whoever travels to the Dominican Republic will soon realize that the Dominicans like a little more loud. So here too. Not every evening, but always plays sound music and the sound motorcycles drive through the small streets. But this theme has nothing changed in the cozy atmosphere of the hotel. It is a ”usuality” that you find in many places. The only preaching of the church on Monday evening, which was to hear up to 23Uhr throughout the place, was new to me.
Whala! Bayahibe

We visited this beautiful resort Hm Alma de Bayahibe in La Romana Dominican Republic in mid April. It’s actually located in Bayahíbe. It is a beautiful resort, very small and quiet. If you want to party or want a happening resort I recommend go somewhere else. I read a lot of negative reviews and I believe everyone has their own opinion, personally we had no issues while we stayed here. There are three beautiful salt water pools over looking the ocean. One fresh water pool. The hot tub is whirlpool tub essentially. It’s not hot and doesn’t need to be either. The weather is hot enough. The food is wonderful. 3 ala carte fine dining Mexican, Italian and international. Two restaurants alternate between Mexican and international every other day. Booking around 7:00 pm ish in April was awesome as you can see sunset. It’s beautiful both restaurants are by the beach. Buffet is delicious as well, as everyday there’s new food and lots for options vegetarians or non-pork eaters. There are 2 bars that serve excellent drinks. Mocktails are exceptional as well. The room is very spacious and modern up to date. Few key things for the locker/safe you have to pay $3/day but we showed the time of purchase of our trip it was included in Sunwing. So read fine print in your reservation. Bring your own beach towels or pay a deposit for it and you get your money back on check out. Bring your tissue box for your room. This isn’t a beachfront property but the beach is 10 min complementary shuttle ride. The beach isn’t like Cuba but honestly it’s pristine per DR standards. You do have to pay $15 for umbrellas and $10 USD for palapas which is ridiculous. Good place for buying your souvenirs at the beach. Animation team at resort put on a show every day and they work very hard to keep you entertained. We had a lot of fun. We personally had a wonderful stay. No complaints and the people we met there also seem to enjoy themselves. But if you are looking for a large resort go somewhere else. Btw this is a wheelchair accessible facility. Every building has an elevator in working condition. I recommend booking at least a partial ocean view room.

Catalonia Royal la Romana Adults Only - All Inclusive

I booked 12 nights here for my wife and I. We both had a great time. The choice restaurants was good. Bookings them via the app was quite straightforward. The beach was beautiful. The staff were friendly and helpful, particularly Mariolos. The only negative was booking through TUI. The TUI rep didn't appear for the duration of our stay. The transfer from the airport was badly organised. But I must stress the hotel/resort was fantastic. If you plan to Scuba Dive I would recommend Dressel Divers 200 metres down the beach.
