Apartamentos Doramar

A great budget place to stay in an ideal location.

We booked a late deal, we were all very happy with Doramar. It is very centrally located and the beach is only a very short walk, though it is on an incline. Our room was very clean; they changed linen etc half way through our week stay. Rooms have a microwave, hob, fridge with ice box and basic gadgets. We like doing a bit of self catering as we are a tight budget. However, when we did eat at the hotel it was very good value for money and very tasty - the coffee was wonderful. Better than a lot of places we went to! We didn't notice any of the noise from karaoke that other reviews mentioned, but we were on the 5th floor. The shower was hot and powerful and this is one of my standards, which it passed! The hotel staff were always helpful when we queried anything. The WiFi was free, the air con worked well. The pool was just a nice size. There weren't enough sunloungers, but they are much cheaper than the 14€ on the beach. They could do with a better system as people would reserve them and not show up for hours - perhaps do them on 3 hour slots?? Our only complaint was that the mattresses were very hard, the pillows were fine but we woke up with aches and pains. Otherwise it was a great little budget hotel. We would stay there again.

On arrival got ripped off with the price. Sister pressed wrong button on the card machine and got charged an extra £50. Complained and asked for a refund to repay correctly, they refused. Sheets were not changed the whole week. There was big hairs in the toilet area and shower. So was not clean. There were blood marks on the sheets after a few days so something was definitely eating me during the night. See pics for the state if the appartment. Burn marks and damage everywhere. Got charged £619 for the week. What a rip off Even if you have the appartment they want 3 euros a day for the sun loungers at the pool even if you buy drinks.. what a joke.. I will never be back here again. Reception staff are unhelpful and dismissive. You need to also take your own rubbish to the bins down the street.

Ok for somewhere to put your head of a night. The bar seems to own the pool and seating area, if u didn't pay for the sunbeds u could only sit at the tables if u were ordering drinks. No balcony on any of the rooms. You had to bring out your own rubbish to a massive bin around the corner from the hotel when you check out and no cleaning of the rooms or anything. Glad we were only there for 3 nights. Supposed to be nightly entertainment in the bar but there was only one night of karaoke. The next 2 nights were dead in there. Decent enough bar/restaurant next door which was about the only plus I can think of.

I stayed at the Doramar Appartments between 18th April and 245th 2013. This was my 2nd time here. I returned because of the price and central location and last time was good. This time it was also good. It is basic but has all you need. It is close to the very reliable bus service. No problem taking a public bus from the airport. If you prefer the quieter bars then go up the hill to Bonanza Square. You will find several bars with outdoor terraces and the prices are real good. Try the Euro bar, pints a€1, yes true €1 and La Ibensa, El Nido and Dec,s bar. Also just a little away be sure to call to The Beer Garden, the best local anywhere. I avoided 24 hour square, too expensive and loud. If you are self catering there is a good supermarket just down the hill and over to left on main street, further on past 24 hour square the is a Lidl store, handy for sun lotion and cheap wine and drink. One thing against Doramar, the towels are not changed and you pay €3 for replacements. Also buy loo paper. The reception staff are helpful Manual, Thomas and 2 ladies. There is free wifi at reception and the bar. I will stay there again when in Benalmadena.

Arrived 4 th July.. Quick check in.. Found a nice clean apartment.. Had everything we needed..u must look after and clean apartment .. No towel change unless u ask and pay €3.. No toilet roll u have to buy ur own.. Bar on 1st floor nice clean u can have breakfast and lunch here karaoke st night time... Bar also looks after the pool area €2 for sun bed bit as long as usable ur towel on the bed its its all day.. Quite and busy times at pool. Overall we loved it..

This apartment style hotel is in a great location and this and the price were my reason for booking. The rooms are by any standard basic and tired with chipped worn furniture but you are paying for a basic room and so this is fair. There are no balconies at all which is a disadvantage and I didnt realise on booking but if you read the whole description on the hotels own page it is mentioned. The real major issue is live music I.E Karaoke or a singer in the basement 7 night a week until 1am. This nightclub was directly connected to my floor by an openstairwell with no door at all seperating it. I'm no kill joy but with shouting drunks until at least 1.30 and two selfish girls laughing and pmaying spanish music in the next room from 6.30 each morning , this made my stay extremely stresful and unpleasent. It was genuinely only possible to sleep for around 4 hours per night. The walls were so thin that you could hear next door usung the toilet each morning which is also rather unpleasent. One morning at 01.30 I went downstairs to ask for my neigbbours to be spoken too and a woman was complaining of her neighbours urinating under their front door and laughing about it. I would never stay there again at any price.
