Let me start with the positive. It’s a beautiful hotel that is very minimalism and I stayed in a loft terrace room which was spacious and comfortable and had a great view of the city. In addition as a Titanium member they offered me an upgrade to a suite but as it didn’t have a view I decided against it. Now for the staff and management. I had a charge added to my bar tab that I did not authorise and a valet charge added when I did not valet park. Two staff members here were dishonest and the management, both front office and director of sales seem to think that this is acceptable and did not apologise. They did refund me those charges. And give me back the resort fee. But they told me there was no wrong doing happening at the hotel. I am of the opinion that if someone in the bar adds a service tip that was not authorised that this is fraud. It was a purposeful and deliberate act with the expectation that I would not notice. And clearly an understanding that the management would let it slide. I have spent over 80 nights in Marriott hotels this year, including more expensive brands than this hotel and I’ve had better experiences and better management. Any hotel that allows employees to commit fraud and says no wrong doing happened and does NOT apologise should be investigated and anyone who stays at this hotel should be weary. I’d strongly advise double checking your folio when you leave the hotel. I’m very, very disappointed with this hotel management and Marriott. Be warned.

The hotel has 3-4 floors, and the pool view is pretty.
The room was spacious enough and the king size bed was comfortable.
However, there was a lot of musty smell in the hotel.
And when I shower, the water doesn't drain quickly.
There are many good hotels around the location, so I went to another hotel for breakfast.

My experience was very great! This was my first ever solo trip and my first stay at a hostel. The staff was very accommodating and the room was very clean, the bed was very comfortable and I loved the amenities that you get with the room. For a cheap price you get a lot more than just a dorm. You get things like a outdoor common area, a very nice kitchen, indoor common areas and sometimes events like comedy night, and a free breakfast every morning. This hostel is in a really good location for the area. It’s not too far from the beach and the pier and you’re very close to the public transportation. I met some really cool people at this place traveling from all over and we all hung out and had a good time.
Venice is different. Sure its California but its an area of California unlike any other an area that Hotel ERWIN has personified since the 70s with its eclectic decor friendly staff and predominant location right on Venice Beach and adjacent to the world famous Venice Beach Boardwalk. From day one Hotel ERWIN has offered guests an experience that could not be found anywhere else and now decades later the hotel is still a go to hotspot for locals out of towners and SoCal day trippers.

Nice hotel, delicious vegetarian breakfast, you can take it with you. Parking at the hotel is paid, we parked on the next street. No pool, but you can see the ocean from the window. Some rooms overlook garbage containers, but they have the best view of the ocean)))

There is no sense of security in the neighborhood.
Very small lobby, not the concept of the domestic Ritz-Carlton, it seems that the apartment lobby, there is no service, the service such as water has to make a few calls before sending it, I feel that no one is serving the whole hotel.

Could easily be zero stars. Original room was 93 degrees upon check in, the air conditioning unit was poor by anyone's standard, we asked to switch rooms. They did not offer to come get our bags, or move us to a new room so we brought our luggage back down to the front desk. We were then given a second room. Again, no offer made to accompany us and see if the new room was up to standards. This room was 92 degrees upon entry. After a second phone call, they sent up staff to change the filters on the AC unit. That team told us the AC was functioning well and blowing cold air (it was blowing cold air as if you had a few ice cubes in your mouth and blew on my neck) and to use the blackout curtains (after a sort of condescending explanation of what blackout curtains do) and give it some time for the AC to work. We went out to dinner for about two hours and came back to a nice cool 87 degree room. We once again took our belongings back downstairs. We were then told by the front desk staff that since we booked a room with a king size bed all of those rooms faced the sun and would all have similar problems (why would that be an acceptable answer?) and they could do nothing more for us since they accommodated us once already. I had no idea their idea of accommodating someone was to put them in a room with the same problem that the previous room had but what do I know, I am not in the hospitality industry. We were then told that the hotel was completely booked so no further ”accommodations” could be made. We asked for a refund and this is the first time they reacted with some conviction, they were happy to let us leave. Must be nice to be able to turn away business. At no time were there any apologies, any remorse, just matter-of-factly let us leave. My wife and I don't argue or yell, we never feel its worth it, but we left angry and hotel-less on a Saturday night in Los Angeles. We scrambled to find a new hotel but the damage was done, they took our entire Saturday away from us, which no refund could ever compensate for, they temporarily took our joy to be in town on our own as we are parents and do not get much time away. We did take our business elsewhere, to a Hilton, they seem to understand that to relax you need a room that is slightly cooler than a sauna. We were able to salvage the remaining days of our trip. Also the elevators at the Freehand are old (charming?) and constantly in use because of the rooftop bar so it took us waiting for a few packed elevators to get up and down to the hot AF rooms which probably added to our level of frustration. But it was mostly the Sahara like environment of the hot room. Did I mention the rooms were hot? Also maybe use a free hand to open a book on what hospitality looks like, I think your staff may be surprised. (see what I did there?)

2 night stay on August 12-14 during a weekend in Hollywood. Property is located just a couple of minutes from Burbank Airport. Like most airport hotels, the surrounding area is more industrial, but the property is nice with easy access to the freeway. Standard King room. Spacious, nicely redone. Comfortable bed, secured parking if you find a space in the gated courtyard. Standard free hotel breakfast included. Small pool was always in use when we were on property during pool hours. Nice fitness center as well. Just minutes from Warner Brothers Studios, and a quick trip to Hollywood. Once past the airport, beautiful older neighborhoods with small restaurants mixed in with the larger businesses. L.A. area hotels are not cheap, and we did reserve this based on the more budget-friendly (compared to actual Hollywood locations) rates. A solid choice for an area visit.

The best value for money, especially if you are going to Universal Studios. This is a mom-and-pop shop run by a Japanese aunt in Hong Kong. It has a very large space and a safe environment. There is a supermarket within a 3-minute walk. It takes 18 minutes to drive to Universal Studios and 35 minutes to Hollywood. It is also very clean!

Yyuan_yyouI stayed for three nights in total. When I checked in, the front desk asked how many bottles of water I needed and said it was free. I didn't understand at the time, and they said just send two bottles. Because there were a few bottles in the room. As a result, every day after that, there was no water in the room... I had to call the front desk to ask for more water, and they said that if I wanted more water, I would be charged... I don't understand why, if the water was charged later, why didn't they make it clear on the first day?

GGuest UserThose who are looking for a hotel that goes above and beyond, The Peninsula Beverly Hills is the perfect choice. From the minute we walked into the door, the hotel was 5-star in every single aspect. The rooms are beautiful and handy, from the digital tablet that controls all the settings for your room, the printer under the desk, the radio and television, to the continually replenished plate of fresh tangerines on the table, the floral curtain design, and the unique monogrammed pillows that you get to keep. They are spacious and light, thanks to their floor to ceiling windows. The location is convenient, walking distance to Rodeo Dr and other main streets and shops in Beverly Hills. Not to mention that the hotel offers free drop-offs within Beverly Hills, in either their iconic Rolls-Royce Phantom, Cadillacs or BMW limousines, a fantastic way of getting around! The rooftop area is ideal, and you mustn’t miss out on visiting it during your stay. Due to the size of the hotel, it being smaller than the others in Beverly Hills, The Peninsula feels more exclusive, is less busy and it enables the staff to pay more attention to individual guests. The pool, rooftop, gym and spa are all top-notch facilities. The staff are excellent, the building is beautiful, clean and well maintained, the food at breakfast is all one can ask for and the garden and lobby are full of divine, fragrant flowers. Of all the places to stay in central Beverly Hills, nothing comes close to The Peninsula standard, the epitome of luxury. Final Scores: Location - 10 Cleanliness - 10 Comfort - 9 Facilities - 10 Staff - 10 Value for Money - 10 Total - 10/10
AAnonymous UserOne of the most satisfying hotels in Los Angeles, a little-known restaurant on the first floor. The food is amazing. I’ve never been there. I really didn’t know there was such a treasure restaurant hidden here.
The room facilities are good and new. The internet is great and the bed and pillows are very comfortable.
Toiletries need to be requested and not provided proactively.
The room cleaning was very timely and attentive.
The location is great, just off Rodeo Street, a few minutes walk away.
The only drawback is that the floor is low, close to the road, and a bit noisy.

GGuest UserMy wife and I stayed here for a few nights on a baby moon before heading to Palm Springs. Really enjoyed this hotel. The bed was comfortable, we were in a nice Jr. suite with a sitting area, huge marble bathroom, and a great palm tree view. Breakfast was really good - espcially with our status which made it basically free and the location (definitely need a car - it's LA, afterall) felt safe and nice. Downside was that there were 2 events the night we arrived - seemingly schmancy - which made the hotel a bit busier that one might like. That said, no noise made it up to our room, thankfully. Overall, would definitely stay again.
GGuest UserUpscale with a soul to it. Really liked the stay at Avalon. Wasn't chocked by all the design features though but indeed a very good hotel. Feels friendlier and less stiff than similar options in the city to my opinion.
GGuest UserBooked a three night stay here. Two couples. Check in was great. Given a welcome drink on arrival. Rooms were ready. Going up in the elevator it got stuck but we didn't mind cause mum got a fit of the giggles and nearly wet herself. Anyway.. Rooms were modern and smallish in size but had everything we needed. Great shower and coffee making facilities. Had drinks at the bar with other guests which was fun Rodeo drive doesn't bother me. I'm not into wasting tons of money so we went to the Queen Mary in Longbeach instead. Ate once in the restaurant. Food was great. Met many of the staff and they were all friendly and helpful. Met the manager too. He sat with us for a while talking about the hotel etc etc. He was a fun guy. Only thing we didn't like was the noise from the floor above but that was all. Just someone walking back and forward in high heels all night on wooden floor. Hardly the owners fault. Maybe one day he will put thick rugs down. But I wish him well. Hotel is named after his brother so I wish him every success.
I stayed long-term at HDF for 16 weeks from 5-2 - 8/22/2022. I had to check out due to financial issues and the hotel extended a 90-day storage courtesy for my boxes, as I have been in a lengthy transition. When I picked up my items on Day 87 on 10/30/2022 (Sunday), I wasn't too surprised to see several of my luxury items stolen (5 bags, 2 wallets, 2 sunglasses, and even a pair of desk scissors). I was falsely informed by Kathy, the weekend front desk clerk, on 10/22 (Saturday) that there were cameras where my boxes were stored and that nobody was going through them. When I discovered my items were stolen upon pick-up, her guilty body language (several long pauses and avoiding eye contact) was a dead giveaway that she was involved with Gloria, the Central American housekeeper who works on Sundays with her two daughters. It was clear that the theft occurred on a Sunday when both of them were working together, as I know the Saturday housekeeper was not involved and had always been suspicious about Gloria. Most likely the stealing occurred between 10 AM-4 PM on 8/28, as it was the earliest Sunday after my checkout the previous Monday on 8/22 and the hours when both Kathy and Gloria were working. There is no physical evidence, but it is evident that these two thieves were the culprits. After filing a report with the Beverly Hills Police, I spoke with Kathy to clarify the matter about the cameras and she immediately got defensive, knowing she had changed her story about the cameras. I shot back that I know it was her and Gloria who stole my items and she freaked out before hanging up on me. With the stolen items valued at over $6,000 total, this crime is classified as a felony due to it exceeding $5,000 in stolen property. Of course, the hotel maintains that it is not their responsibility that an unjust theft occurred. I was even told by the evening front desk clerk that ”nobody here steals.” Well, it is a fact that two thieves work at this property and have absolutely no qualms about stealing from their guests.
