Edgbaston Birmingham|1.85km from The Redeemed Christian Church of God Testimony Parish
The 5th floor room was quite an experience to behold! Upon entering the wedge-shaped cave, we were met by a strange smell, which receded a little after 24 hours of opening the tiny window onto the concrete central courtyard (the only source of natural light). Cleanliness was a problem, as it was apparent that lamps and switches had not been cleaned for some time. Skirting boards had accumulated considerable amounts of dust. The brownish carpet next to the bed was threadbare and looked dirty. Decor was reminiscent of early 1970s. The beige wallpaper was falling off in places. Wood furniture was of a type that could easily have been picked up from a house clearance after the occupants had died. Ceiling stains from previous water leaks were apparent. Bathroom was that of a poorly installed 1980s design. Of course, shower bracket broken (shower head hassle to be held by hand) and there were brown stains within the bath and tiling. I swear upon using the shower for the first time that the water ran brown, but I could not replicate this later. I hope it was just rust. The toilet paper holder was at least quite humorous - pull the screw out to release the black electrical-taped holder to insert a new roll. This really is a joke. A hotel chain simply shouldn’t regard this as acceptable in 2022. We were offered free drink vouchers as compensation, but the room could not be changed as it was fully booked, due to a health conference - I hope the delegates did not leave more unwell than when they arrived. Positives - staff friendly (and apologetic), nice food, decent Wi-Fi, nice reception and clean bedding and towels.

We stayed here for our anniversary and what a stunning room we had! I loved all the small details added to the room and the bathroom was lovely. I was amazed at the interior of this hotel, it really is stunning! The owner of the hotel is extremely friendly, as are all the staff. We were warmly welcomed into the hotel which was lovely. The hotel is just a short walk into the city centre - we walked down and got an Uber back because it was extremely cold (an Uber from the city centre only cost us £4.50). Breakfast was also included in our hotel stay and this was lovely. They give you a huge choice of what you can have and you can order as much as you like! The breakfast was lovely, gorgeous poached eggs and sausages! We really loved this hotel and will definitely be visiting again!

We stayed here to attend the Magic The Gathering Commandfest event at Edgebaston Stadium. The staff were very welcoming from start to end. We did find the shower drain was slightly blocked but we reported it in the morning and by the time we got back it was sorted so that was very much appreciated. We had the breakfast both days and had food in the cafe both days. We were served by Anupa who was very caring and made sure we were happy with everything. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. All in all we had a great experience and would stay here again. Thank you for great customer service
