This boutique hotel was formerly a coffee plantation. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, with sloping lawns, buildings painted a bright golden color, and the surrounding area planted with coffee bushes. We arrived early in the morning, fresh off a plane from David, and were immediately shown to a room - no issue with early check-in. From the start, the staff knew our names, and we learned theirs. The hotel is run daily by managed teams which do an excellent job. There is a happy hour every day from 4-6pm, with a different fruity cocktail of the day, a more traditional cocktail, and a non-alcoholic one for the younger folks. The food is marvelous, multiple options at each meal, including a Panamanian dish. The restaurant is there just for the guests and staff, not open to the public. We had marvelous meals, with adjustments made for my lactose-intolerant spouse. Every meal was fully enjoyed! About a dozen excursions are included - hikes, hot springs, rum - tea - coffee tours, lost waterfalls, hanging bridges, massage at the spa - just to name a few; many more are available at reasonable fees. While currently under construction to expand the dining and guest facilities, the hotel and staff were friendly, extremely personable, flexible, and genuinely invested in guests having a great time. The climate in this area of Panama is mild, averaging about 55-75 degrees F. The weather was delightful - mild, sunny - with the rain one might expect during the rainy season. This is one place we would definitely go back to, time and travel list permitting!
