InterContinental Hotels Bordeaux - le Grand Hotel

Bordeaux City Center Bordeaux|1.79km from Quartier du Grand Parc
Firstly I don't normally submit reviews. I think everyone's experience is subjective based on where you've travelled before and what your expectations are. I also think it only fair to address issues with management before posting on a public forum. All of these concerns that I refer to below have been expressed to the management and the response to date has been indifferent at best. Overall this hotel is overdue a refurbishment but unfortunately the tired nature of the decor extends to the staff and management also. My problems were many. The room was not serviced properly on two days. Paint was flaking from the walls and the air-conditioning did not work properly, which meant the room was frequently cold. The room was also poorly lit, which created a very depressing ambience. Check in and check out were comical. When I checked out I was given no bill, no invoice or any receipt, neither was one emailed to me. When I got home I saw that I had been overbilled by €300 which management told me was normal practice but was being refunded to me. By the way it took three days of emailing management to be told this. This could have easily been avoided or cleared this up if I was given an bill/invoice or informed of this by reception, none of which happened. There were other issues. The downstairs common areas are small, rundown and completely misrepresented by the hotels website. The staff refused to hail me a cab and told me to go inside and order one. A small issue, but surely that's one of the benefits of staying in a five star hotel. Finally communication. I emailed them, using the address provided on their website, filled out a contact form on the website and finally completed a customer satisfaction survey. No of this aroused the attention of the Hotel Management. Finally I resorted to the only tried and trusted method, Twitter. I eventually got a response here, but it too was also slow and labored. The room was €500 per night. It was far from value for money. Would I go to Bordeaux again, most definitely yes. Would I stay in this hotel again, most definitely no. The problems in this hotel extend across the board, it will take some effort to fix them.

There is a waitress at the front desk that is not friendly and welcoming, and everything else is fine!

Bordeaux City Center
Supernice and supergood hotel, marvelous room and central downtown location. Normally i book rooms in the 100-150E range. I decided to go a bit more luxurious and i tremendously enjoyed it. Im an easy going traveler, i was i Bordeaux to assess architecture and urbanism projects. I rented a bike to go around the city. The hotel staff is very naturel an friendly, no rush to empty your wallet but rather making sure you have a great time... Best hotel experience i had i a lon time travelling the globe. Wholeheartedly recommended!! Bordeaux is the best French City!

Booked a room at short notice. Although room was basic it was spotlessly clean. The kitchenette was small but fully equipt. Bathroom was clean & tidy. Shower worked well & there was plenty of hot water. However, the towels weren't changed during our 4 night stay & the bins weren't emptied. Luckily, there was an electric towel rail in the bathroom to dry the towels to use again. It would have been nice to have had a change of towels & bins emptied halfway through our stay. The matress has harder than I like but wasn't uncomfortable. However, the pillows were not great & my husband & I didn't find them very comfortable. The hotel was quiet but as we had a room over looking the road & the fraffic started to build up from 6am. My husband slept through the traffic noise but i am a light sleeper so the noise woke me. There was a problem with a smell in the bathroom when we first arrived but we repored it at reception & it was dealt with the next day. The smell never returned. The hotel is not close to the city centre. it's fine if you like walking; it took us about 35 minutes. There is a tram station quite close & fares are inexpensive. There is a good regular service. There were no major issues at the hotel & it was ideal for a short break.
Villas Foch Boutique Hotel & Spa Bordeaux

First time in Bordeaux, we booked a nice room here. Honestly, we're lucky enough that we're used to staying in top hotels, and this place blew us away. I'd go back to Bordeaux just to stay here again. The term ”boutique hotel” is so over-used these days, but Villas Foch is truly a boutique hotel. It's small, independently operated. In a nice quiet residential area. The service was off the charts. Everyone was so friendly and helpful to us. The hotel itself is absolutely gorgeous inside. I have no idea who the designer was, but huge kudos to them. The rooms are gorgeous, common areas are gorgeous. Breakfast was great. The bar here is great. Room was super comfy, bed was comfy, AC was great. The staff could not have been better. Like everyone went out of their way to make sure we were having a good time. Really, I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. Huge thank you to the staff here, we had a wonderful stay.
Hotel Indigo Bordeaux Centre Chartrons

Firstly do not be fooled like I was by the Indigo web page (which avoids sharing actual pictures of the hotel). This hotel is the old Mercure which was shabby when they had it. The exterior resembles an 1980's office building with glass frontage. My heart actually sank when I realised where I had booked. My room (one of the suites), was located on the sixth floor, mostly business meeting rooms. The room was at best average but the windows had no ability to let air circulate, combine this with a very poor AC, resulted in greenhouse like temperature's in March, in summer it would be unbearable. The room itself was €340.00 per night had no towels, combined with pathetic AC and an overall aesthetic from the 70's was not good value. It was clearly squeezed onto the business floor to extract (gouge) suckers like me. The corridors to the room were poorly maintained with insufficient lighting, I would not be happy for any female co-workers to book there and in fact have instructed the HR team to delist the hotel. The breakfast was frankly a disgrace, no food left at 08:30, poor staff, lack of care and very poor service, it was shocking. On departure I spoke with the manager and shared my thoughts and concerns, they offered me a free breakfast at €23.00. I'm not a serial reviewer or complainer but honestly, if you have another option please follow it, Bordeaux is one of my favourite cities, vibrant and full of adventures it deserves hotels far better than this one.

Great location in the middle of the historic area of Chartrons. Easy to walk everywhere and Bordeaux has fabulous public transport. Hotel room had facilities although the room was rather tight for us. Nice bathroom and separate toilet was a bonus. Stairs gave us a good workout.
