Absolutely stunning hotel! This place was nestled in such a gorgeous location! The view from the front of the hotel overseas lake Brienz. And the waterfall on the other side is a wonderful sight to explore. The hotel is historic, and due to that, they have some limitations on amenities. The rooms do not have centralized air. It was certainly not a deal breaker for us, but we did get warm during the day. The TV’s in the room were also small, and didn’t have access to the internet. Again, not a huge deal! The staff was by far the most kind and helpful people we met during our trip to Switzerland! Absolutely incredible! If you are visiting to see some Crash Landing On You sights, this hotel is almost perfectly in the middle of some major location. The landing dock is only 20 minutes away, and the panoramic bridge is about an hour. Though the drive to both locations was beautiful and well worth the time spent! I would highly recommend this hotel, and certainly the restaurant! The food was spectacular and gave is that sense of royalty!

Remember to ask the hotel in advance for the password to enter the iron gate if you are driving.

The location, the appearance is first-class, the room facilities are relatively old, and the antique furniture is also popular. It is not as good as expected, but it is not bad. You can drive into the hotel. The road is relatively narrow. There is an access control card on the last section of the road. Finally, I contacted the hotel in advance to ask for the password. Will take the initiative to tell you these precautions. Regarding the up and down of the cable car, sit for a while, hotel guests are free, you need to show your room card, remember to watch the timetable, don't miss the last bus. The view of the restaurant is very good and the service is attentive, but the food is as bad as ever, oh, I am not saying that this hotel is bad, I mean that all restaurants in Switzerland are bad (this breakfast is very good, you can go early, choose Facing the location of the waterfall, but the dinner is really hard to describe), unpalatable is one thing, full of ritual, each dish is served slowly, come up to explain to you what raw materials are used in this dish, how to make it, and if you actually taste it All restaurants in Switzerland, including but not limited to this one, are lacking in color and fragrance. My wife waited for the desserts to be served and hurriedly retreated. She panicked and forgot to take the bag. There is one thing to say, the service is still very good, the waiter put the bag at the front desk. Rory talked about it in a long way, hoping to be useful to the tourists behind.

Staying in this hotel is equivalent to living in a park, the scenery is really beautiful, and the body and mind are pleasant

Behind is the big waterfall and in front of the old hotel with the lake. The restaurant is not very good, but it is convenient. There's no need to come here on purpose. Passing by can live.

The service was good, the breakfast was delicious, and everything was good except for the inconvenience of transportation. I think it would be nice to have transportation after 4pm.

This is a true classic hotel which I urge you to treat yourself to for at least one night. Beautifully appointed public rooms - very elegant. We had a room with a waterfall view and the waterfall is indeed Magnificent. Dinner was gourmet. Lunch portions were huge (don't need soup and salad)

A grand experience staying at a grand hotel. Beautiful attention to detail throughout the entire property be it the room, the view, the surroundings or the meals served at their restaurants. This is a fabulous old building brought up to modern standards allowing the guests to experience old world ambiance with all the possible creature comforts expected in today's travel culture. Simply, a tier one level hotel worth the price. My wife is already planning a return trip for next year specifically to this hotel for a much longer stay. Just have to figure out how to pay for that trip!

My wife and I stay at the Grandhotel Giessbach for 3 nights in September 2024, and the staff for the most part is very friendly, however there's was this one receptionist at front desk in lobby that was very unapproachable. The first day I’m thinking ok maybe she’s having a bad day, however the second day we asked her a question, and she was just as rude. She do not belong in the hospitality industry. We are from the USA and don’t speak French, but she spoke English fluently. She made my Wife and I feel as though we didn’t belong there. Again, this is very unacceptable to have paid the amount of money that was charged. I get it, everyone is not approachable, but for someone to be in the hospitality industry, they are representing the first face of your business success and that is a part of their job obligation. This person was the hotel receptionist. All the other staff members throughout the hotel was very courteous.

Beautiful place - the hotel was magnificent to see inside and out - we really enjoyed the waterfall and hiking around the hotel. Saturday the hotel hosted a band I. The courtyard which was really fun - only area of improvement would be the breakfast - eggs tasted like they were made from powder - not what you would expect from such a nice place.

Great location, spacious room, nice facilities, with the funicular and the boat pier in the front yard and the spectacular waterfalls in the backyard. The nostalgic pass was a pleasant surprise and great value which includes unlimited boat ride on the beautiful Brienz Lake and the nearby Ballenberg Swiss Open-air Museum during the stay.

Quite simply the best hotel ever. It is in the most magical place, with astonishing views and transports you back to the beginning of the 20th century. Everything is period and beautifully restored and spotlessly clean. Wherever you look, it is a feast for the eyes. You almost feel you have stumble into a film set for a period drama. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. It's just a wonderful hotel experience. Sad that it is so pricey, as this limits how long you can stay there. Wouldn't it be wonderful to stay a week rather than a day! In 60 years, I have been to many fine hotels, including a good smattering of 5* hotels across the world. The Grandhotel Giessbach is my favourite. I must save up for another visit!

We visited in August and had a great stay. We booked with the Nostalgia pass and the dinner inclusive option. The hotel is pretty remote but beautiful. Dinner options were good but did lack variety with the offered sides to the main dish. Only room complaint was on the 3rd floor there are large beams at an angle which makes navigating a bit tricky. Rooms were very clean and staff was great. There is not AC so if you travel in the summer, take note.
