Hello to everyone out there looking for a cheap hostel. First of all, this isn't really a hostel as you know it, but more of an Air BnB, which is why the accommodation is also offered there, among other places. Unfortunately, I had a very unpleasant experience with the hostel. Although I wanted to spend several nights there, I was quite uncomfortable with the accommodation and the cleanliness and hygiene right from the start. Even the employee who always drives by when you have questions (everything is online) said that the furniture could just as well be thrown away... After two nights, I started coughing badly, only to see that there was mold everywhere when I walked through the apartment again, but the worst came later... Then I was sitting in the kitchen eating dinner and suddenly a rat just ran through the kitchen. There are rats outside the house too. Overall, I saw access for rats, i.e. holes etc. in the wall, both in the kitchen and in the bathroom, and unfortunately also in my room. In the end, the owner, who owns four of these houses, didn't want to give me the money back at first and then she eventually gave me a part of it, but be extremely careful. The area isn't the best even though you can get to the city center relatively easily and this was the worst and most unhygienic hostel I've ever been in...the sad thing is that I got the impression that the employee knew that there was a rat problem and hygiene problems. He just started laughing and said that was normal and the case everywhere in Vancouver (*** then don't offer the apartment as a place to sleep!). A dude who has been living there for a long time also said that the cleaning staff are regularly fired, à la either you don't say anything or you're thrown out... I'm talking about one apartment here but I was in the other building before and it looked exactly the same. In general, I think little energy is spent on health. Please take care of yourselves!
