Settle in guys, this is going to be a bumpy ride. Let me preface this review by expressing just how much I did not want to get into this, but after the absolutely disgusting way in which the owner/manager/woman at the front desk handled herself and this unfortunate situation - I feel I owe it to others as a warning. On March 1st, I contacted this caravan park via email and phone expressing my interest in booking a powered site for 3 nights over the long weekend. I didn't have much hope as I knew like most places, it would probably be booked out. To my astonishment and surprise, I was told by the lady on the phone that she has "one left" and that we could book the dates we requested. I was so elated, shocked but so happy and I immediately asked how to pay the deposit! I was so excited as it looked like the most beautiful place to holiday (it really does ☺️ it's gorgeous). I waited for the email on how to pay and it came through quickly. THIS is where things get sticky. Here is where MY error came into play by not noticing THEIR error! They had sent me the wrong dates and in my haste to book, I looked for the bank details and assumed they had done their job correctly. Spoiler alert: they hadn't. I sent a screenshot with my bank transfer of $65 and went about my day. As the owner loves to point out, 4 emails in total were sent to me. What she fails to mention is that only ONE of those emails has the (incorrect) information of the booking. The rest are terms about dogs, check in/check out etc. I've got the screenshots to confirm. Fast forward to the long weekend, my husband and I take the day off work on the Friday, pack our two young children and dog into our caravan and head off for what was meant to be an amazing family holiday. We arrive in the picturesque town of Marysville and drive to the caravan park. We park our the front and check in at reception as per the signage. When I arrive I wait to be seen by the woman at the desk and when I'm called I tell her my surname. She looks and says she can't see anything. I said my first name and she snaps at me saying "my system goes by last names! You're not here!" I thought, okay, maybe she's just frazzled with the lead up to the big influx of guests. I politely say my name again and show her my email with the confirmation number. She looks it up and says "your booking was cancelled!" I'm sorry? I was shocked! I once again politely explained that I never cancelled my booking and she rudely said "you never showed up to your booking! It was last week! You missed it!" I was in total shock and showed her my email asking for the dates of the long weekend. She once again very rudely told me that it was my fault for not checking the confirmation email and that they've been booked out for 3 months. Which she is right - I absolutely should have and I take full responsibility for that part. But the fact remains, I was told that they had "one left" on the dates I emailed about and then spoke with the staff member
