I recently stayed at Travelodge Cardiff Queen Street while visiting my son, and I must say the staff were kind, courteous and very helpful. I was travelling with my rescue puppy for the first time and they couldn't have done more to make us both welcome. The room was spotless, and even though it was quite busy, everyone from the manager to the housekeeping staff took their time to get things right. Thank you.

We stayed at the Hilton Cardiff for four days at the end of March 2023. We really enjoyed our stay! The people at reception made us feel very welcomed, and couldn’t have been nicer! ALL of the people who work here were extremely friendly and helpful. We wanted to give a special thank you to Mark, the night manager. He was always cheerful - at the beginning AND at the end of his shift in the morning, which is not easy! He even kindly got us a bucket of ice very early one morning when my wife hurt her knee as she was stepping out of bed and the bed rolled away from her. We spoke to Mark about the incident, and hopefully, by now, they have fixed the “rolling coasters with no brakes on the box springs” problem. Mark was so kind and concerned about her fall that he checked on her twice - right after the incident and even the next day, which was the last day of our stay. The breakfast buffet had an excellent variety of hot and cold food offerings and was maintained to perfection by the attentive and efficient staff! The buffet was hosted by Bassam, who was very personable and interesting to talk with. The executive lounge was lovely, with beverages and a few snacks available throughout the day. There is an evening manager’s reception and some savory finger foods were offered each night. Our room had a stunning view of Cardiff Castle and the castle grounds! We would happily return to Hilton Cardiff, and we thank them for making our stay really memorable and pleasant. As a side note, we took the Cardiff Castle Ghost Tour and highly recommend it! It’s great to be able to tour the castle at night, and the two hosts were full of fun facts and historical information about the beautiful and “over the top” decor of the castle!

After having a number of afternoon tea’s in this hotel I’m saddened to say that todays experience was not like it has been in the past. The food was still good but the experience and service was a huge let down compared to before. The Hendricks afternoon tea’s have stopped which is sad as many of us would of had these. I ordered a second cup of coffee and ended up waiting 25 minutes for this. Some of my friends mentioned their coffee’s were cold. One asked for a second pot of tea, she was asked if she wanted a fresh pot or the one she’d been drinking topped up, she requested a fresh pot but received the same pot of tea back having just been topped up with hot water. The tea was weak and stewed. The Welsh cakes were dry and stale plastered in sugar! The atmosphere was lovely however it’s sad that we have all agreed we will not go back again (party of 13)! Plus there was a 10% service charge on top of the price for our afternoon tea. We gave a little more but thinking back on this I wish I had said no. Sorry to have to write this review.

We arrived a bit early and were able to leave our luggage in the storage room and we received a ticket for this which was good. Our room was really comfortable and there was ample space to hang up my dresses. The bathroom was a good size and there was a bath. We were on the railway station side but with the window closed, you could barely hear them. The bed was comfortable. The staff were really kind and helpful. You could hear people coming back into their rooms and unlocking their doors which could be a bit disconcerting but overall I really liked the hotel. Easy to walk to the main stations and along the river.

Environment (Figure 1): On a remote street in Cardiff, surrounded by residential areas (Figure 2), people who are new to the city need to use Google Maps to find it. The environment is good during the day. There is a bar downstairs. The hostess is very polite. I arrived late. She found my materials from the guest information and told the password to open the door, which was smooth
Hygienic: No problem, very clean, the room is not big, there is a separate bathroom, booked a single room suitable for one person

GGuest Userprobably the best hotel i’ve stayed in for just going to party! we had a lush time and hotel staff were amazing from start to finish, we felt so welcomed and had an amazing stay at this hotel the rooms are gorgeous and spacious, TV worked perfectly, we had coffee tea and hot chocolate and an ice machine right outside our room- talk about fancy. there was an amazing mirror light in the bathroom which gave out the best lighting! we was on the 11th floor and it was perfect, so quiet and such amazing views i cannot wait to stay here again 🤗
GGuest UserI just stayed here with my son, my friend and her daughter and we had such a pleasant stay. The Caerphilly Suite was spotless and each bedroom was cosy and spacious. I'm not sure how the sofa bed was supposed to work but it didn't matter to us, we were happy to just use the beds which are SO comfortable! The suite was equipped with a fridge, a microwave, plates, cutlery, mugs, glasses, a selection of teas and snacks and a complimentary fresh milk in the fridge! The bathroom was sparkling with lovely clean towels, toiletries to use and despite being in the centre of Cardiff, not a single noise bothered us from outside all night - we all slept very soundly. Even the room temperature seemed to be perfectly planned - none of us were ever too hot or too cold!! Oh and last but not least, the WiFi works brilliantly! Steve was very friendly and helpful, especially as we had some miscommunication with our booking. I would not hesitate in recommending Inn Cardiff and I will most definitely stay here again. It's the perfect location - a stone's throw from Bute and the centre. Thank you for an excellent stay!
GGuest UserEverything about this booking experience and stay has been amazing. From the initial queries to checking in, the staff were so incredibly helpful. When we checked in, we were upgraded for free to a much larger room which looked amazing. We paid for breakfast for 2 of the mornings we stayed and were treated to a buffet of all of the usual delicious breakfast options you would expect. Quickly served tea with a smile, all of the staff were friendly, polite and helpful. Each time we interacted with any of the staff, they were nothing but kind and informative, absolutely no complaints about them whatsoever! They really made us feel welcome and special every day. We have already decided we will be coming back soon! The room itself was spacious and comfortable. The room was an Executive Room, with complimentary tea and coffee. Plenty of towels and amenities. The king size bed was so soft we almost didn't get out of bed. The hotel itself is so close to the train station that we were happy to walk. It was also close to so many restaurants and shops so we were never too far from anything. The only downsides I would say is that there was a strange red stain on the curtain rail, which I imagine is hard to clean! Out of everything, that was the only issue we ever came across, quite minor and did not impact our stay.
GGuest UserStopped at Holiday Inn Cardiff from Friday to Sunday to see the speedway at principality stadium. Hotel was perfect location for us. Easy to park at the hotel which was an added bonus as at other hotels we’ve had to park at NCPs. Rooms were good and spotlessly clean. The air conditioning worked extremely well and was a nice change from the heatwave outside! Hotel was very quiet which was surprising given how busy it was. Had breakfast both mornings, which had a good choice with the buffet being topped up regularly. Despite being an extremely busy weekend we were seated instantly and didn’t have to wait for the buffet top ups. The only thing letting the hotel down and giving a reduction in rating was reception. The receptionists came across very cold and did not display the “true hospitality” which we usually see at IHG hotels. Did not feel welcomed at all. The coldness and abruptness was felt at both check in and check out by different staff.
GGuest UserHere is a delightful venue for visiting Cardiff. We enjoyed a one night stay in a comfortable, spotlessly clean room followed by a freshly cooked delicious full Welsh breakfast. The owners and their team were friendly and most helpful. Ideally situated within a 10/15 minutes walk to the city through Sophia Gardens yet far enough out to be on a reasonably quiet main road. Plenty of non city centre pubs close by. Perfect venue for the cricket ground. We will return.
GGuest UserI stayed here Friday night as I was attending a wedding. There was limited accommodation available in Cardiff city centre due to a few events being on and all the hotels I usually stay at were either fully booked or had tripled in price so I stayed here. I arrived at just gone 4 to drop my case off and freshen up as it was 35°! I was greeted by a lovely lady and directed to my room on the second floor. Yes the hotel isn't suitable for those with mobility issues, but this is clearly stated on sites as there is no lift. My room, linen and towels were spotlessly clean. Plenty of tea and coffee supplied and 2 bottles of water which was welcome because of the heat. There was also a fan in the room which you don't get in many hotels and again very welcome. I went to the reception returning at 1am and greeted by the night Watchman, another lovely member of staff who asked if I'd enjoyed the wedding and let me in a few time after while I popped out for cigarettes and chatted. I usually book a double room but none were available but the beds were 3/4 so plenty of room. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and I had a good night's sleep until 7am. I was woken by the property next door making an awful lot of noise for half an hour. Not the hotels fault and I believe they supply ear plugs if you ask, as I was at the back I didn't ask. After a lovely shower I packed up and went to check out. Check out, like check in was speedy with the same lovely lady who asked how the wedding had been. Left my bags there while I went shopping and picked them up a couple of hours later. I had a phone call after that as I'd left my spare phone in the room. Unfortunately I was on the way home but she arranged for my cousin to pick it up. I will definitely stay again. Cheaper than my usual hotels and just as close to the shops and pubs.
GGuest UserIt is not the hotel thats the problem but the hotel owner/ manager. Not only was he blunt but his customer service is appalling. His staff was coping very well but he had to interfere under mining them as well as us ,as guests I am a 62 year old married man and being told that now hes got our money he can order us out, i dont think is the correct attitude to have dealing with his guests and this was before we even got our room keys. If it wasnt for customers as myself his business wouldn't survive and after the covid epidemic , you would think he would take more appreciation than putting people off to stay at his hotel I have travelled the world and never done a review before but i couldn't let future guests be dealt with in such a disrespectful manner as this hotelier treated me
FFrenchfries_KI checked in very late and the room card was ready when I arrived. Parking was free. The room was comfortable and equipped with basic shower supplies.
GGuest UserHairdryer is provided in the shared shower room, and with curtain next to each bed which provides greater conveniency and privacy. While free tea and coffee are provided next to the reception 24/7. However, the lock here is password lock, and the staff would change the password frequently for preventing homeless people, this can be good or not, one hand is providing greater safety, yet, it can also make you being lock outside the hostel (that's what I experienced). And one more thing is that I found bloodstain on the bed sheet. Overall, I would say it's a cost-effective choice
GGuest UserThe bed was comfy and the shower very good. Unfortunately that’s where the good parts end. Room was ok, carpet not particularly clean and the room was not serviced. When I asked I was told that the beds were not made but towels and tea/coffee were replenished- this had not happened. We were all awoken at 5am with the unbelievable noisy bins being emptied. Food average and for a hotel not badly priced. Breakfast ok but little choice as far as healthy options were concerned.Staff very helpful and friendly on the bar but did not have a clue about drinks. Left white wine out on the counter so it was not cold and at £11 a glass this was not on. The bar was noisy in the evenings with loud music or sport on the screen so not relaxing at all. Overall this is set up for working people where the company pays for the stay so guest generally not too bothered about the quality of the stay. Would not stay again unless I had to on business.
