A beautiful hotel in an abandoned village. Beautifully landscaped swimming pool with a view of the mountains. I was here with my 9-year-old daughter. The price you pay is that you give up your freedom and your privacy. The owner seems nice but turns out to be calculating and after every penny he can earn. The prices he uses are un-Portuguese high. His (un)hospitality and (un)friendliness are also un-Portuguese. The hotel, or Bed & Breakfast as he prefers to call it, has a system of grabbing your own consumption and writing it down on a receipt, something that works fine. This is the case at the pool and at a bar in the main building. In a previous hotel in Ibiza (and in other places) where I was, this system was also there and the coffee and tea (or hot water) was free. I assumed that this was also the case here and had not seen this properly on the sign-off receipt. I was addressed immediately and unkindly about this, as if I would do this consciously. As well as the light I had left on, as well as how I got it into my head to take the towels, which are 'officially' used for the swimming pool, to a nearby beach. As well as the parasol at the pool that I had not folded in time. I also let strangers on his property (I have a friend who lives in that area who picked me up to go out. While she picked me up I showed her the accommodation and we drank tea in the garden. Well this was much to the dissatisfaction of the owner. I should have asked this and then he would have said no). The feeling of (hospitality) freedom and privacy were hard to find. The price you pay per night is totally out of proportion to the attitude the owner projects onto his guests. Very strange and unpleasant. I paid for all the drinks and left everything tidy. I would definitely have dinner somewhere else, it is of very mediocre quality and especially uncomfortable. In the nice town of Coja, less than a 10-minute drive away, you have plenty of cozy and good restaurants at better prices anyway. I had booked for 3 nights but left early because of this atmosphere. I didn't feel comfortable at all anymore and that in the beautiful Portugal that I enjoyed so much. This was also a very unpleasant experience for my daughter. Undisturbed enjoyment is absolutely out of the question here. Of course I didn't get any kind of understanding or refund. A normal conversation with the owner was impossible. Then he tried to prevent me from writing a review. I am not looking for profit or fuss, we have traveled to many countries over the years and stayed in many hotels, apartments and bed and breakfasts but we have never experienced anything even in this direction. The owner will also want to respond to this review. Trust me: don't take this seriously and just look for one of the many alternative options that beautiful Portugal has to offer. Somewhere where you'll find welcoming and friendly bra
