Dar Echchaouen Maison d'Hôtes & Riad

This Riad is located just on the periphery of the medina of ChefChaoeun with nice views of the town. The outdoor spaces are very pretty and inviting. There is a lovely pool area with good seating options and views. We were here with a tour group and felt very welcome. We had dinner here one night and it was good. The daily breakfast is nice with plenty of options plus a freshly prepared omelet. The room was comfortable with adequate space.

Beautiful hotel. Lovely room, although a little less decorated than other places I stayed in Morocco. Good amenities. Nice terrace. The hotel has a beautiful pool with a great view. Wonderful outdoor spaces. Service was just OK. I feel that the staff is overworked and under appreciated. Food was very poor, especially dinner. Overall decent stay but I suspect there's a lot of good options in this beautiful Blue City.

Beautiful hotel very centrally located with a lot of authentic charm and modern amenities. Beautiful pool. Nice showers in room. Good breakfast with omelets. Very charming rooms. Wearing. Lots of stairs. You must be ok with walking stairs. Otherwise highly recommend

Overall an excellent hotel. Recently renovated, our room was a delight. Location in Chefchaouen is ideal. We were on a half board basis; evening meal was very good, a nice dining room. Breakfast was in the up stairs dining area and very chaotic! Too small an area for the number of guests at the popular 8-9 am slot. For the first time on our tour of Morocco, we found the staff were not very welcoming. No smiling faces; even the guy delivering our suitcases and receiving a tip never uttered a word or gesture of thanks. That aspect was disappointing but we did enjoy our visit to the ‘blue’ town.

Absolutely stunning riyad with gardens and bungalow rooms with a living and quaint decor. Breath taking views across the old city glistening in white and blue. Climb up to the rooms are a bit steep and not for ppl who have difficulty climbing. Some of the bungalows have a private terrace or balcony as well . Dinner and breakfast at the Ground floor restaurant and 1st floor areas were good. Only issue I had was the pressure of water  in the shower. Else it was the most beautiful place in Chefchouen. Staff are not too friendly nor accommodating in comparison to the other Riyads where we stayed.

This hotel has a lot of potential but fell flat in our experience. First impressions are everything and with hotels that impression is typically based upon how you are initially greeted. We had traveled from a riad in Fes where we were greeted warmly, offered tea, and felt immediately comfortable. Not so here. When we approached the clerk at the desk he barely looked up at us and I had to ask him if we could check in. He never once cracked a smile or made us feel welcome. The hotel is well-located on the hill with a nice view of the charming town that is only a short stroll away. The pool and outdoor areas are lush and inviting. The rooms, however, are dark and tired. Many have lovely views and could be nice if they were renovated. However, as they are, we did not want to spend any time in them other than to sleep. With respect to dining, the fireplace in the restaurant had created so much smoke in the air that we declined to eat dinner there. The staff kindly accommodated us by moving us to the upstairs dining area that is normally used for breakfast The dinner menu and quality was OK but nothing special. Breakfast was good. With some upgrades to the rooms this hotel could be very nice. But as it is currently, I can't rate it higher than a 3 (out of 5).
