Quick facts first then a little advice. Hotel: immaculately maintained. Yes it is a bit older, but you’d never know. It has an elegance and charm perfectly placed in its environment. Service and Staff: second to none. It’s as if they read your mind. But they also remember your preferences. Only one other resort in our global travels has ever achieved this feat. Mind blowingly good. Food: awesome. Experiences/activities: perfect in every way. Not only is there a full and interactive menu for the purpose of the resort (elephants), but also to explore and learn about this very unique region. What we did: canopy lunch, trekking tour, tea and coffee plantation tour, elephant walk, elephant picnic and jungle bubble. We would pay to do them all again in a heartbeat. But if time is short, do a canopy breakfast or lunch first to see the sanctuary from above…unbelievable views. Then do an elephant walk and a bubble if it’s in your budget, you won’t regret it. Observations:a lot of guests stayed for 2 nights. We stayed 5. Some places on this blue marble are better served w longer stays. Anantara GT is one of them. Make the elephants and this sanctuary the center of your experience and plan accordingly. If u just want to see an elephant, 2 nights will scratch that itch, but you will miss out on what the resort can teach you not only about elephants, but also the region. And if you stay an extra couple of nights you’ll not only get a full experience but have tjhe time to enjoy the relaxing hotel and awesome amenities. Caveat (it can get expensive for certain activities. If that’s not in your budget, still go for a couple days, do what you can afford, take advantage of the FREE activities because every dollar spent at this resort helps protect and pay for the sanctuary and you’ll still have an unforgettable memory.)
