Hotels Near 7-Eleven in Chicago

I had booked a last minute trip to Chicago's Virgin Hotel to spend some time with my daughters. From the first minute we walked in the service was impeccable. This continued throughout our stay everytime we walked in or out of the hotel (many times). The location was perfect to shops, restaurants, Riverwalk, beautiful architecture, and many other visual attractions. The only downfall to our visit was it was Covid season and many restrictions to places we could go to watch the football game and/or eat as the restaurants were all closed in the hotel. That was a safety issue for the guests so it was appreciated they weren't open. The one thing I'd recommend is for them to have a list of what was open nearby and what was offered (dine-in, delivery, take out, etc.). We were able to find places on our own, but it would have saved us the time from searching/calling around. Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel!!

In the hotel in 2022, check-in and check-out are self-service, the room is small but very new, the pad controls the room equipment, the location is in the city center, and the price is basically satisfactory.

We had a great stay at this establishment. Everyone there is friendly, professional and genuinely seems happy with their jobs. Usually, this indicates good management, so keep up the good work! I was very impressed with the front desk agent Fernando. Before our arrival, I had to call in about our reservations. Fernando took the call, and before I could even explain my situation, he had already reverse searched my phone number into his reservation system, and knew who I was in less than 10 he fixed the problem!!

The location of this hotel is quite good, just in the gorgeous one mile area, shopping and eating are very convenient. The hotel service staff was very welcoming. The decoration is relatively modern, unlike most American hotels. The only thing is that there is no lobby on the first floor, but someone has been helping to open the door to pick up luggage. Breakfast is ok, buffet is average, ordering is good, there are many options. The floor-to-ceiling windows were very comfortable when the sun came in. Although you can't see the river view, it's not far to walk to the river.

This is a catfish hotel! There are absolutely no amenities! No pool, no bar, no microwave. There was a refrigerator. TV cable does not work. WI-FI does not work! It kept saying their internet was not on a secure internet and that the license expired. The layout of this hotel is weird. They have more seating for their employees than they do for their guests in the small lobby! Very tacky! There is a total of four lounge chairs to sit very closely in front of staff. The worst lounge seating I’ve ever seen in a hotel. I was also nervous about staying here because of all the commentary on the previous incidents. I should have read thoroughly the reviews. There is security here however. The staff is pleasant but I don’t think they do anything other be pleasant. There is nothing that has become useful for me. I’ve read reviews about the not comping rooms due to a change in the room. This place sucks! I will NEVER stay here AGAIN! The only plus was that it was quiet on my floor but that could’ve been because this place is practically empty. Also it’s very close to the shops on the magnificent mile and other places that are popular. Still not worth staying in. This hotel has motel standards. That’s what I feel like I stayed in. I don’t understand why the rating is so high unless the staff is coming in here writing fake reviews. Please make sure you read reviews before booking the hotel or any hotel. Lesson learned for me.

I visited the Warwick Allerton with a group of friends over a three night stay. The hotel is older, in the midst of a remodel. Our room was fine, appeared to be remodeled. It was clean, comfortable bed and furniture. Housekeeping had to be scheduled and we ran out of toilet paper before the scheduled service. Additionally our wifi was continually disconnecting. Alicia from the front desk offered to come up to our room, reset our wifi and delivered 2 rolls of toilet paper. She arrived within minutes of me talking to her. She was friendly and very helpful. The hotel charges a $15.00 daily service fee. The restaurant was closed for remodeling and there was no food on the premises. There may have been a gym, which we did not use. I fail to see the benefits of the facility fee and would rather just have the room charge be higher if the hotel needs to make a higher profit on the rooms. The hotel is in a good location for shopping and restaurants. The valet service was also efficient.

Interesting holiday in the heart of downtown. You enter via the lobby for an apartmen building. Apparently the revolving doors to the hotel were 'broken'. There is a check-in desk -- that is manned sporadically. then you go around the corner, passed the escaloator going down, and to the elevators to the 15th floor. Another lobby and desk there - plus restaurant, snack shop / deli and full bar. This floor is nice with a big interior atrium. Then more elevators up to floors 19-23 where the rooms are. The room was nice - though the A/C was set to 66 when I arrived, and it had just got done snowing. Cranked the heat up, and came back to a toasty room. Think is - it never shut off -- so it was either HOT or COLD. And noisy the whole time. Never got time to file a complaint, as most days when I left in the AM, there was no one at the 15th floor desk, and the check-in desk was always busy. My room was clean-ish, though I did find a bottlecap under the desk when I went looking for a stray sock, and there were 2 unopened beers and a half-drunk YooHoo in the fridge. The fridge is tiny - like smaller than those small college fridges. The Chicago Hotel Collection Magnificent Mile The cleaning rules and service is by far the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in my life. You have to request room service I requested room service a day before as the policy says and they still don’t clean the room towels were not switched out the garbage was not disposed of. I complained for a second time at the front desk with the two young ladies and now she wants to argue with me. Then the argument turned into negotiations on what gets cleaned and what does not. She says “we can replace the towels and remove the trash but we can’t make up the bed” (SMDH) I can’t make this Chit up I think it’s horrible that I have to negotiate with the front desk about getting my room cleaned, hotels are supposed to clean the room regardless whether you ask for them or not that’s common courtesy but this place does not. It became a negotiation tactic this should not even be a conversation as hotels are supposed to clean your room daily. The Wifi is shotty at best. Logging on to Wi-Fi seems to be a very difficult challenge as once you connect to the Wi-Fi in your settings then you have to go to your web browser and log in a code and that doesn’t happen. Finally, after about 10 attempts the web login page pulled up. Their Wi-Fi system does not allow your connected device to stay on you have to re-login every time you shut down your device therefore you have the same problem all over again also I found it harder to connect at late night hours as opposed to the morning and I’m not sure if they’re cutting off the Wi-Fi the other problem that I had was it would connect to one device and not the other. I can’t recommend this place at all if you’re looking for good service the hotel room is nice but that’s where it ends. This hotel lacks good service or good customer service at the front desk, they just keep repeating “sir it's policy” to do this, certain policy to do that and if that’s their policy with Customer service and how they handle a problem or three customers it’s not a hotel I suggest anyone going to, especially for the high dollar amount per night I do not recommend this hotel at all.

Enjoyed my stay it was peaceful. Staff were very friendly and housekeeping was fantastic with cleaning the rooms daily. Will definitely stay here again. They also had a safe in the room.

We got lucky and got an okay room with no significant health violations. The facilities are very dated but we expected that by reading the reviews. One alarming factor was that the locks did not work at all. The check-in was okay, but the receptionist was not very communicative.
