Hotels in People's Square Area, Chongqing

This was the first hotel I stayed at in Chongqing, and I was very satisfied. It had large windows with a view of the Chongqing People's Assembly Hall. Waking up to such a beautiful view every day put me in a great mood. The soundproofing was also excellent, so I slept very well. The service was fantastic! We stayed for two nights, and on the second day, our butler, Penny, even called to ask if we needed housekeeping while we were out. To find such a great hotel in Chongqing for under 500 yuan is amazing. Thumbs up!

Pros: First off, the bed was super comfy, which is the most important thing for me when staying at a hotel. Secondly, the room was really spacious, about 30 square meters, and quite clean. The whole room was also pretty and had a nice style. I stayed in two rooms. The first room was a free upgrade from the front desk; that room type had a more logically laid-out bathroom and a washing machine, and it was a bit larger than the bathroom in the second special offer king room. Also, the first room had more tables, so there was plenty of counter space, which I think is great for group travelers. The hotel's security was also good. Finally, the hotel is only 400m from the subway station and just over 500m from the bus stop, a mere three to four-minute walk, so transportation is quite convenient. Cons: The air conditioning in the first room wasn't facing the bed, and the cooling effect really wasn't very good. I'd get hot just by moving around a little in the room, which might not be ideal for people who are sensitive to heat. Secondly, the room's internet speed was very poor. The internet in the second special offer king room was slightly better, the AC was facing the bed, and the cooling effect was also better. Below are photos of the special offer king room; the only minor drawback in this room was the small window.

Our flight was delayed, and we arrived at the hotel in the early morning. The male front desk staff on duty was fluent in English and very kind, which made our late check-in smooth. The hotel room furniture and amenities are a bit dated, but overall they were kept clean. However, we had a very unpleasant experience at the fitness center. After using the swimming pool, we tried to use the spin dryer in the changing room, but it didn't work. When we asked the fitness staff for help, they rudely dismissed the issue and bluntly said it was impossible without even checking. Fortunately, when we inquired at the 1st-floor lobby, a staff member named William helped us deal with this issue. He personally accompanied us back to the fitness center and thoughtfully arranged for us to use the staff dryer. We are deeply grateful for William’s professional and kind service. That being said, the hotel needs to address a few operational issues: The mini spin dryer in the changing room should be repaired or replaced promptly. The senior staff member at the fitness center showed a poor professional attitude —shirked responsibilities by pushing tasks onto a subordinate who claimed that day was her first day working at the hotel fitness center (believe it or not), and was impolite to guests. Service retraining for the fitness center staffs is strongly recommended.

The room was clean and the breakfast was delicious and plentiful. I often stay at Ji Hotel, it's always comfortable and pleasant. Highly recommend it!

A hidden gem of a hotel nestled within Eling II Factory, offering an escape from the city's hustle and bustle. It's a short walk to the popular rooftop terrace, very close to Liziba, and a convenient taxi ride to Jiefangbei, making getting around and exploring hassle-free. This art space, transformed from an old factory building, features a spiral staircase that's perfect for photos. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer panoramic views of Chongqing's mountains and forests, providing a tranquil retreat amidst the urban environment. The private hot spring rooms allow you to soak while enjoying the night view, washing away the fatigue of travel.

The room was great! The front desk staff, especially one of the ladies, was very welcoming and enthusiastic. The environment was lovely, and the street view from the window was truly amazing. The location is excellent, making it convenient to get anywhere, and the price offers fantastic value for money. (I extended my stay in the same room and asked for housekeeping at 8 AM, but by 1 PM, it still hadn't been done. They said they forgot, which was a bit of a letdown in my overall experience.)

This Wanda Realm hotel has an excellent location, making it super convenient for getting around and sightseeing. The riverside view is absolutely stunning, and the river view from the room is just beautiful. Despite being in a bustling area, it's exceptionally quiet. The stay was comfortable, and the staff were attentive and thoughtful, providing meticulous service. It's also very close to Liziba and the Great Hall. I'll definitely choose this hotel again next time I visit Chongqing!

I initially went to the wrong branch, the one on Jiefangbei Road. Make sure to double-check which branch you're heading to when taking a taxi! This particular branch is closer to the People's Grand Hall Museum, and it's also quieter. Big thanks to the front desk for upgrading us to a family room! The room was comfortable and clean, and we could even see the river view. They also provided snacks and drinks in the room, and the slippers were very comfy. Outside, there's a free tea and coffee bar, which was absolutely fantastic. The breakfast was great too. We tried the specialty豌杂面 (Wanzamian noodles), savory tofu pudding, and Youcha (oil tea), and we all loved it so much we went back for more, haha! The milk and juice were even from Sam's Club. Next time we're in Chongqing, we all agreed this would be our first choice. It's even great for just staying in and ordering takeout.

We had an absolutely amazing stay at Atour Hotel Chongqing Grand Auditorium & Jialing River Binjiang Road! After spending 6D5N here, we can honestly say that we really, really enjoyed our stay and were genuinely sad to leave. From the moment we arrived, everything was great. Our room was super clean, comfortable, and cosy, and we really loved the modern and beautiful design of the hotel. The entire environment was clean, peaceful, and very comfortable, which made our stay even more enjoyable. The location is fantastic as well! The railway station is only around 7 minutes away, and many of the popular attractions are just a few stops away, making it extremely convenient for us to explore Chongqing. There is also a convenience store right downstairs, which was very useful whenever we needed to grab something quickly. One of our favourite services was the free laundry service! We could simply pass our clothes to the staff, and they helped us with washing and drying. Once everything was done, they even sent our clean clothes back up to our room. This was such a thoughtful and convenient service, especially since we stayed for 6D5N. The breakfast was also fantastic, with so many choices and a really nice dining environment. We genuinely looked forward to breakfast every morning! But the biggest highlight of our stay was definitely the amazing service from the staff, especially Hu Yang from the reception. We would really like to give her a BIG shoutout because she was incredibly kind, patient, helpful, and professional throughout our entire stay. We actually encountered some problems with an online purchase, and Hu Yang went above and beyond to help us communicate with the seller and solve the issue. She patiently helped us with the situation for several days, even though it was not really her responsibility. We truly appreciated her kindness and willingness to help us. As Malaysians, we also had some difficulties using Alipay. We asked Hu Yang if she could transfer money to our Alipay account, and we would give her the equivalent amount in cash. She kindly agreed and helped us with this, which made things so much easier for us while travelling in China. We are genuinely grateful for her help and patience! After spending 6D5N at this hotel, we can confidently say that this was a wonderful and memorable stay for us. The excellent location, beautiful hotel design, clean and comfortable room, delicious breakfast, convenient facilities, free laundry service, and especially the warm and helpful staff all made our trip so much better. A huge thank you to the entire Atour team, and especially Hu Yang, for taking such good care of us! ❤️ We would 100% recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Chongqing, especially tourists looking for a convenient, clean, comfortable, and welcoming place to stay. We absolutely loved our stay here and would definitely come back again when we visit Chongqing! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Pros: Very convenient location, just a 2-minute walk to the subway station. It's also right next to the Soong Ching Ling Memorial Residence. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, and the environment was clean. Potential drawbacks: The soundproofing between rooms is a bit weak. It's probably better to choose a room that doesn't face the main road.
