We were visiting the UK during Easter and sailing back to Spain from Plymouth. Our pre-night stay was to have been at Church House Inn, Kingsbridge. However, due to a multiple bereavement we had to leave UK early and drive through France to return home. I did not even think at the time to cancel the booking. When home in Spain I recieved this on my email... '...We have tried to contact you as you still have not arrived. The number you have given is not responding. Check in time has now passed when will you be arriving??? ' Clearly a very 'put-out' member of The Church House! I then 'phoned them to explain the situation in as few words as possible. Today (3/5/23) I 'phoned them to pay the outstanding money of 135 GBP, which I would have paid if we had gone to the Church House INN. Again, not one single word of condolences. Perhaps a lesson here for staff ... Never assume that people don't have bigget things to deal with. Today, a softer and perhaps condolence might have been kind. In a world where we can, if we chose be kind........!
