We stay here quite regularly - not because the hotel is fabulous but because it's the only one in the area which has proper king sized beds available, and because the location is perfect as we are driving down the A6. They don't do weddings either which means you dont have all that noise to contend with. Hopefully now it's being rebranded this update will continue throughout the interior. The rooms are very dark and dated. There was a slight issue when we arrived as my message did not seem to have got through to say we needed a ground floor room due to mobility issues and by the time we arrived they had all been allocated and most of the lifts are currently being replaced, but the reception girls quickly got that sorted and gave us a family room with 2 double beds. The mattresses were in dire need of replacement - terribly saggy and one of them had a huge dip in the middle making them extremely uncomfortable. The duvets are horrendously heavy. There is no need to have something so heavy as you can get a good amount of heat from a much lighter weight duvet. I struggled to move under it as it weighed down so much and I have arthritis in my shoulder making it almost impossible to turn over. We did ask at reception for something lighter and were given sheets to use instead but the weather turned a bit cooler so the sheet was just too thin. I cannot imagine how the cleaning staff cope with changing the covers on these monstrosities daily when people check out. The cost of the 3 night stay for us was around £450 for room only. Extremely expensive. If we had booked B&B it would have been over £500. I do realise the spa/pool etc is probably covered in this price but perhaps a different price bracket to include or disclude the amenities might be a better idea as we were only basing ourselves there to sleep, and go out and about all day. The only other issue we had, which was of no fault of the hotel in any way, was the way some other guests had no concept of the amount of noise they make nor did they seem to care. We were wakened regularly to doors being let slam shut rather than gently closed at very early hours (there were a lot of workmen/businessmen staying) and in the room directly above us there was at least one child who sounded as if they were using the bed as a trampoline to bounce off of, onto the floor with a massive thud then run up and down the floor constantly from 6am each of the mornings.

Stayed for 4 nights and what a wonderful stay, the hotel is 30 seconds walk from the Centre and 5 mins walk from Preston Station. The room was beautifully presented, clean and comfortable, and the staff, well, what can I say, Lauren and Lauren, Martin and all the staff made us feel more like friends than guests,….what can I say, we’ll definitely be staying again ( sorry guys! Lol) In a nutshell, highly recommended. By the way, Lauren, have you seen that Nun again? ;)

When we arrived the barrier was down. We had to do that awkward thing of move the car over as far as you can and then stretch to reach the button to contact staff. Unfortunately the staff member who answered the gate intercom was a little hard to understand and she cut us off rather abruptly with the gate still remaining down. We pressed again and the gate allowed access. We checked in and I advised that I had already paid online via paypal. The staff advised that any payment was not an actual payment rather a hold - I would still need to pay again. If you use paypal you will know it takes several days to show on your account so I could neither prove nor disprove their claims. We got to our room and were pleased to be in an annexe as there was a wedding going on. Nice room size etc kettle, coffee machine, mugs, tea and biscuits. I checked in the bathroom for glasses and there were none available - I would assume that a hotel charging over £100 per night would at least supply plastic cups or proper glasses to drink water from. There was plenty of storage available and a decent hairdryer. The shower was nice - however the glass door was not long enough to prevent significant amounts of water hitting the floor - the bath mat was sodden. The shower tray and grout work as well as an area near the radiator had mould/blackening to it. There was also a random hole in the ceiling - possibly an old leak? The food was great although it took a while to arrive. I did ask for mild peppercorn sauce and no mushrooms - my food arrived with mushrooms and no peppercorn sauce. We left the restaurant believing that the meal would be added to the room - a member of staff followed us out advised that many people may have sat at the table and they needed a room number (this was given when we arrived at the restaurant) and could we pay now?!; perhaps they need a better booking/checking system in place? We then went through to the bar there were several tables which had been left with glasses on them. They were only removed when we sat at one of these tables, the table remained unwiped. The two staff on didn't come over to see if we wanted more drinks and didn't interact with other people who were hovering also intending to purchase drinks. I eventually took my chair and sat in front of the bar waiting for the staff to return from a patrol; neither asked if they could help so I shouted over. I believe this is indicative more of a lack of training in customer service than rudeness. Children from the wedding were becoming a nuisance by this point and were pretty much unchallenged by staff. They were running in and out, up and down stairs taking milk from the fridges and leaving plastic rings on the floor. They made enough noise to be heard on at least the first floor as the fire doors were help open by magnets. In our room we hoped for peace and quiet only to be left disappointed by music echoing over from the wedding - this finished just before midnight. The bed was comfortable and we slept well. The gym was lovely and quiet at 8am although the sauna hadn't quite heated up when we headed in there around 8.40ish. Breakfast was mostly tasty - the black pudding lacked any flavour - the scrambled eggs and hash browns were great. The tea was the wrong colour and tasted like very cheap teabags. There were bits of chips on the floor from the food service the night before.

Good stay in a fairly close location to Preston centre. Uber only £5 so not mega expensive and saves the walk in being around 15-20 minutes. Rooms modern with bathrooms being very clean and adequate ventilation considering it was a warm night. Only negative would be that there should be a notice on the booking stating how small the car park was. Any car that’s a small SUV and up will very much struggle to manoeuvre, with it being clear to see with the scuff marks on the posts inside the car park. Also the fee for parking overnight was around £3 Overall a pleasant stay for a really good price. Would definitely revisit if staying in Preston again.

First as all my reviews the honesty part both myself and my wife work for a separate rival hotel chain part of what is currently by room numbers the 2nd biggest hotel group in the world 35 years service and experience between us in the one hotel my wife works reception I do night audit. Easy to find from Preston rail station IF YOU IGNORE GOOGLE MAPS.. Central location We arrived very early but could leave luggage til later. Checked in very quickly and efficiently staff very very friendly. Room great for the price well sized very very quiet no sir con but had a good fan large bathroom very very hot water decent TV with basic channels good fast WiFi very easy log on. Didn't have food other than breakfast so can't comment on that. Very quiet overnight great night's sleep Breakfast great choice something for everyone couldn't fault it. Bar Had one drink certainly not cheap but not Mickey takingly expensive either . Check out Quick friendly and professional. Stayed the following two nights at the higher star rated Radisson blu in Liverpool ,reviewed seperately and this hotel was way way better..

GGuest UserI needed a Hotel close to the city centre, and the Holiday Inn was ideal about a 10 minute walk from the Railway Station and close to the city centre. Checkin was so quick and the staff where very freindly and informative about the Hotel facilities, which sometime doesnt happen. I was on the 7th floor and the room was perfectly clean / tidy and well kept. I went to the bar/restuarant for something to eat, the menu had something for everyone and i just sat in the bar. Food was delivered in good time and the quality and taste was good and a member staff came across to ask if everything is ok which was a nice touch. I had a good sleep in a comfortable bed and it was very quiet. Breakfast was a self service buffet with a good choice of food on offer. i would stay again as the location/ hotel and staff where excellent

BButterfly54321Stay away from this Hotel, like you would the plague, SERIOUSLY!!! I booked a 3 night stay at St Andrew's House Hotel, from the 7 February 2020 on wards, in an attempt to have a peaceful and comfortable stay, although, I couldn't have booked a worse Hotel!!!! I was kept awake all night long, from banging noises from above me and squeaky floor boards. Earlier in the evening when I heard noise, I was hoping it would settle down as the evening went on, however, it didn't, and so when it got to 3:38am I decided to call the emergency number for the Hotel, although, to my shocking surprise there was no answer and my call was not returned by either one of the Hoteliers I was only told when I had got to the Hotel that I was being put in a room were the shower was not working correctly. Phil said I would need to put the hot water on in the sink, then put the shower on and then I could turn the hot water off in the sink. I did this, however, the shower was not hot then, so I had to keep the hot water on in the sink, for the whole duration of my shower. The shower also kept coming on for 3 seconds and then went off again, repeatedly, until I had finished the shower. I asked for a refund for the 3 night stay, minus offering £10, to cover the laundry costs. Lorraine said in an off way, that it will cost them £15 for the laundry and extra for getting cleaners in, as well. She said she did not want to refund me for that night. I said I was not happy about this, I was very polite in how I handled the situation, but I felt that Lorraine had a very rude manner. Phil told Lorraine that he would give Lorraine the money back and he went ahead, to refund me back to my card. The refund receipt was dated the 8 February and to date (19 February), I have still not received a refund. I have tried to contact the hotel for the past 4 days, by calling them, but there has been no answer. I have left a voicemail, asking them to call me back, however, I have not been called back. I sent the Hotel an email on the 17 February and I have not received a response to this, as yet, My dad rung and spoke with Lorraine today at 12:54pm, to ask her nicely about my refund, she said that they had already refunded me. She said that she was out at the time, but that she would call my dad back when she got back to the Hotel, to which she never. I rung tonight and I spoke with Phil, he too, said that I had been refunded and I said I had not been. He also said that World Pay were the organisation that they use to deal with their refunds. I then contacted my bank and they said that it can take anything from 3-6 weeks to get a refund from them. I was very shocked at this, because Hotels usually refund customers directly, within anything up to, but not extending, 5 working days and the Hoteliers did not warn me of such a delay, either!!!! I rung the Hotel back again, as soon as Phil answered the phone, I heard Lorraine in the background, saying to Phil, to

GGuest UserThis was great for why we needed it. We wanted somewhere to spend the night after a full day of travelling. We also had a dog with us and the hotel were very accommodating for this. (Extra points). We had also got the breakfast package which was pretty decent. There was a wide range of food choices which was great as I can be a fussy eater. The place was pretty clean and the staff were very welcoming. The only real complaint that we have is the beds. They are so hard and not very comfortable. It was on par with lying on a concrete block. Despite this I do feel that everything else outweighed this, however one night would be my limit as my body felt broken the next day from the bed.

GGuest UserThe decor itself was a little run down and the wallpaper was torn in some places, but other than that the hotel itself was lovely. I stayed in a single room and the bed was very comfortable. I could hear people in other rooms as the walls were a bit too thin, but still slept well thanks to the decent quality mattress and bedding. There was a towel in the room as well as good quality soap and shower gel. The water pressure in the shower wasn't great but otherwise it worked well. The young man that welcomed me in very kindly showed me how to use the shower and customer service was excellent throughout. The free cold breakfast included a range of cereals, orange juice, toast, butter, and jams which was a good selection. Would definitely stay here again.
