I started booking our holiday in Tasmania well before we knew that Covid border restrictions would allow us to go. So I ruled out any accommodation, tours and excursions that did not allow free cancellation. Abs By The Bay was one such place. Once we arrived on the island I looked again at Abs and saw that it seemed far superior to the place I had booked for a similar price. This proved to be a good decision. We stayed in the Skippers cottage and it was really excellent. It had almost everything we needed or could imagine that we might need. The setting is lovely in beautiful gardens and a short stroll down to the bay. We stayed for one night and the following morning it was 12 C and windy when we had breakfast. The only table and chairs are outside and it would have been a hassle to move them inside where there was little room. So we ate sitting on the bed. This is my only criticism of the cottage. It should have been built a little bigger so that there was room for a table and chairs. Too late for that now but the place is just a little bit too small to be perfect.
We booked this hotel for 1 night. It is very convenient to Port Arthur. Bathroom was a but tired but sleeping area was great with lovely water views. The only downside was the restaurant closed at 8.30pm. We did the ghost tour, so it would have been nice to come back to the bar afterwards. Not many breakfast options in the area either. A lot of places seem to open at 10am which is not convenient when you want to head off early.
Stayed here for a couple of nights on a powered, ensuite site during an RV tour of Tasmania Reception staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful and the store is very well stocked Our drive through site was big enough for the largest of RVs and there is more than adequate space between sites There is a gravel base next to the parking area which means you can easily put up your awning and table/chairs The wonderful ensuite was up a couple of steps and well away from the van area There is a walking track directly from the park through bush, down to the beach and on to the heritage site but I would say this is not really suitable for the older travellers as it is steep in parts. Unfortunately Tasmania saved it’s worst weather for our visit and we were unable to complete our tours around Port Arthur historic site but the bonus was that we were able to watch the local pademelons foraging around our RV Not the cheapest of sites but I would say it is fairly good value for money
We must have stayed here a dozen times and it's always great. Was in one of the villas this time so we could self cater, had everything we needed. Cozy and warm on a cold night, good Saturday night band in the bar. Only tip is next time we'll get the upstairs option in the villas because if you, as we did this time, have a family of inconsiderate a**hats stomping around for two hours in heavy shoes from 6.30am (seriously, who does that in a hotel?! Were they doing a two hour aerobics class?) you will need a lot of coffee to get through your Sunday.
We arrived late after reception had closed, but the lovely lady came back up and found us a room. It was lovely, very roomy and comfortable! We found nothing to fault here. The Restaurant in this resort was amazing!! The service staff and the chef’s were fantastic! Food was truly amazing and we left here with such a good feeling about the whole place
Amazing location clean rooms great restaurant. Staff were very friendly and helpful going out of their way to assist with pointing out local attractions that should be visited. Restaurant had a full menu despite having little bookings due to COVID and the food was very good as well as reasonably priced.
On arrival, the staff had already turned on the heat in my room as it was a cold day and opened the restaurant bar for pre dinner drinks. Highly recommend staying at this location
Conveniently located near the heritage site of Port Arthur, this accommodation offers several some buildings with rooms including fully equipped kitchen. Everything was clean and the room is comfortable, I however regretted that the front desk was closed during our stay and we had to pick-up and return the keys in a box. Hence no option to get recommendations and suggestions.
The best experience of the whole journey, BB is located on the mountainside next to the white sand beach, we arrived later, the owner greeted at the door. The room faces the storm bay, the scenery is beautiful, the owner is also a tourist, very talkative, carefully introduce the facilities, provide coffee juice and so on. Breakfast 10 knives, the owner's own continental breakfast, rich in content.
