"Hotel is very convenient for the universities and the convention centre, less so for the northern quarter and commercial centre. Breakfast was fair and the service warm. The hotel itself is tired with one of two lifts out of service. The mattress is less comfortable than Premier Inn , rating it very average."
"Britannia Hotel Manchester has an undeniably grand, old-world charm—but it shows its age in ways both atmospheric and inconvenient. The lobby’s sweeping staircase and chandeliers hint at past glory, and the central location is excellent for shopping, trains, and nightlife. However, that vintage character often slips into dated and tired. Rooms vary widely: some are spacious, others cramped; décor can feel worn, with scuffed furnishings and thin walls. Cleanliness is generally acceptable but inconsistent. Bathrooms work, though water pressure and temperature can fluctuate. Service is hit-or-miss—some staff are friendly and efficient, others seem overwhelmed during busy periods. Noise from corridors and nearby bars can be an issue, so light sleepers should request interior rooms or bring earplugs. For the price, it’s a functional base in the city center with nostalgic charm, provided your expectations are modest and you value location over modern comforts. Potential, but in need of refresh."
"I travelled for business as I had a project in the city. Upon arrival the lady on the desk was rude to me and continued this throughout my stay. There was a hair in the bathroom and the desk woman treated me like a criminal, lots of tutting and dirty looks. Would not recommend this place if she was ever working again. Spoiled my trip and I have booked my 3rd night elsewhere."
"The hotel location is around 15 minutes walk from Manchester Piccadilly station. Also, a 15 minutes walk to centre. If you are a really city person, this might not be the best option.
Having/ providing a hair dryer in the room is a very plus point for me!!!!! The room is clean and big.
Btw, not all staff are friendly, the staff who assist me with check-in, didn’t show any smily face at all, was kind of bad experience, also that day due to severe weather in UK and when I reached the hotel, I am whole body wet, the staff not even care about. 🙃 (The minus point for me)"
"I really enjoyed my stay at the Ibis budget, Pollard Street. Right from checking in, the staff were very polite, helpful and warm. The ladies at the desk were very welcoming.
The room clean and comfortable.
Breakfast was top notch. It was easy to get into the city as the bus stop is just a de seconds from the hotel. The metro link stop is only a couple of minutes walk from the hotel,
Thank you, I will definitely recommend to others and I will visit again."
"I arrived late at night and was delighted to find the reception still open, with staff greeting me warmly. For the price, the room was very spacious, complete with a desk, sofa, and large bed. The pillow was soft and comfortable, making for a restful stay.
What stood out the most was the quality of the toiletries. They use a well-known brand for hand wash, body wash, and shampoo, which felt gentle on the skin and hair, unlike the low-quality products often found in other hotels.
The breakfast buffet was adequate, though as a Muslim I couldn’t eat some of the options. However, when I asked, the catering team kindly prepared a vegan sausage for me, which I really appreciated.
The hotel is about a 15-minute walk from Manchester Piccadilly. At night, dragging my luggage, it felt longer, but in the morning it was just a brisk, pleasant walk."
"I went with my daughter, it was her very first time staying in Manchester, We enjoyed stay at the hotel. The staff were very friendly. The breakfast was good and something for everyone. The only thing I would say is that we both didn't get any sleep, not because of any noise from outside, it was actually from the toilet. Each time someone was using the bathroom from a near by room, our toilet would also make noise, that was a pain, but there was no point complaining about that as it qas really late when we came back to the hotel to sleep. And we only stayed one night. But I really would have liked to feel abit more fresh in the morning. I'm not sure if this is an issue with other rooms, but it caused us both not to sleep well. But apart from that, I cant complain. Shower was good and with good pressure. It was very clean.
Location was excellent. I would like to try it again, but I would like to ask for a room without the noisy toilet :).
Also if you look at the picture. There is cheap all day parking for £6."
"This is a clean and centrally located hotel. Perfect for visiting Manchester City Center and surrounding areas Service is top notch with restaurants, shopping in close proximity. Quite affordable and easy to reach by a short walk from the main train station. Great choice for any traveller."
"This is an amazing hotel great location right in the centre near the shops a short walk from couple of train stations. Very friendly and polite staff nothing was too much trouble we were able to drop our bags early doors so we weren’t carrying them round and they were in the room when we checked in. Checking in and out was easy no problems fab bar area we booked our table for teatime just incase it got busy as we had a voucher towards evening meal which was lovely! Room was a good size clean and modern with little touches bed and pillows amazing! Overall a fantastic experience would definitely recommend to anybody and would return myself. A huge thank you to the staff especially the young gentleman (sorry didn’t get his name) who looked after us from dropping bags off to checking in to helping with purchases and leaving he was a credit to the Brewdog Hotel very friendly made the time, amenable nothing was too much trouble for him went above and beyond to make our stay a great one!"
"Stayed here with my daughter for the Olivia Rodrigo concert. Usually stay in a Premier Inn but this was so much better. Only downside was a squeaky sliding door on the bathroom and someone running in the corridor at 2am. Overall, a lovely quirky hotel and would stay again 😀"

GGuest UserHotel is excellent room and views are lovely. Location is excellent and majority of staff were nice. Only a few issues they give and charge you for doubles in the bar when the menu only gives single prices. The response from the barmaid was you never specified a single when that should be as standard. Also take 50 pound a night for cover in case you spend in the hotel but only refunded 97.60 for the 2 nights. Although we didn’t spend anything on the room. The hotel is super but just those 2 things took the shine of a really great stay.

LLilyIt was exceptionally clean and had facilities for preparing simple meals. It truly felt like a Manchester University dorm, being entirely surrounded by the campus. Strolling through Manchester Uni's grounds, just outside the building, was incredibly pleasant. Highly recommended, and the surrounding area felt very safe.
1105172****This is a grand and historic hotel, and I had a very comfortable stay. Its location is fantastic, right in the city center and just a short walk from Manchester's Chinatown. My only complaints are the unclear smoking signs near the entrance and the tiny ashtrays provided. There was also no doorman to offer assistance or reminders. This could easily lead to fines (as enforcement seemed rather discreet), which unfortunately cast a shadow of frustration and disappointment over my trip.

RRawstronThe hotel was amazing! The service was fab, all the staff were so lovely and really helpful. The room was great and had everything you could need, and I loved the fact that all the toiletries are plant based! The location was also amazing, just round the corner from the nightlife if you wanted it (but completely silent from inside your room). It's very central so really easy access to anything you could want really.
Would definitely stay there again and already recommended it to some friends.
MMiss J AshleyI stayed at the Pendulum Hotel in Manchester for one night on a Sunday while up for a work meeting. The hotel doubles as an event centre and is tucked just at the end of the party district near the Pride area — close enough to enjoy the city’s buzz, but still tucked away enough for a good night’s rest.
The building is built around a central courtyard with a garden bar, giving it a nice open atmosphere. It’s very obvious the hotel used to be student accommodation — the wood furnishings, compact desk, and overall layout are straight out of a university hall of residence. But honestly, that adds to its charm. For the price, it’s a great deal if you want to take a little trip down memory lane and relive those student-style stays (with much cleaner bathrooms!)
The room was spotless, the bed super comfortable, and the shower facilities very clean. It’s on the smaller side, so best suited to solo travellers or short stays. I grabbed some hot fries from the bar in the evening and took them up to my room — a nice, casual touch.
Breakfast the next morning was buffet style with a great selection, and every staff member I met — at check-in, check-out, and breakfast — was friendly and helpful. The only odd part was the music: it sounded like someone had YouTube running, complete with adverts and two overlapping tracks at one point!
The only downside was noise. The courtyard carries sound easily, so if windows are open, you’ll hear everything echo. Guests above me were up late chatting and singing, then arguing in the morning — staff were aware and handled it well after several reports, but it’s something to note. I’d suggest bringing earplugs just in case.
Overall, this is a great, affordable spot in the city centre — friendly, nostalgic, and practical. Perfect for a quick work trip or a short stay in Manchester. I’d definitely stay again… just with earplugs packed next time!

AAnonymous UserDuring my recent stay at this hotel, I found the overall experience to be enjoyable with top-quality fittings and furnishings. However, there were areas that required improvement. The hotel itself is pleasant, but enhancing the service and room cleaning would significantly improve the guest experience.
A standard room was paid for but a disability-accessible room was provided. We requested to change it to a standard which was done immediately without any questions. No water bottles were provided in the room initially; they were only given on request and only two small bottles were provided. Additionally, the room cleaning service was unsatisfactory. Despite requesting it twice over 4 nights, the cleaner only changed the sheets once and neglected to take out the bins vacuum, replace towels or clean the bathroom. This was particularly disappointing given the length of my nearly week-long stay.
The breakfast was beautifully presented with various options but unfortunately remained the same every day lacking any variation. Some areas were particularly poor. For instance, the scrambled eggs had a distinct smell and were overly watery. Adding tomatoes or simply varying the options every few days would have improved the experience.
One concern we had was the cleaning team. Twice the cleaner used his universal card to enter our room without ensuring no one was present. My partner was in the shower and our young baby was asleep. We heard a knock but were unable to reach the door in time. Upon reaching it we realised he was already entering. This occurred twice and on the following day we decided to chain the door for privacy reasons.
In other hotels we have stayed in, privacy is of the utmost concern for staff and they would never even risk opening someone’s locked door without making sure. A better system needs to be in place here.
GGuest UserI booked this hotel as it had a bath. The plug didn’t fit the whole so I couldn’t relax and have a bath.
It was on a main road where a new tram stop is under construction. Post midnight there was workmen continuous drilling.
I found chewing gum under the bedside shelf.
There was single glazing, the fitted moving window to block our noise was broken and wouldn’t close as my photo shows.

GGuest UserMy man told me the doors locked yet there wasn’t any batteries to make functional, he also said I looked like a stoner n can happily smoke ****, so I took upon his request and enjoyed my stay to the fullest, was beneficial of the pricing range as the cost was no more then a 3.5 per bedroom
As for the the essential part of the trip, my associate commandeered a new sleeping partner,
So many thanks to the OUO house members for letting us stay in Middleton 😘
