"This is a well-established, classic hotel. As foreign tourists, we definitely took advantage of local resources here. The Chinese restaurant inside isn't really worth trying, but unfortunately, it was the only option available for reservations on the day we stayed. The hot springs, however, were fantastic; it was lovely to quietly enjoy the beauty of fewer people during the off-season. Breakfast was also very good, and all the guests were polite and queued orderly, which made for a harmonious atmosphere – something I hope all travelers can experience. To the right of the main entrance, there are geta (wooden clogs) you can try on, and a short walk to the nearby river leads to a hot spring footbath, which was very pleasant."
"[”1: The service was really lacking. I had two large suitcases and it was pouring rain, but no one helped me get them into the car. There was no bell boy. The old man at the front desk only helped with my shoes. His English was terrible. When I called the front desk at night, no one could speak English.”,”2: The rooms in the main building are quite spacious and comfortable, but there are no showers in the rooms. You have to go to the large public bath for a shower, and there's only a toilet in the room. If you're traveling with children, definitely don't stay in the main building, unless you're lucky enough to get the room the Emperor stayed in!”,”3: The breakfast was incredibly disappointing. Compared to other onsen hotels, their breakfast was very, very meager.”,”4: The hot spring water is truly excellent; it's wonderful for your skin.”]"
"Although it is a home-operated bed and breakfast, the service facilities are no worse than large hot spring hotels, and even the service is more courteous than large hot spring hotels
Location: The guesthouse is located closer to Onsen Street, about 15 minutes from JR station
Service: Since we arrived at the hostel early, the staff helped us store our luggage and was very courteous to provide us with a map of the surrounding attractions to introduce us to how we can play;
Hygiene and facilities: The inn with a light fragrance, very comfortable; loan cut is also one of the features of this inn, after soaking in the hot spring also prepared refreshing wheat tea for us 👍"
"Traveling during the National Day holiday, we booked a one-night stay with two meals. After arriving at Shimonokusu Station, an old man holding a sign guided us to the shuttle bus, which was surprisingly full. The meals, for this price (though there was a holiday premium), weren't quite on par with what we've had in Hakone or Okinawa, but they were certainly filling. We were attended to by a Chinese-speaking staff member. The private onsen in our room had extremely hot water, requiring a lot of cold water to temper it. Finally, when checking out and heading to the station, the hotel arranged and paid for a taxi for us."
"This hot spring hotel is mostly occupied by Japanese people and there are very few foreign tourists. Everything is better than expected, and the package with two meals is very cost-effective. The room is in traditional Japanese style, very large and old but very clean. The hot spring pool has indoor and outdoor areas. When I went to soak in the outdoor area at 4 pm on the first day, I was the only one there and the environment was very good. When checking in, the front desk will let you choose the dining time. The buffet is divided into three time periods. I chose the earliest time period. It was basically full every time, and there were a lot of delicious food. According to the comments, there is a free shuttle every half an hour, but in fact, the shuttle needs to be booked in advance and is not free. I walked to the hotel because I didn't wait for the shuttle. People with a lot of luggage are advised to take a taxi or leave the large luggage at the station because the second half of the walk to the hotel is uphill and it is tiring to drag the suitcase."
"The onsen quality in Gero district is really superior. Skin feels very silky. The floor structure can feel confusing but we got used to it very quickly. The hotel offers good onsen and kaiseiki experience at economical price. Lots of local Japanese so it felt very authentic.
The only downsides are 1. lack of entertainment
options eg local performance, art & craft for young kids 2. Very crowded breakfast time. They could arrange different breakfast halls to divert the crowd or give timeslot tickets in advance."
"A very satisfactory stay. The environment is clean and hygienic, the staff are friendly, and the service is very good. There is a shuttle bus to and from Gero Station. You can enjoy two meals in the room for one stay. The food is generous and the dishes are very exquisite and beautiful. My family is very satisfied."
"The hotel facilities are old, the hot spring experience is average, it feels like it is just because of the Gero Onsen, otherwise the hotel is not worth the price, the hot spring water is really slippery, Gero's cost performance is not very high, except for the rich"
"The service is very good, starting from the station pick-up, to the restaurant service, night room laying, and hot spring care. They all reveal a well-trained professional spirit. Although the room facilities are a bit old, the climbing elevator, mottled tiles, etc., combined with the decent and appropriate service, give people a very ”gentlemanly” feeling. I will come again next time."
"Gero overturned my view of Japanese tourism. Most of the hotels and convenience stores in the whole town employ Nepalese and Indians, so you can imagine that etiquette is engraved in their bones. They can speak to you in Japanese, bow to you, and say some etiquette words, that's all. You will see that when they pass the plate to you, they will not pass it to you personally, but let the people at the same table pass it to you; when they help you get tea, their fingers will touch the tea, and when they deliver the meal, they will forget the menu today and the paper towel tomorrow. When they find out, they will make a joke, as if I have arrived at a Japanese hotel opened by Nepalese. This hotel is a sister hotel next door, so they are connected. The so-called connection means that some of the room doors face the restaurant opposite. When we checked in, there was a green used towel hanging in the toilet. Everyone will experience it slowly..."

JJungseokExperienced the best satisfaction at a ryokan and not expensive price.
The building is old and old, but it was well maintained and clean, and unlike the appearance, the interior was quite spacious.
The owner's family were very friendly and provided the best service and meals.
The hot springs are small too, but the water is very good, clean.
It's a place I definitely want to visit again later.
Thank you! :)
GGuest UserVery memorable experience, the whole process from the start to leave was wonderful, touching service, perfect meal, only a little bit I'm not too used to is there is no shower in the room, it's my personal habit. But it was a very memorable journey and I am very grateful to all the staff of KKR Gero for their care and service, thank you again
SShuangzizuopingguoThe room was large, clean and tidy and comfortable. The service was very good because it was a late bus from the wife cage (two hours late). It was only after 10:30 in the evening. It was originally said that I had to check in before 10 o'clock. I was worried that I could not live. I didn't expect the boss to wait for me and gave it back. The pot of hot water and because it is late, enjoy the private soup, Meimei soaked in a single hot spring
MminnyjinnyThis is a ryokan where you can really feel the retro sensibility of the Showa era! It may be a little inconvenient because it is an old facility, but
the owner and staff were all really kind,
and both dinner and breakfast were very sincere and delicious meals!^^
It is not big, but it is also advantageous that you can enjoy a 24-hour hot spring bath!
It was also really nice to walk around the hot spring village nearby!
I had a hard time because there was little information,
but I made a good choice!
I highly recommend it to those who want to experience a real Japanese ryokan rather than a sophisticated one!
YYuzuojianThe shaking of the elevator 🛗 spills the cup of coffee. I felt very dangerous. Welcome drinks were very good. The service of Oden 🍢 and Ramen 🍜 is the best. The private open-air bath was not good, but the underground bath was good. For dinner, grilled meat on a pottery plate 🥩 Hobamiso is delicious. Free alcohol drinks were also good. The water splitting of the sub-flowing water in Hida was the most fun. At breakfast, Orange 🍊 was very sweet and delicious. I wish I had ice cream. In terms of price, I will give you a passing score. In addition, please provide customer service. I would like to use it again. Fireworks 🎇 also looked a little!
WwipaweeThis place is huge, I've never seen a bigger room around here! It's awesome. The only thing is, it's a bit of a trek from the station, but whatever. I did have a small problem with reception in the morning; I needed a taxi and they said they'd book one, but it never showed up! So I had to sort it out myself. Still, it's a great place, but hopefully, they'll improve their service a bit.
