The hotel is ok, getting older and that is started to show. However, the hotel staff at reception and cleaning is good. The hotel is located a bit off the Strassebahn stops so there is a few minutes walk to the hotel if you don't have a car. There is missing a walking lane from the street to the hotel, so guests have to walk across a badly illuminated car entrance and a parking lot, it is hazardous. Gas station in front of the hotel is another thing making the arrival site of the hotel environment not so attractive. The other side of the hotel is however nice turning towards the Stadtwald. The really bad experience was the restaurant in the hotel. I like to mention that I very seldom complain at a restaurant, in fact I haven't for years. I ordered a burger and that was the worst service I have experienced for many years. The burger was badly cooked but the worst thing was the buns were so hard that I couldn't cut thru them with a knife. Like they had been frozen in a bag with a hole in it so the bun was exposed to dry cold for long time. I am not joking when I say I couldn't cut through them, it was so literally. I asked the waiter to take it back and he said he would bring a new one. He however did not, and did not approach me to tell me. My wife had her chicken and she finished her meal but not a work from the waiter to me. When I asked for the bill I asked him why and he said the cook had said that nothing was wrong with the burger. I would just stay away from that restaurant, it is a shame for this hotel. Price of hotel was 407 E a double room for 3 nights without breakfast. I travel frequently to Cologne and have stayed in this hotel few times, but I will do my best to stay away from this hotel in the future.

Great price for a hotel in this location. The room is a bit limited in size but very clean and comfortable. Being located virtually right behind the Cathedral, this hotel is a nice choice if you want to walk around the city.

I’ve had a wonderful stay at the Rescidence Hotel. Staff was very friendly and kind, the room was clean and there was enoough space for 2 persons. The bed was a bit hard for my preference but we stayed for just two nights so it was ok. The location of the Hotel was perfect, between the bars/pubs and the centre. Allthough the busy environment, we were not bothered by noise. I would definitely visit this Hotel if i’m going back to Köln.

I have stayed in mercure hotels in over 5 countries and many cities. They are the best. Beds were comfortable and huge rooms. Great service. Location was great with many great local restaurants nearby. Just next to the metro. Super stay! Danke Schone!

The hotel is located beside the train station. There are many restaurants nearby and the cathedral is not too far away. The staffs were a little weird. They tried to be funny but maybe something was lost in translation and made us feeling uncomfortable. One of the staffs didn’t understand our question in English, but instead of trying to understand our question, she insisted her answer which left us more confused. Another staff completely ignored us when we were trying to talk to him because he was “busy” doing something else behind the desk although he made a lot of uncomfortable jokes at the beginning.

The old house is decorated, the aisle is very narrow, the elevator is enough for two people, it seems that the cockroach can be on. The room is spacious, bright and clean, very good; there is a coffee machine at the front desk to pick up hot water, the front desk service is very good; Located in the old town square, not the closest to the Cologne church, but the dining is very convenient. It is very convenient and safe to go out to eat a typical German pig elbow beer. There are taxis waiting for customers to drink at 11 o'clock in the evening. Not far from the pedestrian street, the cathedral, the central station, the railway bridge, parking in the public parking lot out of the tunnel, from the square, very convenient. There was no air conditioning (AC) even though the hotel advertised as having it. Their excuses was that it was too cool at night to operate the AC for the hotel even though it was actually very warm outside. Translation: the entire hotel is either on heat or AC, they are too frugal to allow use of the advertised AC, or their system is outdated and does not actually work properly. Very hot and stuff room. The odd thing was is that the hotel lobby seemed to have AC. The hallways and room were uncomfortably hot. Upon checking in there was only a little bit of toilet paper was left on the roll. Fortunately there was an extra roll provided. Only a few sheets of Kleenex were in the box. Also, the hand soap dispenser was nearly empty. It seems not much care is given to the rooms between guests. On our last day the housekeeper knocks on the door early in the morning even tough the “do not disturb” sign was hung on the door. It was a basic room with furnishings that included a desk, a small round table, 2 small nightstands, a desk chair, and one sitting chair. There was no usable refrigerator, just a mini bar. The was only one suitcase rack situated in the closet. We had to use the sitting chair for our other suitcase. The beds were not too comfortable. Also the pillow case did not completely cover the pillow, so your head might rest upon the exposed portion of the pillow where the lasts hundreds of guest placed their heads. Bathroom was OK but a bit smelly. The shower had low water pressure. Some water will leak out under the shower door to the floor. Stepping over the high tub with a slippery shower floor is a bit precarious. Internet speed was 3.81 Mbps in both upload and download, with 8 ms latency. The location is near the chocolate museum and a good pizza and pasta restaurant is nearby. The cathedral is less than a mile away. At almost 400 euros a night, it was very expensive for a poor experience. Perhaps HN stands for “Not Happy.”

The best hotel in Germany. The western restaurant on the second floor is especially amazing. You need to make reservations in advance at night. The details of the service are great. The hotel is the official designated accommodation hotel for the European Cup. I was lucky enough to see the England and Belgium players.

Very pleasant hotel for a one-night stopover. Spacious free parking. Friendly staff, both at reception and in restaurant. Nice room design, single room was spacious enough and bed fairly comfortable. I loved the restaurant: great food (in particular dinner, but free breakfast was quite nice as well) and they have nice outdoor seating (backside, away from the main street). Only downside was that they had major issues with air-conditioning and the whole system was not working (hopefully solved soon as I was told a technician would come next day). In the first room I got, the aircon kept making an annoying noise (even turned off). Fortunately, reception gave me another room (still no aircon but at least no noise). The last room on the 3rd floor had huge windows which could be opened like doors, so the room cooled down sufficiently during night anyway.
