The hotel's location is excellent, with a supermarket nearby. Getting to various attractions by tuk-tuk is very convenient. The hotel's decor is simple and bright. The hotel breakfast is actually quite good; I hadn't booked it because some guests said it wasn't great, but upon arrival, I found it to be pretty decent. We ended up buying two breakfasts on the spot. The variety of breakfast items is about average.

I stayed at this hostel for my first night in Colombo, and overall, it offered good value for money. The location was quite convenient for getting around, and the place was kept very clean. The owner was attentive and responsive to service requests. Here are some practical tips for future guests: The lockers don't have locks, which might be a concern if you're carrying valuables like laptops or cameras. The dormitory rooms have sliding doors that can't be locked, and the bathroom is right outside, so you'll need to be extra mindful of privacy and security. Also, they don't provide toiletries like toothbrushes or shower gel, so be sure to bring your own. Sri Lankan power outlets are unique, so I recommend bringing a universal travel adapter from home, otherwise, you won't be able to charge your phone. It's a good option for a short, budget-friendly stopover. Weigh your options based on your own needs.

I chose the newly opened Amari Hotel (Amari Colombo) for my first two nights in Colombo, drawn by its reputation for sea views. The sea view from the room and the rooftop infinity pool were huge plusses, and the service was good, but there were quite a few flaws. I stayed in a Deluxe Sea View King Room on the 16th floor. The room's large floor-to-ceiling windows directly faced the sea, offering a great view and easy sunset watching. Unfortunately, the popular Grabbell Hotel partially obstructed the view to the left, making the angle for admiring the sea from bed not ideal. The room itself was very new, but the design had numerous illogical aspects: ① The 'king' bed was actually two single beds pushed together, with a gap in the middle, making it very uncomfortable to sleep on. ② The bathroom wasn't a 'three-fixture separation' (toilet, shower, sink in separate areas), and opening the bathroom door completely blocked the toilet, leading to poor circulation and accessibility. ③ After the main light switch was turned off for a period, the power outlets also shut off, preventing phone charging. If the main switch wasn't turned off, some lights couldn't be switched off individually. ④ The curtains required pulling cords on both sides to operate, and there was no corresponding instruction in the room. I only discovered this after struggling to pull the curtains for a long time. I was quite surprised to find such design flaws in a hotel that had been open for two years. The hotel service attitude was generally good. Checking in at 1:30 AM, the concierge was still on duty, helping with luggage from the car and later delivering it to the room. The front desk staff were also very friendly, and I didn't experience any discrimination. The rooftop infinity pool on the 26th floor also directly faces the sea. The pool isn't large or deep, but it's sufficient for leisure. There's also a bar by the pool, offering panoramic views of most of Colombo, with particularly stunning scenery at dusk. Breakfast, located on the 5th floor, featured strong local characteristics, with an array of various curries spread across the buffet. Opinions were sharply divided; my wife loved it, while I couldn't get used to it at all. Overall, to fully enjoy this hotel, you need to book a sea-view room and comfortably watch the sunset from your room or the rooftop pool. Otherwise, it's just a slightly flawed, but generally acceptable, four-star hotel.

It is a simple hotel but a cute one. The service was good and the rooms were clean. The room was a bit noisy, we heard a lot from the floor and we didn’t like to see the birds in the pool. But the rest was good.

The rooms were very clean and spacious, and there's a pool too. Everyone was very professional and greeted us with a smile. The doorman's smile was particularly lovely. We had a late-night flight, but we were able to use the hotel's shower after sightseeing before heading to the airport, which was truly a lifesaver.

The hotel room offers a direct view of the seaside train, and there are convenient amenities within walking distance such as supermarkets and restaurants. It's quite convenient. As soon as you enter downstairs, all the staff are enthusiastic about helping you with your bags and with security checks. I also noticed that flight crews from Emirates or Qatar Airways stay at this hotel. The window seats in the breakfast area have a perfect view of the seaside train passing by, so the location and view are excellent. Thanks to the hotel, we have a wonderful memory of our trip to Sri Lanka.

NH Collection Colombo stands out in Sri Lanka’s buzzing capital, blending urban convenience, plush comfort, and picture-perfect sea views. 🌊 Whether you’re here for business or to soak up Colombo’s historic streets, this hotel is your launchpad for adventure and relaxation. From the moment you arrive at 24 Srimath Anagarika Dharmapala Mawatha, the friendly staff greets you with warm Sri Lankan hospitality, always quick to assist and happy to share local tips. The large, airy rooms are a guest favorite, especially those with panoramic sea views—wake up to sunlight dancing on the Indian Ocean and enjoy a serene start in a comfy, neat space. Make time for the rooftop Infinity Pool & Bar, an insta-worthy spot for sunset sips or just lazing with a view. The hotel’s location means you’re steps from the coastline, handy markets, and Colombo’s vibrant city life. Breakfast is a true highlight: feast on everything from Sri Lankan hoppers to European classics. It’s the kind of breakfast spread that fuels exploration all day long. For the best experience, secure a sea-facing room and double-check your breakfast package upon booking to avoid confusion later. And don’t miss the nearby Galle Face Green at sunset, just a short stroll away—perfect for local snacks and people-watching. Booking tip: Reserve early on trip.com, especially for high-floor, ocean-view rooms. If you want maximum relaxation, take advantage of the rooftop pool in the quieter morning hours.

The owner was incredibly kind to me. It was my first day in Sri Lanka, and they patiently helped me plan my trip, showed me where to catch the bus, and recommended some great spots. What's more, when I had to leave the hotel to go somewhere far away, they even let me store my luggage in their locker! They were truly a wonderfully generous person. Thank you very much! 🙇

This hotel is truly unique, steeped in history, and they do a wonderful job of preserving its century-old heritage while still embracing the 21st century. Everything is excellent, the staff are friendly and respectful, really valuing old-school service traditions. There's even a museum showcasing famous past guests like Anton Chekhov and Yuri Gagarin. The 20-meter saltwater pool, right on the Indian Ocean, is simply fantastic for relaxing when the sea is rough. As I mentioned, the rooms are styled from the 1960s-70s, and you even get the charming creak of the floors and stairs. The hotel team clearly puts a lot of effort into maintaining the property against the forces of time and the ocean's weather. The dining experience for breakfast, lunch, and dinner is a story in itself. You can explore not just local cuisine, but dishes from across South Asia. The chefs and restaurant staff really strive to make your stay here an enriching culinary journey into local culture and traditions. If it's your first time in Sri Lanka, I highly recommend this hotel for your initial introduction to the country. Despite the cost, it offers great value, especially considering its convenient location near Colombo's main attractions.

This is a really nice hotel. First of all, we were given a cold towel and ice cream as a welcome service. The scent of the towel was so lovely that I asked what cologne they used and bought some at a supermarket in Colombo. The hotel's entrance, design, the way the air circulates, and the service from the staff are all wonderful. I stayed on the second floor for three nights, but it still wasn't enough. This is the kind of hotel that makes you look forward to coming home, even when you're out. Breakfast was also delicious. I had an omelet and French toast. It was very filling. Fresh juice, a fruit platter, bread, and a main course with coffee or tea were included. I would definitely stay here again, and I would also like to try other hotels in the nyne series. If I had to say something negative, I would say that the hot water in the shower was a bit hard to come by, and that although I requested laundry twice, I wish it had been folded more carefully. Just being given neatly folded clothes makes a big difference in how I feel. Overall, I was very satisfied with this hotel.

No yf, I booked a room for 2 days. After staying for one night, I went to Galle with no room but a bag. I called the hotel and told them that I would wait until around 3 pm to pick up the bag and check out. I told the hotel that it was okay. They took my bag to the front desk for cleaning, but when I went to the hotel the receptionist asked me to pay an extra half day's room rate. I told them that I had called them, but they didn't know. In the end, I had to pay half a day's room rate before leaving!
